Same problem here! My rig is a an i7 6900k, 16GB RAM, Geforce 970, Nvidia drivers 430.39. I'll try to revert video drivers to 399.x. EDIT: I went back (from latest 430.39 drivers) to drivers 399.24. Right to enjoy it how, when and where the user wants without any further condition like being obliged to be online now and then. ED's choice would fall in any courtroom, except Eastern ones maybe. Many of you, defending this choice, are prone to forget the word "freedom". I (I write "I" only because it's more comfortable, but I obviously mean the common John Doe person) am free to live without being obliged to pay for an Internet subscription at home; I am free to move to a foreign country or to an holiday house, without being obliged to subscribe another Internet subscription, apart from the one I have at my main home; etc. Above all, I am (John Doe is) free to use a product I paid money for HOW, WHEN and WHERE I want, without any tie and trap, and that means that, after my purchase, I have every right to use the product I bought without being subject to any unreasonable condition that could limit the aforementioned freedom (in this circumstance, for example, I/John Doe should have the right to play in singleplayer HOW, WHEN and WHERE I want, after the company verifies, once and for all, the legitimacy of my purchase). ED's choice could be understandable, if looked at the declared purpose to protect ED's intellectual property (and every legit user of ED's products) from piracy. But I guess ED's tech staff is smart enough to know that piracy, for a long time, will be able to reproduce and share, without authorization, every software that gaming industry will produce in the next few years, at least until new modern anti-piracy technologies will be designed (and the so-called "phoning at home" is not new nor efficient, being indeed a pretty laughable measure to circumvent for every pirate crew). For this reason, though ED's declared purpose is naturally commendable, the method is poorly thought. It only limits the freedom of the legit users and actually transforms their full purchases into simple limited rentals. Something that in many USA/EU courts would not be accepted, even if user should accept the EULA by clicking on a button labelled "Accept" (the majority of EULA's clauses, in fact, are usually declared invalid in courtrooms for multiple reasons I won't name here).

Well, if you make a game menu go to 1 fantastillion of FPS, it should be expected that temps get rising. Real thing is that you should use Vertical Sync in your graphic cards preferences, at a global level. There's really no need for the videocard to draw more frames than the screen frequency can accept: it only brings bad things like stutters and tearing. That said, no way a game can kill a videocard, unless the user mistreated it because of poor ventilation in the case or savage overclocking. -

Dcs is cpu-bound and prefers Intel. With my new 970 (the Gigabyte G1 Gaming, by the way), the performance of DCS on my X6 1055T (overclocked to 3.7 ghz) is better than with my previous 560ti, but still ridiculous given the videocard I'm using (at times fps still drop in the 20s or below). All the other games run great, even if more recent (for example, Elite Dangerous run at ultra settings at about 100 fps). I expect that DCS 2 will be less CPU-bound, more friendly with AMD and/or more dependant on GPU. So wait to upgrade. -

The space the ssd has to replace bad sectors is decided by the user, on my Samsung, and is the so-called overprovisioning, and, more important thing, it is SUBTRACTED from the free space of the ssd. It's not a spare hidden space that adds to your free space

I see your point about the SSD. It's a great update, but to take advantage of it you need a good motherboard too, and preferrably an Intel one, because Intel controllers are usually better than the ones you find on AMD mobo (I experience it every time on my own, since I've an AMD mobo and the benchmarks of my SSD on an Intel platform were far, far better). As for the SSD, I'd suggest you to give a glance to the Samsung 850 series: if you can afford, take the PRO, otherwise you can take the vanilla one (EVO). Take into consideration, though, that the more data you write on a SSD the less longer its life will be. This means that a SSD must not be used as a storage disk for your downloads, videos and music, but mainly for the OS and the programs or games that do need its speed (like DCS, since its loading times aren't the fastest on a mechanical HDD). To use effectively a SSD the way it meant to be used, you must couple it with a mechanical HDD, that you will utilize as storage device and on which you'll install those programs/games that do not need the speed of the SSD (for instance, an adventure or chess game).

The red is actual G force and, the second number, the maximum G you reached during the flight. Of course you must imagine them as decimal (so 11 is 1.1 and 90 means 9.0). At least that's what I read in the belsimtek's manual (and what happens on the f16,too, by the way)

Of course you can trim even with gun/pac enabled to counter its effect, at least in the sim. Dunno how it works in real though, if that's what concerns you, and I dunno why gun/pac has such a consequence on the flight attitude of the aircraft.

DCS doesn't use more than two cores, and one is dedicated to the sound, so the load is up to only one core. I don't think you would benefit by switching to a 8350.I'm in your same situation and I decided to switch to Intel i7-4790k (I'll have to change the motherboard, too). Intel has much more juice than AMD and, compared to a 1090t or a 8350, there is no challenge and you can benefit more than 10-15% added fps.

I cannot hear the pump of my H50, to be honest, even if I turn off all the fans, but I admit that: 1) noise is pretty subjective (you can hear something that I can't or you can be bothered by something that I don't perceive as noise); 2) my tolerance to noise is pretty high, otherwise I wouldn't have up to 7 fans in the pc and I wouldn't put them at full speed while playing (they're audible at full speed, yes!) ; 3) noise depends on the case too, given that my pc isn't that noisy as one would expect from all those fans, and this is thanks to the case. So, to sum it up, I don't hear any noise from the pump, but I don't know if it's because of the good case or my ears. To hear it, I must put the ear at a couple of centimeters from the pump (case opened and fans off). Usually when the pump produces noise, anyway, the unit could be broken, at least as far as I know. Do you speak because you actually listened to liquid cooling kit by Corsair? If you only read it, it could be worth to ask someone to show it to you, to verify the noise. If you instead speak on personal direct experience, then your ears are better than mine or your tolerance to noise is lower than mine, and then your choice of using Noctua is fine :)

Of course, water cooling kit is always the best way. Air cooling is old tech by now :)

Well, better than the 4770k, given that the 4770k has problems with the thermal pad not perfectly adhering to the cpu and Intel explicitly addressed the issue with the 4790k.

Not really. Just make sure the psu have a lot of amperes. And consider buying an h100, because liquid kit does make the difference compared to air cooling. Oh, and I'd wait the newest 4790k at the end of the month rather than picking the 4770k.

Of course yes, otherwise I would not take the k version (but I'll overclock at the maximum speed I can reach without changing voltages, because I don't like to overvoltage components given that I think that it shortens their life a lot). The case (Corsair Obsidian series) has a lot (7) of custom well positioned fans too (I have a specific lcd in a 5.25 bay with which I control their rpm, so I can make the pc quiet if I want to), so temperature is not going to be a problem like it's not a problem with my actual Phenom II X6 1055T,that I overclocked from 2.8 to 3.7 ghz, along with the videocard (from 800 mhz to 920). Consider that the cpu now never goes more than 45-50 under load in the hottest days (room temperature more than 27 celsius degrees, alas without air conditioning)

I own Corsair H50 and it is still fine too. I'm going to put it on a new 4790k on a maximus vii ranger, in fact
