Forgive my tone here, but if you can't change weapon codes in the air in the F/A-18C then why is the option there on the stores page? I have attached a track.
Because, just like in the A-10C, this was the original way to change the laser code of the weapon before the new Fuze Menu feature was introduced.

Can you perhaps upload your mission so we can take a look?
Can you show how you set up the frequency with all the advanced waypoint action?
And why does it need to be two in the same group? Why not just copy the tanker?
-
Now with the PTO it seems to go somewhat into that direction of historical accurate matchups.
And we get the La-7, not La-5.
But besides that, there were plans about a different variant of the A8. But just like the AI 109G6 that was planned to come, I think it's safe to say as of now, it's just too much work/absolutely not a priority.
I too would love some more axis aircraft, but if you look at the grand schemes of things, it's gonna take another decade probably before we see anything in that regard.

Exemple :
Normal volume : JTAX (Axeman11): Enfield 1, this is Axeman 1-1 ...
Volume decrease (like very far) : ... type 3 in effect. Advise when ready for 9-line.
Then does not respond anymore.
Same behaviour.
I'm sorry if you did do it in your track. I am currently away from my computer so I cannot check your track as of now.
Just to make sure, after he sais advise when ready etc. for some reason, you have to wait a good few seconds before you reply. If you reply too quickly, he will ignore it. So wait like 5-10 seconds before replying, then he should continue as usual.

Noch nie gehabt, noch nie davon gehört.
Wenn es wieder passiert, kannst du einen kurzen Track hochladen?
Und zur Sicherheit, INS ist hochgefahren und bereit?

I tried, but when I select IR or Laser, the JTAC start talking and then stop. And does not answer anymore.
What is he saying and how far do you come in the dialogue?

I tried the carrier landing training mission a month or so ago & thought I would repeat it because I'm trying to practice my landings. This time, since the last update, I'm wondering if the training instructions need to be updated too. They say to close the cowl flaps & there is no mention of the oil cooler flap, which is closed. A few times doing this training mission my engine quickly seizes up before I can get to the carrier. Are these settings correct for a carrier landing?
Oil cooler closed sounds very suspicious.
Either way, check your temps. You cannot keep the coolers closed if you eventually overheat your engine.

I'm sure they did but two days searching bare no fruit on that matter that's why I'm asking. So it is not possible or no one knows how?
Well, for a starter, you would likely have to model them in blender/3ds first.
After that, you have to give them some collision model so you don't fall through.
And then, you can use either existing invisible FARPs for resupply, or try coding it as a FARP directly.
However it seems like there is a size limit. If you make it too big you might get weird shadows.
There's also someone who built a ramp for DCS, so if you experience weird glitches with the collision model, perhaps that ramp has something special, if you need guidance.

4.5 years since this topic, but not since the whole ATC topic started, which is much longer ago. So either stop caring, or keep counting.
And since you already revive this topic from it's everlasting grave:
QuoteThe big problem is that WW2 aircraft with no radio aids have no way of knowing when they reach the approach fix.
Incorrect. You are being given the distance to the point. By flying an exact speed, you can convert that to TAS, or if you know the wind, which fortunately in DCS is written out and on the whole map exactly the same, you get your GS, with which you can calculate how long you have to fly to reach that point. There's literally a stopwatch in every aircraft for that.

Also note that AI fixed wing (don't know about helicopters) cannot spawn on ground, they can only spawn on a designated spot or in the air.
If you want that aircraft to spawn on ground, set the skill level to "Client" or "Player".

Where do I put the file?
Anywhere you want, you just have to find it easily.
And how to use it is described in the very first post. Add a trigger and the do script action.

But if I trim for the cat to fly level whilst at the yellow circle, how the hell it will descend to land if all is fixed in place?
You reduce power, which in turn will slow you down, less lift, nose goes down, aircraft starts to descend. If you increase power, the aircraft will start to climb.
Or you use the elevators to pitch down and reduce the power a bit so you don't pitch up again.

In general, when someone says trim the plane, it means that you have to trim it in such a way, that there are no forces on the stick, basically the aircraft remains in a fixed attitude at a specified speed.
When someone says trim on speed, it means you have to trim it in such a way, that your aircraft maintains the perfect AoA for landing, indicated by the yellow circle.
And as it is the AoA for landing, you should be in a landing configuration. But if you do it in level flight or on the standard 3 degree glide is up to you. You just have to trim it in such a way that the aircraft maintains the on speed AoA. The trim is mostly the same, regardless if you are in a descent, level flight or climb as long as you maintain the speed. Trim changes with speed, so once you are on speed, you shouldn't have to touch trim anymore until touchdown if trimmed perfectly.
QuoteConfused with this as everyone keep throwing this word trim but never specify desired effect to be chased with it.
Trim is one of the very basics of aircraft. You can easily find hundreds of thousands of ressources online about what trim is.
Here's an example:

That doesn't look like it's coming from DCS. Were you running any other software besides DCS at the time of making that screenshot?

Would this apply to AAR as well? A few months ago I was on a PVE server doing a deep strike mission. It was late and there weren't as many players on, so decided to go with just a center tank so I could bring more ordnance. My plan was to top off at the tanker on the way in. I was just under 6000 lbs. of fuel when I got to the tanker. I connected, and didn't take on much fuel when it disconnected and told me to return to pre-cotnact. I returned to pre-contact, was cleared contact, moved in and the tanker would not connect to me. I was sitting there under the tanker staring at two green lights, but it the boom wouldn't connect to me.
I've had that happen before, but both times there was a TRP FUEL warning flashing in the HUD. Not this time though. DCS tankers seem to know you can't take fuel, but will still clear you and just won't connect.
No, in the air it should fill up all the tanks anytime.

That is correct if you had once upon a time both or either version installed (stable and openbeta).
But as nowadays they are again unified, one of them is not needed anymore.

I need a good tutorial, which explains what and when to do the right thing. Until then I will be lost-the new features make me crazy.
Well, you have tables with the limits. If you don't want to kill your engines, you need to know the limits. And then it's just adjusting MP/RPM/blower to stay within engine operating limits and working the 3 cooler handles to keep the Oil, Cylinder and Carburetor temp within the limits.
There is not much else a tutorial is able to teach you other than know the limits.
If cylinder head temp gets too hot you can either increase speed, lower MP or open the cowl flaps.
If carburetor temp gets too hot you can increase speed, change blower or open the intercooler flaps.
If oil gets too hot you can increase speed, lower MP or open the oil cooler flaps.
If you are at full throttle and MP keeps dropping, you must adjust blower.
Just to mention a few examples. If the temps get too cold you can obviously do the opposite
Look at the table on the left wall for general engine operating limits. They are probably in the manual too if you want to print it/not snap your neck.

GBU-54 Laser/GPS JDAM
in Wish List
Posted
ED has already made it's mind about that. You can see it at the tags they gave the topic:
They have to decide at some point which features to implement and which not, otherwise it could be dragged into infinity.
1) If we would get the GBU-54, we probably would have gotten a 2012 F-18 and not a 2005 one, right?
2) Having a 2005 plane in 1989 is just as unrealistic as having a 2012 introduced weapon in 2005. This argument goes both ways.
3) While technically correct, if you don't want it don't use it, I find it a very bad argument. If you want the GBU-54, just get the A-10C2. If you want the GBU-54 on the F-18, just play a different game. You don't have to use DCS. It's just such a ridiculous argument to make in my opinion.
It's the same as with the Swiss single AIM-120 launcher. It doesn't hurt anyone having it. The F-18 can carry it but it's the wrong version of what ED is trying to simulate, just like the LJDAM is the wrong weapon/period for the simulated F-18.
