Hi, can you post a short track so we can see whats going on?

When no power on the jet the brake will not function also when throttle is above approximately 75% (as far as I know) the break will disengage.

I think he's refering to the keybinds and its behaviour, not the actual brake, as explained a few posts above.

Hi, I am adding radio chatter to a mission. Is it a must to have a zone ?

No, it's not a must. You can also set a unit to broadcast on a specific frequency if you want.

Can I do it with just using "time more"?

That is a condition. If you want to have that condition to trigger the transmission in zone, sure.

I downloaded some chatter and the instructions say to create a zone , 200 radius, which is pretty small. And nowhere do you have to make any units go into it etc. The placement of the zone does not seem to be referred to either. It looks like you need to choose a zone in the actions, but why if there are no other conditions attached to the zone?

How does this work? Thanks (Included the instrcutions from the chatter)

You set up the zone as big as you want and whereever you want it to have. Any unit within the zone, if the radio is tuned properly, will hear the transmission. Your guide says 200 because it's just an example.

Also, is there any restriction on how many of these chatters you can have going and do they each need a separate zone etc?

I don't think there is a limit to how many you can set up, however, be aware that FC3 aircraft cannot tune the radio so as long as they are in the zone, they will hear the transmission.

You can also overlap multiple zones and it should work just fine as long as they are on different frequencies.

Additional infos are in the DCS 2020 User manual.

could use these for ports and cities etc

Search lights come with the WWII assets pack. They are already implemented.

just wondering, are there any other tricks to getting trains to show up when placed in ME?  Nevermind for now, because I found static train cars to place for a cargo lift mission I'm working on.  Thanks for reading!

There should not be any tricks needed. Just place them down, add some carts, move the unit icon so it snaps to the railway and add a waypoint and it should be set.

  5. You are limited to the weather presets available for now, it is very limited.

However, you have access to the cloud file that defines how each preset looks like and you can edit it and add more. That way you would be able to achieve what you want, probably.

    It's located here: DCS World/config/effects/clouds.lua

This is a weird one.  Updated my install yesterday and decided to mess with Combined Arms.  So I was trying some of the training missions and the tanks, etc were not there, only unarmed vehicles.

I tried creating my own mission with various vehicles, same thing.  Only the unarmed ones and some ADA spawned in.

Can someone try to repo this behavior?

Also  tried both Red and Blue on various maps.  Same thing.

Historical filter off (only applies to when selecting units in the editor)?

Have you removed all of your mods and ran a repair?

Can you upload an example mission?

Do Script File reads the Lua script from your HD every time you run the mission. This means that every time you tweak the script and save it, it's automatically updated in the mission. This is perfect while you're writing, testing, and iterating your scripts. The downside, though, is the mission won't work for anyone else because it'll be looking for a Lua file that only exists on your HD.

If you work on the script files it won't be automatically updated as the missioneditor will save the loaded file within the mission file itself and use that one and not the one on your drives/storage. This also means that since the scripts come with the mission, it will work for everyone else aswell.

Yes I know. I just wondered if there was a conversion formula I could use?

Interesting that he showed 70000ft and registered 88000ft. I wondered what 78000ft on the HUD would register at.

First, make sure you set the altimeter to the correct QNH.

Then, to correct for temperature, subtract 4% of the indicated altitude per 10 degrees C below ISA, or add if the temperature is above ISA.

    Ok. Had another go.

94576ft. HUD maxed out at 80000ft and wouldnt go past that.

I will upload the video asap.

There is a max altitude that the altimeter and HUD will show. Above it and it will just read the max number and stay there, so above a certain altitude you MUST use the external info bar if you want to know your altitude.

@indalo62 I‘m sorry. You are right. Just took over in your track and flew a bit longer. And even though opening the throttle does help a bit, it still slows down eventually.

Haven‘t experienced this outside your track yet. It flies as if it was pulling a drag chute.

I'm currently not on my PC but perhaps you could check the mission settings for the arcade setting (and perhaps in the mission file itself too?)

I tried twice to get that bird to fly.  Both times I uninstalled it.  It might be "realistic" but it's no fun at all.

Do you also give up after two attempts if you try something new but cannot do it?

I have no idea what your background with aviation is, but if you have little to no experience, you will need to invest some time into training before you can fly.

Best thing you can do is more training, and uploading a short track so people can give you more precise instruction.

And if learning how to fly an aircraft is not enjoyable for you, perhaps you are in the wrong genre of video games...

  11. There was an update last month or so that combined open beta and stable. Even if you still see the name "open beta", you don't have to reinstall DCS. You can ignore it and leave it as is.
