Nice work on those SAAF birds, but sigh... as always those fat kudu insignias that seem to haunt every SAAF skin made for flight sim games.

Go to an external view, or the F10 map and check either the elevation of your aircraft, or the airfield at which you are currently flying... then adjust the subscale setting on your altimeter to read that, and you will have local QNH. I find that with almost all of the aircraft, I need to set the correct QNH before flying. Only above 10000ft, do I set QNE (1013.25hPa or 29.92'')...

Hi guys, Thanks for all the replies... I have installed several other sound mods without issue (Spitfire, Mustang, UH1, FW190 etc etc)... and they are all working correctly. I have located the original sound files in the game folders, and they havent moved. I have tried everything I can think of, and what is strange is that I have exactly the same folder structure for Nevada and the sound replacements work there. Very very wierd.

Hey Razor... I do use JSGME, but not for the sound mods. As I said, they worked perfectly up until recently, and I have other similar sound mods installed in exactly the same way that work.... Really baffled by this

Hi all... I am not really a fan of the stock A10 sounds, so I have downloaded a few sound mods for the aircraft, and recently I cannot seem to get the modded sounds to work in 1.5... strangely enough they work perfectly well in 2... Any ideas? I have tried to reinstall several times but to no avail??

In the patch notes DCS M-2000C Added dynamic nose and tail numbering Added slight buffet at very high pitch rates Added airfoil aerodynamic force shift back with mach Updates to jammer switch functionality based on community feedback Updates to reduce control effectiveness at high AOA Updates to AP control tuning (some regimes still WIP) Updates to various AP logic (some features still WIP) Updates to afterburner fuel flow schedule (lower fuel flow with altitude as expected) Updates to afterburner performance for acceleration timing (reduced from previous) Updates to transonic drag modeling for performance and accelerating timing (greatly increased drag from previous) Updates to external fuel tank and 530D parasite drag values for performance and acceleration timing (minor increase) Updates to low speed AOA recovery control law for better response Updates to airfoil tables and stability coefficients to better match sustained turn rate charts (in general before had too high subsonic, too low supersonic) Updates to hydraulic system damage model Fixed AP still in standby when re-engaged when AP was previously turned off while in standby Fixed AP not allowed to disengage when in standby Fixed FBW gains on ground behavior Fixed some typos in tooltips Fixed a minor blending issue in FBW control laws Fixed engine inlet mass flow too high at high AOA Fixed engine efficiency at altitude and at idle (reduced) Fixed minor issue with drag reduction due to slats (reduction was too high previously) Fixed INS flight plan no longer will reset when rearming or refueling Will need to update the skin .lua files -
Hi all, I had started a set of WW2 P-51D skins based on several hours of research of 5 Sqn SAAF, which operated the Mustang over Italy during the later part of the war. I had a lot of trouble with the specular files, mostly cause I didnt fully understand how to work them properly, as well as the bort system in the .lua files. And then last week, I was tinkering with the skin and it started to come right.. so here we go! They will be released in a set of 4, each aircraft with its correct serial code, and squadron code. I have a camo P-51D in the works as well. Anyways, coming soon I have also been working on a generic Korean SAAF skin, with no serial codes as of yet. I will be adding in aircraft names and squadron aircraft numbers, with correct spinners, as well as the 2 Sqn Cheetah badge shortly.

Hi Chaps... Been away from creating skins in DCS for quite some time... but I had been slowly working on an adaptation of a South African Air Force favorite... We dolled up one of our Cheetah Cs to look like... well a Cheetah. We then called her Spotty, and she was a favorite at airshows for quite some time. She was retired though, and has been preserved at the South African Air Force museum at AFB Swartkorps, to live out the rest of her days, remaining firmly on South African soil, unlike her brothers and sisters which have been sold or scrapped. So I started on this one, and had a pc freeze during a very productive photoshop session and sadly, I lost a huge amount of work. The heart ache kept me away from attempting her again for quite some time, but she has been resurrected and is almost ready for release. A few of the spots still need to be sorted, as does the Cheetah's tail on, well the tail. Then just to finalize the pilot's helmet and she will be turned loose. Comments or criticism always welcome!

As always with the South African Air Force skins... I have been working on creating some skins of interest for the lovely new Spitty. I have researched the serial and squadron codes... so that are as accurate as can be given the limitations of creating skins without the templates. Thus far, using the generic RAF day fighter skin, photoshop and a bit of cunning.. I have created the following: 1 Sqn SAAF, with 145Sqn RAF in the background Keep in mind that the 145 Sqn Spits used in Italy during 1945 were predominantly VIIIs. Again, if there is interest... when they are completed I will upload them and make them available.

Hi there guys, I have been working on a collection of SAAF Sabres for quite some time. Granted, the South African Air Force flew CL13Mk6s, the work is a bit of artistic license. I have 95% completed the skins for 1 Squadron, and 2 Squadron, with research done to confirm aircraft codes, and serial numbers. I have also been working on a camo SAAF Sabre, as flown with 1 Sqn insignia. I have just a few issues to try and fix, particularly with the spec. effects on the aircraft. And lastly.. the camo Please let me know your thoughts, comments.... if there is any interest. I will also be doing some Korean era F-86s.

Hi guys, I can safely say that of all the pc games, flight sims, and now DCS modules that I've ever had or played... the Spitfire is by far the closest to home for me. For many, many years, the Spit has been my most favored of WW2 era aircraft... and the reason is this: my grandfather flew them. He always spoke so fondly of his experiences flying Spitfires, first in the North African desert, with 9 Squadron, South African Air Force, where he flew one of the rarest mod Spits. The IX SHF... 4 specially modified IXs were matched in pairs to deal with high altitude photo recon German aircraft. He had always spoken of flying a silver IX, that had been specially modified. When going through his old logbook, and read up on the SHFs.. that I realized I had found a photograph to add to the perhaps handful that exist... Spitfire MA504 I have a scan of the photo here. After flying with 9 Squadron SAAF, he was seconded to 145 Squadron RAF. Flying Spitfire VIIIs in Italy, with Neville Duke. Here he always spoke of a beautiful Spitfire with extended wingtips, which he lovingly commented on in his logbook. I have subsequently been able to track down a possible production code for the aircraft.. and I believe it to have been the very first production VIII Spitfire! ZX-V I have 2 more scans of some of his Spitfire days... Here is one of the old man, sitting in his Spit, preparing for a sortie And here he is on take off Sadly the old man passed away a few years ago, and I never got the chance to record his stories, and so they exist only as I remember him telling me, and in his logbook as proof. This module has allowed me to imagine what it was like for him, flying a Spitfire for the first time... For that I am incredibly grateful. Big thanks to the ED team, and I look forward to flying her for many, many hours!

Hi chaps... not sure if this is the right section.. but here goes! I had an initial bug with the start up tutorial, but I've managed to teach myself to start the aircraft anyway. I am having some serious issues with the control balance. Just after lift off, I experience some serious pitch oscillations, which has nearly written off a few Spits so far. I've tried setting my control curves as high as 75, but it still happens. I am really battling to get my controls set up for nice smooth flying.... Also, I realize my weak point is my logitech stick... force 3d pro (dont hate me). Any tips?

Righto.. so after downloading the SAAF Mirage scheme... I subsequently discovered this thread. Having grown up in the South Africa Air Force, I'm a die hard fan... I have always felt that the SAAF should have bought Mirage 2000s, in stead of the Gripen. Anyway... here are some very rough first looks at some of the scheme's I've adapted from real world SAAF aircraft for the Mirage 2000. First off... a 2 tone experimental camo scheme, worn by Cheetah E 842. Next up... the final camo pattern used on the F1AZs of 1Sqn. I've always felt that this is by far the sexiest air-to-ground scheme. Here is one of the main line schemes as seen on our Cheetah Cs. This is the 'air-to-air' variation Lastly... one of two specially dolled up Cheetah Cs, used on our airshow circuit. Vlaggie. I am developing these skins for the VSAAF guys I fly online with, but I will certainly upload them, once they're finished, if you guys are interested.

For your consideration.. my humble attempt at a screenshot. Fights on!

Hi there guys, As per my other thread (F-15C issue).. I'm also having a further issue after updating today... I have the following skin for the UH-1 (which I created)... to use on a server that I play most frequently on. The UH-1 skin shows up correctly SOMETIMES, and other times it comes out all wonky. But most recently, certain default skins are coming out wonky (ie the internal skins for the cockpit/pilot/cabin, are all mixed up with the external skins).. As of today, I've noted that with my custom server skins, if I zoom out far enough, this happens... where previously the skin was showing up fine What could be the issue?? Thanks in advance!

Hi there gents, Having a small issue.... My F-15s seem to be missing the default skins now, after the update. I have custom skins in the livery folder for multiplayer on the server that I usually frequent, but as of this afternoon the default skins (for those who dont have the custom skins).. are not showing up. Neither are the the skins for the AI aircraft (which is supposed to be the same as the custom skins I have)... Custom skin How AI, and default skins are showing up... I havent touched the F-15C zip file containing the default skins.. so any ideas?

Hi TaliG.. Seems like a fresh install was all that was needed, thanks so much for your help!
-
I was thinking... My UH-1 and P-51D are both carried over from Steam IDs.... I originally started playing DCS under a Steam installation, but then migrated over to a stand alone install, after I bought the A-10C and FC3 directly from the ED shop. I am worried about the number of installs I have on the Steam keys? My A-10C, and FC3 are ED keys.... and both work fine!
-
I'm having the same issue with both the P-51 and UH-1 modules... the only thing that runs ok is my FC3. Also, massive lag spikes when anywhere near a Sabre or P-51. WTF?!? #1.2.9....
-
Unfortunately not..... as far as I am aware, the CL 13 Mk 5 and 6, were different beasts entirely. Featuring uprated engines, and the Mk 6 I know for sure had slatted wings.
