Good morning Vlad, Thanks for the kind words... and yes due to current limitations the AZs have to be flown like that... CE retracted, EE extended. Having flown into Hoedspruit numerous times, I can only imagine how amazing that base would have been during its peak. Which DCS Squadron do you fly with? Thank you as well for the kind words. Basically all my skins will work in either the CE or EE folders. Just be aware that you will be stuck with the refueling probe on the EE until further notice. You can drag and drop any of the AZs skins into either the CE or EE folders.... and they should show up correctly. That final AZ livery was also always my favorite... it just look soo good on the AZ. Cheers!

Hi Vlad, I am open to correction but I believe that you should simply be able to copy and paste the AZ/CZ liveries into the CE/EE folder, and select them under South Africa. That is how I set them up to be used. I am busy updating DCS myself, so I will check if the AZ functions correctly with the EE cockpit in the morning. Please do let me know what you think of the SAAF skins, I worked quite hard to bring them up to a decent spec for the new 3d model that Aerges put together for us.

Hi there @Bremspropeller Thanks for the message, and apologies for taking so long to get back to you! I am looking into updating all my liveries for the F1.... which will include both AZ and CZs up to the new standard. Unfortunately I have a full time flying roster, and it leaves very little time for photoshop these days.... I was hoping to have everything updated more quickly than I have been able to. But rest assured they will be done up to spec. 203 (Le Spectre), will be updated.... as will 213 which flew in the standard camo during the Mig shoot down.

Hi RockMyRoot A good effort. I had done some Cheetah C inspired liveries for the M2000 some years ago. A few points to correct: The South African insignia are always as follows: The Cheetahs wore 3 different versions of the SAAF insignia, Castle and Springbok, Castle and Eagle, and then the new 9 point star (Cookie cutter) and eagle. The Springboks/Eagles always face forward on the fuselage, and they always face inwards on the wings. There were two different Cheetah C schemes that the aircraft were painted in: An air-to-air scheme which the colors were not as distinct from each other as in the pic of Cheetah C 347. The air-to-ground scheme which the diamond was darker. Good effort for your first livery, please keep up the good work!

Hi everyone... Though I may start a new thread for anyone interested in my work done on the F1. I will focus almost exclusively on SAAF liveries at this time. The F1CZ carried 2 main schemes during its service life: The Deep buff delivery scheme which has now become the default CZ livery for Aerges. The second was known as the Air Superiority Scheme, as the CZ was primarily an interceptor. The first aircraft trialed in these colors was nicknamed Le Spectre by the squadron... and she definitely validated the use of the AS scheme by claiming our 2nd MiG kill of the Bushwar. Other CZs were subsequently repainted into the AS scheme as time went by. By the time the squadron was closed down in 1992, all CZs had been repainted. Le Spectre was unique in a few ways as she had very toned down markings, and very few service stencils. There are not alot of clear photos of her to work from. This is where she stands in photoshop as of now. The final version of the AS before the type's retirement featured slightly different national insignia, and overprayed service stencils... which will come at a later date

fixed [FIXED] SAAF F1CZ Wrong paint scheme mixed era?

@Flappie @ARM505 Hi gents, thank you so much for the kind words... I am very happy that Aerges included my work in their product. I hope you guys have many hours of good hunting in her. -
I never said it couldn't be done. I was simply saying that the Mirage in question was an ex SAAF F1AZ, and that the AZ is not in the game.
-
These are Ex South African Air Force F1AZs. We do not have the option for the AZ from Aerges.

As I am a SAAF fanatic, I have naturally undertaken to play with the F1CZ liveries... Please see the following WiP: Delivery scheme, corrections include: insignia, Mirage F1CZ stencil, locations of various markings, camo pattern to that of actual CZs, pilot helmet and patches Air superiority camo... this is just a test of layout/colors. I am focusing on the delivery scheme ATM

Hi Gents.... Please note that I am working on a corrected F1CZ scheme.... Keep your eyes peeled as she moves into the Sun... -
Congrats to Aerges for the release of the long awaited F1 Mirage. I have just purchased the module.. and I would love to get stuck into creating awesome new liveries for the jet. Any idea as to when we may get a texture template released? Sadly I won't be able to actually fly the F1 until September.... but I am very much looking forward to it!

Good day all, I would humbly like to submit my attempts for the competition. An adaptation of the 3 tone camouflage used on the South African Rooivalk... but applied to the Apache. The pattern was created to be as close as reasonably possible to the actual Rooivalk, with probably over 100hrs of time put in. Specifics of the camouflage were recreated using images of Rooivalk to ensure shapes and patterns were matched, given the dimension and shape differences between the two helicopters. Squadron badges on the exterior were created using a hi resolution photograph. There are 2 schemes available: The first featuring high visibility markings as if the type had just entered service with the South African Air Force and 16 Squadron (who currently operate the Rooivalk). The insignia were created for this skin as a combination of parts of old SAAF insignia with new. The pilots have SANDF Soldier 2000 pattern flak jackets and pouches, with high visibility squadron patches, and wings. 16 Squadron Early The second is a 'late' service aircraft, where the sensor suite has been replaced (hence the change in color). The insignia were created from images of the current insignia carried by SAAF aircraft. The pilots still feature the SANDF Soldier 2000 pattern flak jackets and pouches, but now with operational squadron patches, and wings, there is also a tribute to 16 Squadron heritage with the image applied to the pilot's helmets (only visible from the exterior currently). The aircraft has some nose art applied, and has 3 successful strikes recorded. 16 Squadron Late Rooivalk pictures used with permission from the owner @BIGNEWYlinks updated

Quick question... I'm using the template from the ED site, and have made several skins for other modules... but the colors of the Apache are not coming out correctly in the game, compared to photoshop. I'm saving the .dds files as BC7 8bpp Fine (sRGB, DX11+) I've even tried to use the eye dropper to copy colors that are close to the ones I'm to use, but they still come out wrong? Thanks in advance.

This is fantastic news. I am most definitely looking forward to the F1 in DCS. As a young South African boy going to airshows, I can always remember the F1s being the highlight of the program, except for the C-130. I believe that South Africa was the launch customer for the F1C, and I do not think that there were too many differences between the French and South African variants (bar maybe the English layout in the cockpit). Mirage F1 in SAAF service The F1 has been my favorite fighter jet for many many, years followed closely by the F-16. I cannot wait to see this F1 in DCS, and I know I will be making some SAAF textures for it before long. I am not sure if I could get my hands on information for the F1AZ (Ground attack variant), but perhaps that could be a possibility one day? The F1A was also used by Libya. Keep 'em coming!

My first Virpil order arrived this morning... ordered during the last lottery run on the 5th of June. Not bad to get it all the way to South Africa, during Covid crisis.... Just wish I was home to enjoy it now.
-
Had my first run of the lottery system... Spent a good hour trying, succeeded in adding the Alpha grip to my cart twice, then a Warbrd base... then finally the throttle set. As with most others... ran into multiple page issues, payment issues. By the time I got to confirm and checkout, the Alpha was out of stock.... :joystick: So for my first run, I managed to get a throttle and base. I'm counting myself lucky I guess, as it narrows down my next run in the lottery (whenever that is)... All in all, a very frustrating process, but the shopping hour has been nothing compared to the last 4 months of real life.... Now, how long does it take to process and ship??

Hi chaps, I have begun to play with the Spitfire paint kit again... I have created a few of my own SAAF skins for the Spit in the past, but have now jumped back at it again. First up.... a 7 Squadron desert Spitty Post War Italian campaign. I will add squadron codes later Post war, 1 Squadron This is also a post war, 1 Squadron Spit, but still in camo. The Air Force restored a gate guard IXe (low back), to flying condition, and it was painted in these colors. Unfortunately the aircraft experienced an engine failure in flight, and hit a brick wall on final approach some years ago, but there are efforts to restore here back to static display 40 Squadron, Italian campaign. There was another Spitfire that was restored in SA, and it was painted in these colors, as the personal mount of the then Chief of the Air Force, Bob Rodgers. The aircraft was sadly sold to Brazil. There is still one or two more that I would like to do, but I shall look at releasing these fairly soon, if there is any interest.
