  1. Sad to see the flak and vitriol currently directed at LN over this project. The teasing game was too much to handle for those who got drunk on their own hype. I won't buy it, since time and money for DCS are limited and it doesn't really interest me that much. Also a bit worried that aerobatics would be too much for me to stomach in VR! Still, wishing all the best to LN for this project and the next! :pilotfly:
  2. Yes, I can appreciate that. What I'm saying is that if someone compromises my machine to that extent, my DCS account will be the least of my worries, and it would be a sad hacker indeed who would rummage through my emails and think "Digital Combat Simulator... This is where the gold is!". :joystick:
  3. I think whoever would be targeting you through those means would have other goals than fishing out your login for a flight sim. :D I voted 90 days by default, but even 90 days is inadequate in my opinion. I won't list the many reasons why 3 days is unacceptable, and 90 could still cause issues, because there are many posts that already explain the different concerns - and I don't understand why ED could not think of those beforehand. I'm disappointed at the way this new DRM was rolled out and hope that there will be a course correction. If you must phone home, surely there are ways to do it that are less potentially disruptive to your paying customers. Adding my voice here since the official thread was closed. Thanks for reading.
  4. Very disappointed with this new copy protection system. 4 days max between validated online checks is a ridiculously short period of time. I used to have a bad ISP with regular service interruptions and this DRM system would have sometimes stopped me from playing DCS. My current ISP is better but there's no predicting the future and when/where I move next. I also know players with jobs that entail long periods of time away from reliable internet access (military and merchant marine) and they would be affected by this. Granted, that may be a few percents of ED's customer base, but I don't like seeing them thrown under the bus. Regardless of individual circumstances, this system will also make modules unplayable if/when ED's authentication servers become inaccessible. StarForce is bad but this is not good either. I'm hoping ED will reconsider the details of this system and at the very least greatly extend the allowed period of time between online checks (frankly, this should be months, not days). Having the game phone home every 4 days to allow solo/offline play seems ham-handed. Thank you for reading.
  5. Now that looks awesome! Hope you guys had a good time!
  6. You fly, then when you arrive in the area of operations, activate the autopilot and jump in front of the radar screen. When it's time pack it in, you jump back into the cockpit for the return to the carrier. Assuming properly integrated voice coms and radar control ops, that'd be appealing to me. Yes, probably a niche (support aicraft/air defense controller) within a niche (DCS) within a niche (flight sims)...
  7. Right on. Due to the low resolution of the Rift, I often have to use VR Zoom, and I find the current implementation aggravating. It is so slow: waste of time and even somewhat disorientating. It should be much, much faster or even instantaneous (I believe there's research supporting this). I really hope ED will improve it, should be a pretty easy tweak. And yes, for me now, despite the shortcomings, it's Rift or nothing. I hope ED gives VR the support it deserves. Can't wait for 4k headsets with fps-saving foveated rendering...
  8. Beautifully said. I agree with your post, with the caveat that even with a top of the line computer, performance in DCS will unfortunately be marginal at times (often 45 fps instead of 90, and sometimes less than 45 fps). I'm really hoping ED can optimize the engine further, because for me, it's VR or nothing now. But back to the Mirage 2000: I just bought it a few days ago and indeed, this is a fine module. Keep up the good work, Razbam! There are still bugs and unfinished systems, but you guys are almost there. Looking forward to a finished module in the next few months, hopefully. :D
  9. Is there any time of the day/week when the teams are somewhat balanced? I just took a look and it's 18 on Blue, almost all on Simple Radio, with GCIs, against 4 on Red, no GCI, nobody on the radio. :noexpression:

  11. Just checked and I do have the artifact as well. Current Release branch 1.5.6.4546.280. No mod of any kind installed.
  12. It's not a web link, it's the address for the Teamspeak server. Put "openconflictserver.typefrag.com" in your TS client and it will connect. I just did, it's up.
  13. Nice catch! Yeah, it looks like the wing flex makes apparent the fact that some vertices on the mesh haven't been properly welded, exposing back faces inside the wing (which aren't rendered and therefore appear transparent). Should be an easy fix.
  14. Ah okay. That's weird. I wish I could be of help but I don't own the module (I'm just wondering whether I should buy it or not). Hopefully someone in the know can chime in.
  15. See this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=176907 Seems like it's the same or related issue? It's been reported since november last year. I was wondering if it had been fixed, looks like the answer is "no".
