I think he is a few feet to high. You can actually see him above the Snow Cover. Have to talk to his commanding officer about that. The proper flying altitude in winter for an attack viggen is when the External tank is half submerged in the snow.

If you have the Open Beta version then you will have the New INS system. As well as the change in the Manual. If you are using the release version then you wont have the changes. Hopefully the release version will be updated with all the changes on Friday.
-
Hopefully that means we might be getting close. Atleast close to some official news.
-
Well atleast we will finaly get some Fast strike aircraft. While the AJS 37 might not have the payload of the A-10 or Su-25T it will be able to get in and out much faster and at much lower risk. As its just as fast as the fighters. (Mach1+ on sea level and mach 2 at altitude) And then with the F/A-18 we will have a proper multirole.

Yes the Romanian Lancers can use the Magic II. But The Lancer is very upgraded. For example this is a Mig-21 Lancer cockpit. Slightly different from what we have in game. It also has a new radar etc and pretty much completely new Avionics. So its a very different beast then the Mig-21Bis. There are some Pictures of what claims to be a Indian Mig-21MF-75s with Magic II missiles (and some other mention of Mig-21s carrying MagicsI/IIs) But ive been unable to find any mention of what modifications needed. (since its not simply plug/play there would be some modifications needed but cant find how extensive it would have to been).
-
Well first. Did those Mig-21s use the Magic I or Magic II?. For the Iraqis it would be the magic I as they never had the Magic II (that we have in the game) And the Indians had both Magic Is and IIs but my guess would be even if they had mig-21s that could use Magic IIs that only the Bisions would be Magic II capable. They got the Magic Is in the 70s and the Magic IIs for the Mirage-2000 in the 80s/90s. So if some users could make the Bis able to use the Magic I (with minimal modifications) then sure maby. But i would have to see documentation before i would think they could use the Magic II as well. (The Magic I is the earlier Rear-Aspect only variant of the Magic II)

VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
mattebubben replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That looks quite good. Looks Reasonably wide and i think im gonna try to order a pair. And especially since the Bar is so wide i think i should have no problems with them. Thank you for your photos and your experience. I think they made me make up my mind =). I think im gonna try to get a pair when their are available. -
VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
mattebubben replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well what is comfortable differs between many (if not most) Body Stature / Size Etc. I have plenty of friends with the CH Pedals for example that have no problem with them and find the comfortable. But for me they were way to narrow and were very uncomfortable for me (outright painful after a few minutes of active use) Im a large guy. (198 cm and 130kg) And my Natural Stance is a bit wide legged. So im trying to find what fits me. (been looking at the Saitek pedals as they seem wider then the CH pedals etc but been unable to find any for sale in Sweden/Europe) And atleast from the numbers i can find the Saitek pedals are significantly wider then the CH Pedals and the insides of the VKB pedals. (Number i could find for the Saitek Pro where 21Cm compared to the 10 of the CH and 12,5 between the insides of the VKB Pedals) and 21 vs 10 or 12 is in my eyes more then almost the same distance. But then again i dont know how wide you can get on the VKB depending on where on the pedals you place your feet. -

And the CH Pedals are about 100mm in the same measurement =P. So not a significant difference =P. If thats how narrow they are that might rule them out for me. But then again the "Foot Bars" seem to be pretty wide. So if i would have my feed closer to the middle or the outside of the "pedal" then it would add some distance on the width. So it could work =P. Question to any owner. Are you able to have your feet Shoulder width apart and keep the feet (comfortably) on the pedals? Il think about it (The next batch on Amazon is not due for a few more days anyway) But this looks like my best option atm (and everybody ive talked to who has a pair loves them). -

Does anybody know how narrow the VKB pedals are (How close together the Feet are then they are on the Pedals) Kinds hard to estimate from the pictures. Ive been desperately looking for a Pair of rudder pedals for a while now. I tried the CH Pedals but they are to narrow for me to use comfortably. The Saitek Pedals seem to be out of stock in most places in Europe. And the MFGs are alot of money as well as there is the waiting time. So the VKB Pedals would be a very interesting option. Just need to know if i will have the same problem with them as i did the CH (The pedals being to close together) -
Soon™ (This year and before the F-14 but no official date/Timeline has been announced)

Would be interesting if someone could try the maneuver in the Mirage 2000. Since it having a very good instantaneous turn rate (being a delta and all) It aught have a better chance then any other fighter in the game atm (atleast that would be my guess).

Ask cobra. He might need a child sacrifice for the gods. Maby thats what they have been waiting for before an announcement / release. They need to appease the gods to ensure good omens. Everybody must give up a child (preferably a first born but everybody is free to pick your least favorite child) for a blood sacrifice to Odin! And then we will finally have our Viggen!!!. Hail to Odin! the All Father!

And ontop of the RB 04E you also have the More advanced RBS 15 Anti ship missile which i think would have even less trouble. and you might be able to use the RB75T (AGM-65 with the heavy warhead) though that would demand getting closer. (where as the RB 04E and RBS 15 could both do it BVR) It mostly depends on angles though. For example if the missile was either going head on or in chase it would be no problem. If it was side to side it would be a trickier shot atleast for the RB 04E and RB75T but i still think it would be very possible as most landing craft where within its duties. (70 knost might be to fast for a early AGM-65 to get a good intercept but i dont know) But as sated if it passed infront of the RB04s Seeker and it locked on it should be able to cope with the speed of the target if it still has enough energy to maneuver (so depending on the range it was launched from) But the Later RBS 15 should have no problems even against fast moving landing craft. But Depending on the range / target aspect angle some pilot skill might come into play as you might have to give some slight lead to a target moving at such speed. Since you cant designate a target for the missile before launch. You simply launch towards where you want it to look for targets (RBS 15 is more advanced and can be told where to go and can be given waypoints for a route) So for a longer range Launch against a Ship moving at higher speed you might have to give slight lead to ensure its still within the seekers search zone when missile gets close enough to detect the target.

For the moment you can only get the Mig-29 by buying the FC3 module. (It includes the Mig-29A,Mig-29S,Mig-29G variants as well as other aircraft like the F-15C,A-10A,Su-25A,Su-27 and Su-33.) After the Mig-29s get their new flight model (probably later this year) they will likely be available as a separate module but for now its only as a part of the Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) module (DLC).
-
They are both Getting new Visual Models (with the S and A models being slightly different in shape etc) My guess is the A just happened to be ready first. So instead of delaying the new Visual model for the A until the S was done as well they simply released it when it was ready. My guess is we will have the new mig-29S model soon enough. But then again i mostly fly the A anyway (even in MP) so i have no complaints =).

Will you guys Update to 1.5.4 Open beta or will you wait for the release version (as you usually do)?

And also for those wanting the entire Story Translated it was done a "few" pages ago (Page 55 Post 566 ^^) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2601502&postcount=566

Sadly these Tactics of using Chaff does not apply or work in DCS =(. As chaff works in a very simplistic way.
-
And also another thing to note. That the use of these kinds of Countermeassure pods was not uncommon for strike aircraft during this time period. For example the Panavia Tornado (Strike and ECM variants) (Germany,Britain and Italy) All used a Countermeassure pod that is the continuation of the Pod carried by the Viggen. So giving up a Pylon for a dedicated Countermeasure pod was not all that uncommon. It was just less of a issue for the Tornado as you had a few more pylons so all aircraft could carry one without loosing armament (as the Tornado is a larger aircraft) Where as for the Viggen they adapted the tactics so not all aircraft would need to carry a pod.
-
Sure (and i have read that part of the manual) But i was thinking more that we dont know how many packets are released at once. So we dont know how many groups of chaff you can dispense before you run out. That part of the Manual only tells the time it takes depending on which of the automated settings is used. So it does not really give any hints on how many Manual Chaff releases you can do before the Pod is empty. That part of the manual was more about the Automatic Countermeasure System / Settings then it was about the specifics off the pod etc.
-
Correction 56 flares (but 26 Cartridges with 2 flares in each cartridge) And also while we know of many Chaff packets (if these numbers are accurate) i could not find anything how how many Chaff packets are released at a time. 1 at a time or 2 at a time of 5 at a time. since that makes a Huge difference in how long it lasts and how many time you can release chaff.
-
Well my understanding is not that they have added Ripple Quantity settings. But rather. The Practice Rockets fire 1 rocket at a time. (and the pods are pretty much the same as far as i can tell) So it should have been possible to wire Real" rockets to fire one at a time as well even if that was never procedure / was never done. My understanding is not that they have added fictional Ripple Quanity Controls. But rather you can either have the Practice Rocket setting of one per press or the live rocket setting of FIRE EVERYTHING!!!. But this is just my understanding of the situation so i could very well be wrong.
-
Only number ive been able to find is 540 Chaff Packets and 28 Flare Cartridges (each Flare Cartridge having 2 flares so 56 flares total) Thats the only number ive been able to find so far cant say if its 100% correct or not. And as i dont really know how many Chaff packets are launched at a time(or how large each packet is) i dont really know how many chaff discharges one would get. (with the Flares it could either be 2 flares per discharge = 28 discharges or 1 per discharge = 56 but my personal guess would be 2 flares per discharges). But either way you should have enough seeing the procedure was around 1-2 passes and then run for home (as you should be able to get the ordnance off in 1 or 2 passes).
-
You only need to sacrifice 1 pylon (as the pod has both Chaff and Flares and it has plenty of it) (you can carry two chaff/flare pods but one has plenty enough) but you also have a jammer pod that you can carry (so if you want both a jammer and chaff pod) but then again having 3 or 4 BK 90s or AGM-65s dont make a massive difference. Id rather carry 3 and get home then carry 4 and either not getting back to base or not getting all missiles off. And also you have 7 pylons but only 4 are capable of carrying Air-Ground Weapons. (Centerline is for external outer wing pylons are for Air-Air missiles only) But using low level flying and speed should give you a pretty good chance to avoid most missiles.
