  1. You'd likely benefit from the ASW, and to use that you need Win 8+.
  2. It leaves me guessing if their excuse is legitimate or one based from developer apathy and laziness, though that's an argument to be made another day. #disappointed
  3. I'm going to wait and see what Oculus does with ASW and W7. I don't find it in good taste to back door upping the minimum OS requirements with an enhancement that actually makes the hardware requirements lower.
  4. Barnacules has a great video on W10: Back OT (sort of): I'm hoping to get someone from Oculus to respond here: https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/43625/asw-and-windows-7-users-are-we-out-of-luck#latest Anyone else who wants to stick with W7 should give it a reply and say so ;)
  5. Any confirmation that ASW only functions on win8+ and not of Win7?
  6. What's the path for that LOG file?
  7. It's not working for me :/ (so it appears)
  8. I'd like to know this too :)
  9. A user-selectable function to allow for changing the text color and size of the tooltips would be a good idea. This way VR pilots could change the text to a higher contrasting color if they wanted (I would make mine blue, and larger) *it works, doesn't it?*
  10. I'd like to see the tooltip boxes be made to accommodate the text within them and not any larger; the box should scale according to the amount of information being displayed. We should have the option in a LUA file at the least to resize the text as well to make it more legible in VR.
  11. I'd like to see labels that scale in size from small for distant objects to normal size (default) when you're within X distance from the labeled object.
  12. One time I spent five days in a helicopter...way back when...flying 10 hours a day. One morning I made the mistake of having a big "American" breakfast before the hop...I was young and let's just say I never made that mistake again :D
  13. It's VR technology. base simulation frame rates equal to or more than the VR HMD's refresh rate are desirable. When base frame rates are less than the HMD refresh rate there's always a risk if VRID to some users. While some may not consider it an issue, others may. VRID Tip: Close your eyes and immediately stop the VR session. Rest and avoid movement until your brain recalibrates. There have been a few instances where I have had it, albeit rare. Stopping the VR session is the best thing I found to do. And yes, back when DCS had VR barely going it was a real puke-fest with the DK2...gutting it out also helps :joystick:
  14. Frame rates are critical. This is why ED and other developers MUST dedicate ample effort to improving their engine so that frame rates are always 90+ in VR. VR is the future. Those developers who make every effort to accommodate the VR experience into their works will be rewarded in the years to come. Those who neglect it will only get to regret they did not when they fall by the wayside. My personal experience from over two years of using VR (and having had several head injuries with long term side effects *recovered fully*) is that any VR induced disorientation felt is normally triggered by frame rate drops to levels significantly below the CV1's refresh rate of 90hz. NB - FPS games are entirely different and can cause VRID for other reasons not related to frame rates.
  15. use a remapper like SVMapper, Xpadder or Joytokey to remap a stick/throttle/other button or key to NP5. You can set it directly in the config options.
  16. @frollo - Go to your VR tab. You can trap the mouse to the game window there.
  17. Our good friend Richard in NZ has a full on motion/VR setup for racing and flying:
  18. Did you use Notepad++ to make this edit?

  21. Yes, thank you...I have used it. I am thinking, now, that I'd like to get rid of the trees entirely if it's possible. :joystick:
  22. Here's a relevant question for ED developers: Is it possible to turn off the trees and their shadows entirely? They seem to knock frame rates to a degree. My intention in asking this question is to be able, of course, to speed up my frame rates with VR and to also take advantage of any optimizations/tweaks we can in an effort to squeeze out all the frame rates possible. Even though multi-threaded and multi-GPU features will likely never come with DCS, there could be ways we can tune the game for better VR experiences. Even high end systems are crippled. ED really should guide us on whatever possible to help us make whatever adjustments we can make. Thank you.
  23. Did they fix the smudgieness? Edit the LUA for your stars and make them a lot smaller. Mine are at ~250 as well.
