  1. Hi all - How does the Normandy map run with the Oculus? @Mad Dog - I recommend to test your overclocking with Furmark. Adjust incrementally with Afterburner a bit at a time and run Furmark each time to check stability.
  2. DSD Components work in DCS without issue :) Just connect and then setup just like any other controller. I use two of our own for DCS (and everything else). There's info on the DSD Site, and you'll find thousands of links about DSD Components on a google search. I'm still here :) Been very busy and taking some time in Elite Dangerous as well. I'm looking forward to the Hornet coming out sometime *soon*.
  3. I run Andre's shaker program. My setup has two Dayton Audio shakers and one 100w plate amp. Those are connected to a second sound card, an Asus Xonar. The whole setup is under 200 bucks. You can adjust the levels as you want. I have them low, but they can get very strong. Keeping them low keeps the effects subtle. Shakers don't make any appreciable sound. Andre's program is a must have! https://dreamsimteam.blogspot.ru/p/downloads.html
  4. The percentage increase in resolution is (10 x PD)^2 - I luv math!

  6. DK2 works. I have the DK2 running on my old system and the CV1 on my new one. I hope Oculus keeps supporting it.
  7. One of my technician's has this and brought it in today to show me. It's VERY well made and appears to be a bit softer than the stock foam. There is, however, more gap at the nose since there is no foam there. I was impressed with the quality of the cushion and frame. They did a good job on it.
  8. It won't make any difference to performance.
  9. Bravo!!!
  10. The entire premise of a good button controller is that the user does not need to be looking at them to use them. Any good button controller has design features which are robust and have varied tactile responses which offer the operator ease of use, and allow the right control elements to be used at the instant they are needed. Ultimately the goal is to prevent unnecessary distractions while simultaneously enhancing gameplay. The analogue design demands have been used in aircraft and auto design for decades...well, anything designed for human-machine interaction, actually... I'm a big DCS-VR fan (as some may know), and have been using our own DSD button devices with DCS and VR since the 0400 runtimes :) Surely the need for positive tactile experience is essential in our components, and that's been one of the overarching demands all along. Enough about me, though... Speaking of DCS and VR, what does ED have planned for DX12 support?
  11. Simultaneous Multi-Projection is a proprietary rendering technology used on NVidia 1080/1070 cards (possibly the lower 10xx series). What it does is basically double the frames generated for VR use (more technical than that, but you get the idea). Since implementing this feature would be a boon to VR users flying DCS, and since most of them use these cards (or will when the 1080ti's arrive), will ED ever implement this? If not, do they have alternative means to achieve the same end of essentially doubling VR frame rate performance? If not and if they do not have alternatives, why not?
  12. :pilotfly::joystick: :lol:
  13. I'd fear a malfunction like this:
  14. :cheer3nc:
  15. The 4790 has the second-to-best single core performance. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html The 1080 may be 5% more capable than the 980ti; and that's being nice: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html I'm not here to debate and don't really care what anyone uses.
  16. 4790+980ti is all you need. Since ED won't support the special rendering features for VR of the 1080/70 cards, there's no sense in getting one, IMHO.
  17. PD = 2+ is ambitious :) WRT whitav8's comment about god rays...The DK2 running DCS on my other system is quite good, and comparing it against the the CV1 on my main system reminds me of how good it actually is. If they could have the screen resolution of the CV1 on the DK2, it would be great! The god rays really suck, and even though they're not too bad on my own CV1, they suck. The DK2 is really clear comparatively speaking.
  18. yes, please...throwing money at the screen!
  19. If DCS utilized multiple CPU cores and ran with SLI as well as nvidia's new SMP, a 6950X with three 1080ti's might do it. Absent that, there is no hardware to accomplish what you want.
  20. @florate: We use a dk2 on a 3820k/GTX780 machine, and it has good performance in DCS and other games. The rule with VR is that more power equals better results. Like hasan said above, forget SLI. Great news, Matt! Thank you for making this post and update here. It's appreciated!
  21. It's unrealistic to use an external screen when using VR.
  22. Flyinside does the zoom really well. They call it the "Binoculars". You bind a button to activate it and then an axis to zoom in and out at the user's setting. Activating it takes you to the last zoom power and deactivating it takes you back to 1x. The changes from on and off are instant. I'd prefer DCS would just automatically go to the zoom setting instead of zooming in like it does. Doing it like FI does would be optimal.
  23. The box is there for the training missions. What's the need to disable it when it's not there on cold start missions? It's good that ED has acknowledged it's something they are looking to correct. Hopefully this fix will come sooner than later.
