DCSFlightpanels (DCSFP) thread. Saitek Pro Flight Panels & DCS
TheHighwayman replied to a topic in DCS Modding
Okay, I have figured out how to interact and program the panel! Now, how do I get it to interact with specific DCS modules in my OpenBeta installation? Thanks! -
Saitek G switch panel - clueless how to set up

I've made some progress. I am now able to interact with the device and configure it. However, I am still unsure how to make the device work with specific modules in my OpenBeta installation. Still, progress is progress, right? -

Saitek G switch panel - clueless how to set up
TheHighwayman replied to TheHighwayman's topic in Home Cockpits
Unfortunately, no it is not there. I see my X-55 throttle and stick there, but nothing else. Device is plugged into a USB port. -
Hello! I bought my first panel, a Saitek G switch panel. I then attempted to install BIOS and Pro USB Panels, and became very confused. I read through comments and searched for folders and files that weren't there, despite navigating to the correct location (Users/myname/dcsopen-beta/mission editor...). At this point I have no idea what I am doing, or not doing. I need a step by step guide that isn't technical. I got half a sentence into the BIOS help files and hit words that I do not understand and are not found in the dictionary. There's too much help out there with too much jargon and not enough clarity or simplicity for a simpleton like me. Can anyone help me from scratch? I've completed the first step... 1. Plug in the Saitek G planel to a USB port. 2? Thanks. Sorry for being THAT guy.

I am confused beyond measure... lol WHAT do I do? WHEN do I do it? and HOW do I do it? There's a lot of help out there, but it's rather "technical" and I simply don't speak the language. Sorry for being that guy. -

Would it be possible to make a more user friendly instruction guide? Unzip the files into the folder where you want to keep the program. - What files? -Where do I install them? -In what order do I do things? You start the application by executing ProUsbPanels.exe -Then what? -Where do I start? -Is are there pictures or a video? Problems? Try running FP as "Administrator". You do not need any additional drivers Great. But what's the DCS-BIOS thing? -How does that work and why? -How do I get everything running? If a person does not have much familiarity with this project or installing files and getting things to work, they will really struggle with this. As for me, I am at a loss and I am trying to figure everything out by trial and error. To the person in the know, this is childishly simple. But to an outsider, this might as well be a foreign language. That said, thank you for your work. If I figure this out, I will probably write up my own tutorial and post it. -
Is is possible to select weapons with keyboard or stick? I have an X-55 Rhino stick and throttle. So far, even after reviewing the BETA manual, all I can see to select weapons is the dial on the right. Please tell me I can bind a key or a switch? Thanks for any help!

I am mastering the 109, I think it's a fantastic module! Question: What is your preferred method for controlling your roll trim? I imagine that the torque of the engine is causing the plane to roll, but I'm sure the pilots compensated for this somehow. Are you adjusting prop pitch, rudder? I understand there is NO feature for adjusting roll trim, as this was not included in the design of the original aircraft. I'm all over the place in my attempts, and I'm sorry to say, I'm too inexperienced to work this out without a couple pointers. I'm shooting in the dark. Thanks for sharing!

IT WORKED PERFECTLY! Elevator Trimmer Switch Climb and Descend
-
Thank you guys, I'll try that solution.

Yes, I think so. However it didn't do anything. Perhaps I am trimming the wrong item? Can you tell me what item you trim?

When I fly my F-5, it pitches up for nothing. I expect the nose to pitch a little with full throttle, but even when I am cruising, the nose wants to pitch up. I constantly have to apply forward pressure on the stick, and if I kick on the afterburner, I have to push the stick almost full forward to remain level. It's a lot of work. I don't have this issue with my other modules, and I have checked my keymap and axis tune. I even set a little dead zone so when the stick is neutral, it doesn't send any input. Is this a known bug, or quirk of the aircraft? Am I missing something? Thanks!

So does this mean if the host runs the mission with "easy radio" it should resolve the problem?
-
You misunderstand, as I was not clear in my OP. Apologies, I was badly distracted at that moment and pressed for time. I am talking about calls to wingman and AWACS. My wingman does not hear my formation, nor can I hear updates from AWACS or do they hear my requests. The radio is set to the correct frequency. The radio works in singleplayer. But in multiplayer --nothing.

I have built a custom mission for the MiG 21, and it works amazing in single player. However, when it is run on a multiplayer server, I hop into my MiG and nobody can hear me on the radio. This appears to be a bug. Any advice?

I have set the language to English, but it only appears in Russian for me. Am I missing something? DCS 1.5

I like being able to cheat and stand up and look behind me to see who's about to shoot me down. LOLOL

I'm having trouble keeping off the grass on the narrow taxiways out of bunkers in 1.5. I generally manage, but now and then I over or under correct. This is embarrassing, and is a problem with proficiency, but it's exacerbated by the fact the grass is also some kind of quicksand. It's most pronounced when the nosewheel enters the grass. Just touching it makes the plane come to a stop and it will not move no matter what. It's terribly unrealistic. I'm experiencing the problem in the MiG 21. Anyone else noticing the same?

Well that's unfortunate. The good news is it can be fixed. As I get closer to completing the campaign, I will review and probably rewrite some of the messages and add more. I hope to tell a story through the course of the campaign. Your help is appreciated! Have a peek at this one next. I can't beat it. LOL https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=173319

I am building a series of mission for a campaign. I am learning how to build missions, but I think I am getting decent. Maybe not good, but decent. I test all my own missions several times, and eventually I get things working fairly well. However, I play a certain way and other players may have a different experience. I would appreciate a play test and review of my mission. There is no briefing yet, so I'll provide a rundown. DCS 1.5 Player plane: MiG - 21bis Side: Red "Southeria" Allies: Russia Mission time: c30-45 minutes Situation, Southeria is nearly at war with America who wants to grab newly-discovered oil reserves in the tiny country via regime change. NOTE: This is a fictional situation and NO political statement is expressed or implied. Mission: A transport plane from Russia is flying in. Your mission is to rendezvous with the transport and escort it to base. Additional information: 1. Watch your fuel, don't go crazy with the afterburner. 2. Use F-10 to rendezvous with the transport. There is no way as of yet to get ground control to guide you to a friendly group. After rendezvous, AWACS will suffice for information. 3. You have AWACS available. 4. Mission ends when the transport dies or lands at base. Your critique is the courtesy I request for getting to play a sneak preview. I will probably remove the file after awhile. Please let me know both what you like and what you dislike. Protips welcome. Good luck! O4F_3_Boring_Escort.miz

Alas, I don't think I know how to create a table or know what that means. Would this be a spreadsheet? I thought of a crude way to get the group to announce its position however. By having the transport fly a set path with several waypoints, I can predict its position. I can then set a flag and have it report its position periodically. Still, this is crude, and fairly imperfect. And it relies on having a rather competent player who is well aware of his own position. That can be hard over open ocean where most of the mission takes place.

Thank you, that's good feedback.
