Here is my Main Instrument Panel Drawings. These drawings are for both people who want to install Real Instruments, Instruments Replicas and for those who want a Glass cockpit, with a monitor behind all instruments. But i will upload a version only for Glass Cockpits, as those MIP dont need to have as much Material removed. This is also Version 1.0, so you can keep track if it happens that i add, or make changes. Dimensions and Cutting Templates, both in 1:1 printable PDF and in DXF. http://lynx.dk/blueprints/A-10C%20MIP%20Real%20Instruments%20Dimensions%20v.1.0.pdf http://lynx.dk/blueprints/A-10C%20MIP%20Real%20Instruments%20Printable%20v.1.0.pdf And here is the DXF: lynx.dk/blueprints/A-10C%20MIP%20Real%20Instruments%20v.1.0.dxf The Dimensions and mounting template for the Glareshield is next. :)

Your right, it can be used with a monitor running Helios. But it will also be able to hold real instruments, as you can see in Mac's pictures, i believe the Altimeter and the VVI are real instruments. When i get my MIP finished i will post pictures of the thing with a monitor behind it. But the pictures Mac posted really shows it, hes just missing the instrument bezels and the monitor :) Its looking really good Mac, your paint job really looks like its one big piece. And the installed Glareshield just make it stand out :) Looking forward to see the rest of your MIP when you recieve the Bezels im making for you :)

Hey Warhog. You are 100% correct, it is a big problem to find a monitor that fits, and i dont really think there is any, unless they get specially manufactored. And even the 4:3 sized one i have found, have problems because they either sticks out the side as you also mention, or they are ruining the view of the instruments beside it. So the solution as you mention, to design these for the available screens might end up as the best way to do this. I have a 27" behind mine, and i can see allready that its not wide enough either, it will miss 6mm of the outer edge of each MFCD. And if you choose a 28" you have the problem with it sticking too far out the sides of the MIP, and im not even sure it even fits in the height, i mean, if its so high that you cant have your legs moving freely. However, there might be one solution, which is to accept that the screen stick out the side, and i know its ugly. But take a look at these 2 pictures, this show that both the A-10C and the A version also had to make room for the Displays installed. BUT off course its behind the MIP, and they dont stick out the side so they are visible. But it might just be to make a nice cover, that at least could give it a more "finished" look, like its ment to be. I know other people use a number of different screen behind their MIP, and there might be a solution to fix this that way, i just havent seen it yet. So yes... this is not a finished sized project, it might need a little change in dimensions. Personally i also plan on installing a "bag" on top of my Glareshield, like this a-10C have: That can also hide a little of that screen sticking out the back.

Looking forward to see your pictures Mac :) Im working on the Right Console, and as you can see here, im close to cut them at assemble for testing. I made this design as they are kinda "tapped" together, so they can be glued, and only need a few angles. When they have been tested and i know they work, the drawings will be released here and on my website :)

Electronics like the buttons yes :) Its the same procedure as for the UFC and CDU. And im also going to make the Fuel RCVR handle knob. Its on the list of all the knobs for the plane, which im slowly designing, so that they are ready when i start producing the panels :)

Sry for the delayed posts i promised... but i have had alot going on lately.... Hope you understand :) Hopefully i will soon have more time, and then more things will happen in this thread :)

This is indeed going to happen, i have just had alot of stuff going on lately, both real life and this :) For info i can show you the design of the CUB2: http://lynx.dk/blueprints/CUB_2-1.pdf There will be 4 Potentiometers present, With one of them having a Center position click. Again like the first these engravings is just for the premade A-10C, but can be custom Engravings to fit your needs. Also we have been working on different materials for trying to bring the price down, and also been on a greter hunt for better deal of larger quantities of switches. A suitable Push button are found: We have also found a suitable Backlight solution, however, people can easily install their own LED strips within the box, and get same results, pictures will follow, but we are using these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291512124299 Finally we are working on the Arduino Code, so we are releasing a version, that even tho its using toggle switches, the unit send a signal once the switch is activated, but dosnt stay on, and then send the signal again when deactivated. This makes it possible to use the unit for all other games, that dosnt support toggle switches, and you dont need any third part software to control that function for you. Hope this helped, i will post pictures as soon as i have something new :) -
Yea.. the Angle is for the A-10 :) But they can most definately be used in the UH-1, if you want a specefic length, i can make them fit for you :)

A little fast update. As im working on the consoles, i thought i might show you my DZUS rail Replicas. They are made for 4mm Screws, and fits most DZUS replicas outthere, including my own. They are 3D printed in pieces of around 243mm, and can be screwed in from the side. They have different holes for more mounting possibilities. And here you can see the center rail piece partly assembled, for the right console, with the angle on one side. This is made to be screwed ontop of a 6mm MDF/Plywood/plastic plate which is in the middle of the Console build. The space between the holes are made to DZUS standart, which means that both replica and original panels can be mounted.

Thank you for the nice words :) and Fenmonster, im happy that you like your parts :) Just to update you all, i know there hasnt been much news lately, but i have alot going on at the moment, so that kinda slow things down a little. But dont worry, its not at a stand still, i can soon show you a finished ADI Bezel, HSI Bezel and a CUB 2 Design. Im also working on the last details on the Right Side Console, when that is done, im going to build it, to correct any problems that might occour. When that is all sorted out, the plans will be released. And then the Left Console, Center Console, and the rest of the cockpit follows :) The plans for the MIP have been ready for some time, but there is still some small details that needs to be tested before it released, for those of you who are interested in seeing how my MIP looks when it has been cut by hand, you can see it in MacFevre's thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=155845 And i know many of you are waiting on news on the UFC, and here i can say that we are close.... but there are still small things that needs to be sorted out... fx. the backlight... backlighting is not as easy as i sounds, specially not when you dont have much room to work with :) But were getting there. Again, if you guys have any questions, dont hesitate to write.

you could make the bottom piece hollow, and make space in the top for the LED to be pushed up.... if its going to be half transparent plastics... you can get it to diffuse, and the effect depends on how thick you make the infill :) Of course if there is more than one LED, and they need to sit like the Gear handle in the A-10C, then its best to cut it in half :)
-
How about splitting it in a Upper and a Lower Piece? With a hole in the upper parts for fastening the lower part, that way you dont have a visible seam :)
-
If your going to 3D print that, i would make it in 2 pieces, that way you dont have any cleanup after the printis done :)
-
Take a look at NewsGoth BT But the G isnt right, but you can just use another one for that.
-
Take a look here: [ame]http://lynx.dk/blueprints/A-10C%20MFCD%20Dimensions.pdf[/ame] That MFCD should be the same size as the original A-10C's

Lynx Cockpit Utility Brick "Button box"
LynxDK replied to LynxDK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I really dont hope people are seeing this as an argument. :) I see this as a question asked, and i feel i have answered the best i could. And i would like to say once again, that if anyone believe that they can offer something like this for 16.50$, i think they should. And to answer your question. The only thing 3D printed is the outer frame sides. The top panels etc. are 6mm Acrylic, painted black and engraved on a CNC router. Those panels are sitting ontop of 4mm Acrylic that are also painted black and engraved for the backlight to glow through. You can't 3D print text and get the same "Fine Line" effect as a CNC router, or Laser does. so in this box, you get a 3D Printed frame, with Acylic Bottom, Painted and engraved Acrylic backplate 4mm and on top 2x Painted and Engraved Acylic 6mm panels. I Paint Acrylic since i dont like the Layered panels, and because the original Military panels are made this way. Also there is no leaking Backlight from the sides, as its all painted after its cut. I have made a design for the CUB 2 version with rotary switches, which will be seen as axis in windows. I will show the design as soon as i get a set made :) -

I think the way to do the russian look, is for me to make a thin overlay painted in russian colors. With holes cut for the text to be seen on the back panels underneath. That way the backlight still works too. About the russian Switches, i dont think i will offer a solution with lit switches at first, but that dosnt mean that you cant install them yourself. The 450DKK im charging pr. Panel Pack, is for the Standart Premade Engravings. If people want to get Custom engravings, it going to be around 100 DKK more, for the time it takes me to make the new file for cutting. However, since i dont yet know what panel solutions people want, i will make Custom Engravings for the same 450DKK here in the beginning. For exactly how long will be announced when the product starts production. But this is so that we get an idea of, what people want as engravings for their CUB. Right now im waiting for the Backlight parts, and the Push Buttons. They are both in the mail, but im not sure that the buttons are the right choise, they have to look right, but as soon as i get them, i will update the pictures :) -

That could be done yes :) i just need to find the right color blue paint, and do some tests, alltho the color in reality looks more Green than blu to me.... nothing like the blue in DCS... maybe its just me :) If you have an idea to a Panel engraving, your most welcome to send it, the switch layout is in the PDF file posted ealier.
