    DCS 2.7

I'm afraid that won't be the case, because that is planned for Q3-Q4 2021 right now whichcould also change. I think, with the announcement of the F/A-18C updates, it probably makes the groundwork, or will come right with it, the ATFLIR support, the proper FLIR rendering, and that's a big deal as big as new clouds almost, give or take technically at least, and will come with a big update to all the terrains or at least some terrains initially. All this new big underlying tech is also what probably fueled the convenience to drop Win7 support, but all the graphics API and multithreading stuff coming later, probably as well.
  2. The new sections for "Su-25T (Free With DCS World)" and for the P-51D with the note of being free with DCS world makes sense, I like that.
  3. Ah, I didn't find the thread, I wasn't searching for the "TPOD" moniker. Thanks
  4. Freeing of RAM is what I noticed is an issue, I ran an encyclopedia load test again and saw what are indications of same data being re-read from disk (and pagefile) back into RAM. When you traverse through the Encyclopedia, you load up all the assets/materials/textures of that unit, all of the units it's around 25GB Commit I think ... When getting close to 32GB Commit an 8GB pagefile has around 10-20% usage, then when you end up close to hitting RAM limit it's around 35% pagefile usage, but in order to get that high I had to view and browse through same units I had already been earlier, they loaded in VRAM/RAM and they shouldn't be reloading anything from disk, all it should do is a VRAM-RAM swap when getting back to the oldest data, RAM copies keep building up, and pagefile's being read more and more, which keeps rising RAM and pagefile usage. I'll do a proper thread on this once I analyze that again and figure more things out if my theory holds true. The high RAM usage of DCS never made sense to me, especially the buildup of it, this may have been a bug all the time, garbage collection is a huge and important deal. The game may think it dumped the older assets, but it may be only the reference that was removed from a list, while the stale memory wasn't actually released and freed. VRAM being kept full is actually on purpose and a good thing, so there's as much texture data there where it has to be to prevent VRAM-RAM swapping or waiting for things to get into VRAM, unfortunately VRAM out there still being too low for optimal DCS's needs, but it's thankfully getting better with Radeon RX6000 series indeed. Great memory management can go a long way ofcourse and optimization in this regard is always good, ofcourse not minimizing usage too strictly, because that creates other side effects which may not be desirable. As far as FPS and sutterning goes, the pure usage part, the RAM-to-VRAM transfer may not be the biggest issue, I think it's the CPU usage of the Disk I/O threads clashing and competing for resources with the main thread and/or my latest hunch is that their own (Disk I/O threads) are responsible for some activities that the main engine execution needs and thus can't proceed if they don't do a particular job at the required time.
  5. Yeah it can certainly be done and I think is also explained in the official DCS FAQ and Maintenance, where a different method is also mentioned where the DCS updater uses an auxiliary source, but I never tried that one out in practice myself, I'll give you the other method. Otherwise you would would: First clean up and uninstall to start from scratch and avoid issues on the main PC. Install DCS World setup on both PCs, but on the main PC, do not start it once installed, do not run the updater or the game at all. I'll only install the 20 Megs and that's enough. You let it fully update on the laptop, and if you have more maps which are the biggest you'd have to authenticate on the laptop, since the new system is tied to the account there shouldn't be any issue with back and forth logins, just don't try logging in with both machines at the same time I guess, probably won't let you anyway. You need enough space on the laptop unless you have an external HDD. You should have at least 100GB free space, except if you have many modules as much as 250GB roughly. Once it's fully downloaded on the laptop, you find and open the DCS main installation directory and copy these folders to a USB drive (you may need to do this several times depending on size of your USB stick, another method is to connect both PCs to LAN and use FTP such as filezilla server/client): I wouldn't worry about other folders they're very small and I would avoid copying any other files because it may be specific to that installation / PC if I'm not mistaken. Paste these folders into the DCS installation directory on the main PC and open command prompt, once finished, navigate to the DCS installation directory bin folder inside command prompt using "cd" command, or go to the bin directory, point the mouse cursor at an empty space in that folder (very annoying and not easy with Win10 explorer with full row select enabled) and press right mouse button while holding down SHIFT, this should give you a context option "open command window here" and click that. Then while in bin directory in the command prompt, type: DCS_updater.exe repair Once the dialog is shown, select the slower more thorough repair to catch any corruption you may had during transfer but also to make sure things are really done right. It will download anything else that's missing, which in this case would be a minor amount, sparing you +90% of the downloading.
  6. Might have some improvements here, but the Vulkan & Multi-threading improvements that would help FPS overall I think are planned for Q3 2021 so not 2.7 I would assume.
  7. I actually liked the meaning of the changes overall, but yeah, there seems to be some issue the way this was applied, and is viewed from the parent DCS 2.5 forum. Viewing the DCS 2.5 forum, you get the preview of each of the 2 sections. There is inconsistency with both. The preview of the Bugs & Problems section is a a big continious list of uninterruptable subforums, whereas if you view the Bugs & Problems section on it's own specifically, it has it's what I think is the intended structuring, separated quite a bit, which makes sense. I think it should display that same structure when viewed from the DCS 2.5 forum otherwise it's kinda less useful, most people won't click on the Bugs & Problems subsection link. If not possible, then perhaps it's better to keep Bug & Problems as a link only, without any preview of what's inside. (It was a Forum before) And then the Customer Support section, which looks like it was moved to DCS 2.5 and does actually not contain anything else other than the 2 forums it already had on the main page, that is if you view it specifically (directly on the link), but when it is viewed from the DCS 2.5 it includes DCS Wishlist, Sim Research and Steam Support. Which gives me a clue that something didn't go right with the forum system fully there. If DCS 2.5 is to be made read-only forum in the future with it's subforums as well, as well as support and technical stuff specific to that version, then it kinda doesn't make sense to pair Forum & Site Issues and Payment & Activation with which is more broad and quite not related. What I really like the most is the sorting idea of the Bugs & Problems section, as well as the labeling of the subforums. However not sure if it was really intended to fit Sim Research into Customer Support section?
  8. On the other hand I'm preparing another report in this area, but since I'm close I'll update this thread as well because I indeed didn't word things bestly here, first I didn't really want to include a rough MSI Afterburner guide into this post, and secondly I went on a tangent about the not too important side effect of "unresponsive program" in DCS loading screens, that has since resolved it self, by either DCS it self or a combination of moving on to a more later OS version. I'll take perhaps another shot at re-evaluating the core issue in this thread, whether things have improved, whether the claims still hold true and ofcourse to fix my own mistakes if there's any and make the OP more clearer. LOADING SCREEN SIDE-EFFECT UPDATE FEB 2021: New fresh Windows 10 Professional 2004 / 20H1 (PC2 Specs in signature below) + DCS 2.5.6.60966 -> I do not get the Windows warning dialog for "unresponsive program" during loading times anymore, it is now working correctly. The mouse cursor stays normal, no busy-loading cursor animation, the window stays normal fullscreen and loading continunes as normal without windowing issues. Great!
  9. Mission does still succeed once you fly around, fire ECM, come back and land, but there is nothing that happens there, you keep flying around senaki, no radars, no enemies, no sight of Tu-142, no commands, no allies esorting you back, no SAM launches, it's all silent, I guess the trigger may be broken.
  10. It may not be just the shadows in your case, but the grass (ground clutter), which has a big impact on draw calls and rendering. Try disabling grass and test again. Also the LOD transitions aren't exactly eye pleasing, it's been like that for quite some time so I kinda got used to it, hopefully 2.7 has some improvements in this area.
  11. @BIGNEWYAnother pack of hours later I think I've got this beast under control, this new thread should work now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  12. START OF POST #4 - CONTINUING Specific Issue - New DLC Aircraft section: In this case I put the long list of ED modules into DLC Aircraft, while that will considerable shorten the length of the home page, it may actually affect the feeling on the home page for people who are used to go there very frequently so it's something that needs to be thought about, but DCS is expanding and more thigns are going to be added, so I guess it's not too early to consider this. Also, I had in mind splitting Helos, but decided against that, sometimes too much splitting ends up being more confusing. Specific Issue - New DLC Others section: Some things don't fit in DLC Aircraft anymore, I had to make another section for those, there's probably room for improvement here, any better terms are welcome. Specific Issue - New DCS World Mission Area master section: Looking for suitable naming, thanks to the DCS World Tutorial & Training Range for inspiration, but then I realized it coincides with military terminology as well. Alternative name is DCS World Mission Zone This section's content wasn't my focus yet, but I feel it has more potential. More experienced mission builders might be able to give better feedback here if they wish any further and deeper changes. Specific Issue - New DCS World Modding Hangar master section: Another interesting naming also inspired by the DCS World Tutorial & Training Range. Alternative name could be DCS World Modding Station ... however "station" could perhaps tend to conflict with weapon stations and pylons, right? This section's content wasn't my focus yet, but I feel it has more potential. More seasoned modders might have better ideas if they wish any further and deeper changes in this section. (even tho I was historically big into game modding, I've yet to dig into DCS modding, oh well) Specific Issue - DCS WW 2 Section Particularities, Era/Timeline discussion: There are two forums in the WW2 section that aren't official module specific, they're of a general discussion type. It probably makes sense for WW2 stuff to also be consistent with the logical splitting method, because WW2 content is and most likely will keep expanding greately, it will not be optimal anymore to keep putting all the forums in one place there. In general, era/timeline sorted discussion forums do have a valid purpose in it self indeed, in the current proposal I've added these sections as part of the DCS World Core, not giving it it's own master section because currently there are not many forums of this type and having too much splits also isn't optimal for other reasons. It could as well be spinned off depending on the evolution of this proposal and the feedback, the "missing" era/timelines for cold-war and modern would need to be created preferrably, as mentioned, only 2 sections(forums) exist in the category right now, Western Europe 1944-1945 and Pacific Theatre. END OF POST #4
  13. START OF POST #3 - CONTINUING Specific Issue - Double Guides & Tutorials Issue AND Maintenance / Help / Troubleshooting / General Issue Proliferation: I noticed there seems to be double Guides & Tutorials sections, one in DCS World Tutorial and Training Range and the one in DCS World Topics under English. I will also be referring to them as the first and second one. 1. Guides & Tutorials https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/42-guides-amp-tutorials/ 2. Guides & Tutorials https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/64-guides-tutorials/ A list of usual places for such maintenance / technical / troubleshooting discussions, possibility of, and/or where they happen to be tolerated: The DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests section in the 1st Guides & Tutorials forum (in DCS World Tutorial & Training Range) The General Tutorials section in the 1st Guides & Tutorials forum (in DCS World Tutorial & Training Range) The Mission Editor Tutorials section in the 1st Guides & Tutorials forum (in DCS World Tutorial & Training Range) The Bugs & Problems root section in the DCS World 2.5 forum. The General Questions section in the DCS World 2.5 forum. The Game Performance section in the DCS World 2.5 forum. The Intallation Problems section in the DCS World 2.5 forum. The Game Crash section in the DCS World 2.5 forum. The Steam Support section in the DCS World 2.5 forum. The 2nd Guides & Tutorials in the DCS World Topics under English I was browsing and actively analyzing these locations while I was making this list, I can see many threads that don't fit in there, module specific questions, other things, however, there is ofcourse with every forum and section some leeway, where something doesn't fit in any other place or the author doesn't know where it fits in best and hopefully tries best. In this case I see some totally offtopic things in some of these places. The biggest thing that stands out is the DCS World Tutorial & Training Range's Guides & Tutorials (1st) where there's threads that could fit in the other existing locations, if the Training Range is suppose to be in my opinion about gameplay that is. I didn't want to shake things up too much because I lack the ultimate solution my self, I only thought it be a good idea if we re-consider what the Training Range should be, should it be a place for all tutorials, including technical, gameplay, missions, and multiplayer, apps, etc. Or not? Secondly, no pun intended, the second Guides & Tutorials in English is also mixed with gameplay and technical stuff, that's actualy not a problem in it self, if it's a tutorial it fits the criteria, but if the Training Range provided a great number of new forums for gameplay oriented stuff, then it's fair for the technical stuff to also get it's own (albeit smaller) place/recognition as well IMO. Out of all the proposals in this mega post, this I happen to be vouching on more personal level, because I'm someone who has historically posted and discussed around these maintenance/technical areas quite a lot. I guess one could call it I'm a bit biased here, but I try to propose this with some objective reasons backing it as well. I was honestly looking for a place to post a rather more general and technical guide (relevant to DCS but not gameplay) to avoid posting it in Game Performance or similar for example. I think I may have found one factor that makes some new users gravitate to that place. First the forum is positioned higher on the home page, however I think that actually makes sense for other reasons I wouldn't want to change it because of this alone. I think the "help" word may be working like a strong magnet. Then, DCS World Tutorials description mentions how it's following subsections are for "general issues with DCS". I think that "general issues" is or it could be another of the factors, in the mind of many as another term for technical help and maintenance type of discussion. I my initial idea is reflected in the proposed forum structure list, which is trying to enforce/provide a more gameplay-oriented discussion on the Training Range and a rename of the 2nd Guides & Tutorials (in English) to empower these types of technical and general DCS maintenance guide and utility support threads that have been historically there, some of them pinned even. This should help draw in those types of posts and visitors and keeps it away from proliferating elsewhere. END OF POST #3 - CONTINUES ON NEXT POST

Items for levels 3 and 4 are either totally not present, semi, or fully listed depending on the situation, in all unlisted cases levels 3 and 4 remain the same as they are in the existing forum structure. If there's any changes, it will be listed. Technical note: Technically forum staff could just recreate this by creating everything new and then filling/resorting/moving things that way, but I took the method of renaming things where possible, the underlying method doesn't matter in practice and whatever method makes most sense there should be used, just to explain that this is a final practical view, so if the forum software works prefers creating new rather than renaming existing things then so be it. END OF POST #2 - CONTINUES ON NEXT POST
  15. Hello What started out as a hunch about double guides & tutorials forums, grew into a much bigger idea around the low level restructuring. However even with just restructuring, leaving the layout and cosmetics completely alone, it may change the dynamic quite a bit, and it may take some time getting used to. The idea was to improve the home page experience and the rest, to split things up into more logically separated parts and to have these parts toggable so they can be truncated by the user, it also makes the home page shorter which is also a bonus, infact it would make it possible to make it even shorter, much more than it's possible right now. These are infact quite major changes that have a bit of work behind them, sorting topics for example, so this is obviously a proposition that may change and evolve over time as feedback comes in, so that it is well planned and organized before anything starts happening, if at all. The most optimal time period for this change to be finalized, I already figured could coincide when DCS 2.7 is released, as OB or as Release, it makes sense to minimize the frequency of changes and have it all in one package, tho this method in general doesn't always work but I think it could help in this case. Forum Structure Legend: Level 0 = Dark Violet = Master Sections - Collapsible / Toggable - Expanded by default Level 1 = Strong Red = Main Sections - Uncollapsible / Untoggable - Takes 1 short vertical slot and works as a separator on home page Level 2 = Orange = Main Forum Sections - Visible On Home Page - Takes 1 vertical slot Level 3 = Strong Blue = Sub Forum Sections - Visible On Home Page - Usually takes horizontal space only depending on amount Level 4 = Dark Emerald = Double-Sub Forum Sections - Not Visible On Home Page Note 1: Users cannot post into Level 0 or level 1, they're not considered forums, more like directories/separators. Note 2: The "lower" and "higher" may sound confusing, it is correct however. With this method we start with lowest number for the top most section of the forum structure, it does not mean that it is lower down the inverted tree, or deeper, it's the other way around, lowest number = top most, it helps if you invert it in your head. I just happened to pick this method. Rough overview of the current forum structure: News -- Official Updates -- Community News DCS World Tutorial & Training Range -- New User Briefing Room -- Guides & Tutorials --- DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests --- DCS World Tutorials ---- General Tutorials ---- Mission Editor Tutorials ---- Campaign Builder Tutorials ---- Multiplayer Tutorials --- Module Specific Tutorials --- 3rd Party Specific Tutorials English - Digital Combat Simulator -- DCS World 2.5 - DCS World War II - DCS World Topics -- Guides & Tutorials - Licensed Third Party Projects - Customer Support - Legacy Versions - Reality -- Chit Chat International support Russkij Unfortunately I haven't found the SiteMap for this new forum, I think the old one had it, a full list of the forum structure similar to this. I didn't spent all the time trying to recreate the existing forum structure, but there was no need to, this is enough because we only need a quick comparison which we can check ourselfs manually on the forum easily, and I've focused only on the lower levels that matter for the home page so it works out. END OF POST #1 - CONTINUES ON NEXT POST
  16. Allright. I guess I'm too late now to change thing after the fact, I'll make a new thread for the rest of the things I had on my mind. A larger idea came out of this that exposes more options how to deal with this, give me another day or so before deciding anything, I might be able to finish it today if I'm lucky. Thanks. EDIT: OP Update - I decided in the last minute, weighting pros and cons, to update this topic with the mega post, to perhaps not trash the forum with duplicates. It's probably not that big of a deal for the few posts in this thread to be sort of invalidated, really sorry for the inconvenience, either option isn't perfect. EDIT2: Update: Looks like I broke the forum's paging system, it won't respect pages anymore, if they were pages, the HTML code for them is "hr" and that sounds like a "horizontal rule" but in this case it's used to make pages I guess, anyway the pages aren't properly separated, I've tried all sorts of things of deleting, cleaning formatitng, pasting into HTML editor and looking at the source code, there's some other thing going in the forum's logic that is interfeering I think. Perhaps this needs to be looked at by admins, Thanks. EDIT3: I decided to make this thread obsolete, I used another method to post in a new thread instead (tho the page feature might still be buggy overall and perhaps needs a look at anyway, for long posts)
  17. Well if I give you the pro advice, the most fundamental thing is to not "upgrade", but to buy a new disk (SSD/HDD) and install a fresh copy of Win10 on there, keep your Win7 or whatever and everything intact, so you can use the system while you deal with configuring the new OS, you might have to redo things, this requires more experience and will probably set you on a path that may take some time, but it may be worth it depending on your priorities and how much the current system matters to you. Upgrading from Win7 to Win10 has it's risks, you might get problems that you wouldn't on a clean install, but I can't comment further because I've never dealt with it and I don't know how good and reliable this feature is. This is regarded as a gimmick if you ask a pro, it's a huge convenience feature, with a lot of automation and assumption and "doing things for you", and as a general rule huge conveniences usually do things that are not what a proper system administrator would want to do if the goal was to do it right with all the best and surest practices. But it may just work, tho, that "work" may be slightly illusory because none of the pro users use this feature unless they purposelly want to test it, and most people who would tell you that it works are the average users who don't have the experience to detect and notice a lot of clues and issues except some key few obvious ones. You can also create a custom Win10 ISO with NTLite, from the ISO you receive/download as part of purchase of Win10 license. This has to be done before you actually install it. NTLite is paid (for full version) but you can use free solutions such as Sophia Script and other debloater scripts which may be harder to use/follow and would be executed on a live system after you install the OS, do not run any of these scripts on your current Win7, once you run them, the script may not support roll-back, once it's done and it didn't work out right, you would need to start over reinstalling Win10. Either way it's all more involved so you would need to take time to learn/educate about this on the web, the paid option may be easier because it's all done in a nice GUI and has more features/capabilities in some cases. The Win10 I'm running and typing from now was created by NTLite, with my custom profile, by the way. Excerpt of a NTLite XML profile for example: This is a rather advanced example, more things are removed than really necessary, some things don't necessairly run in the background unless you trigger them, some things I simply know I will never need, so you could remove much less and still do a good job debloating things. For example I very rarely use Wi-FI on the main PC so I removed many of extra Wi-Fi components but keeping key things just so it works if I need it in an emergency, there's a bunch of enterprise/workstation components I'll never need, at least on this PC / this installation, then I've removed most of the UWP bloatware including the whole Windows Store it self and associated services that automatically run things in the background and manage things and anything that automatically downloads things from the web, among with other configs and tweaks outside of a custom ISO which I don't want to get into because this is whole thing is a big topic, custom ISO is half of the thing, there's around 3-5 days of work after I've installed to finish all the other settings, program setups, drivers, browser configurations, networking, group policy and registry settings, but man it's worth it, well, you have to be a special person who enjoys this and a week of fiddling with this isn't a problem, so yeah, not everyone would agree necessairly, but it is rewarding, it should be rock stable, only the internal bugs that are present in this version of Win10 it self that nobody can predict can be a problem if they emerge months or years down the line, so yeah it can be very risky, you spend 2 weeks setting things up then you figure out a month later some important program can't work because of some little issue that can't be resolved and you're basically forced to start over, however with NTLite, or any custom ISO method, you get the benefit of saving time not having to configure it or create a new ISO from scratch, you just reinstall with the pre-defined settings and removed components, so I guess you do save quite a bit of time, plus, once one has experience with this over many iterations, it goes a lot faster than the first time, that's why it's easy to me because I've got the whole process documented and I practically have it all in my head I just know it like second nature what I need to do step by step, I have all the notes to remind myself and that's it, so it can sound a lot easier than it is, but yeah it may be really hard for someone new, however if anyone serious needs extra help you can send PM (but I only have limited time, this is more than off-the-cuff help, this is exhaustive work) I'm still rather testing things with this install too and I need to be careful that I don't blame the games/programs if some bugs arise from this, so far all games work flawlessly. Windows experience, shortcuts and settings stuff in this case obviously have some annomalies and broken-ness to it, but this is to be expected, like the Internet Settings in the Network Icon on the taskbar doesn't work so I have access it from elsewhere, among other similar things, in case it's no problem at all, most importantly it doesn't affect the core and any other program. On a previous Win10 install, years ago, I've experimented manually in the Registry and deleted some keys I hoped were to cleanup some stuff, unfortunately, a bunch of things broke, like the "Open As" dialog when you try to open a file extension that has no associated program to it, and the USB Devices icon in the Taskbar would not work, so I couldn't "safely remove" any of my attached USBs that way, I had to go into Start -> Settings -> Devices and then remove things from there, still not a big deal.
  18. I mean my update to the original post/thread.
  19. Oh, I just learned about the collapsability of the main sections, which seems to be remembered on a reload (only thing I tested as of now) so it's saved in a cookie. This thread's going to get a major update soon tho, I do not want to propose things that change this kind of layout that everyone seem to be settled with fine now ofcourse.
  20. I expect quite the opposite, given the large gaming culture out there, I see MAC potentially more popular, much more so, but I have been expressing concern this may overshadow DCS and the whole full-fidelity community because of the buzz around MAC, the amount of MAC support/issues/content/fixes/maintenance to take care off may result in resources having to be taken off DCS as well, perhaps. But I have many other suggestions and ideas, possibilities, just need to find the time to write them down. That's actually a good thing, means things are still being negotiated and it's not prematurely set in stone. That's the time for the community to discuss about ideas and suggestions.
  21. 1 - Right, but then double presses keep switching between it and Snowplow mode, I guess they could have treated it as an "double press again to exit VVSLV mode" logically, but it's same as "press twice to enter Snowplow mode". 3 - Which is weird, because it does not seem to do anything in MAV because it has no CCD feed, and not having any ability to switch FOV on the TGP makes it quite a practical bummer, I'd consider it as a manufacturer design flaw if you ask me.
  22. Hi 1. Startup. FLIR set to on, Litening TGP Enters blank operating mode when warmed up, pressing undesignate once does not enter snowplow mode, must press double to first enter VVSLV and then double again to switch to snowplow mode, some tutorials say it needs one press to enter snowplow mode, but nothing is mentioned in the early access manual. When designated in G.Stab mode pressing once does indeed undesignate and put into Snowplow mode. 2. While undesignated, After cycling through Litening TGP modes, ATRK, PTRK, and back to G. Stab. the litening TGP stays stuck and won't be able to slew, in order to get it unstuck one must put it in snowplow or VVSLV mode which ruins the target search and have to start from scratch. Whereas in snowplow mode you can freely slew without designation. (BTW so in RL G.Stab. and S. Plow modes don't have their label indicators either or just missing in DCS?) 3. FOV Switch not working when TGP is SOI while MAV or MAVF is selected, instead it changes MAVF FOV on the other MFD that is NOT SOI ??? And with laser MAV i don't know what it does yet, nothing visible. 4. Sometimes, cannot slew Litening TGP when designated and in GSTAB mode, when having an activated MAV and even when deactivating it the slew still won't work, instead some lines start appearing but no movement. To make TGP slewable again one needs to cycle modes back to GSTAB to enable slew again, so thankfully no need to undesignate in this case. Sometimes slew works while MAV is activated/selected (caged) but the slew behavior is wonky/stuttery. 5. According to the RedKite 2020 TGP tutorial, if you are in ATRK or PTRK and the TGP becomes obscured it will revert to GSTAB mode, it only mentions it but it does not show that on video, this is apparently no longer valid in 2.5.6.60720, the TGP mode stays in ATRK or PTRK and you are able to switch between them but not into GSTAB mode, FLIR label flashes on the HUD and a MEM label is displayed in the center bottom of the TGP display on the MFD. I have tested this while not and actually tracking a moving target, same thing, except when the target is moving it loses it, but keeps potining to the static location while still in PTRK mode. ----------------------- -----------------------
  23. My way of looking at it may not always work, ofcourse, there's probably usecases where it may not apply, this rant was more from my viewpoint based from my own needs, I really don't need to avoid some things because I don't look for it in the first place. I looked on someone's computer some time ago to fix a weird windows rare bug that I got like 10 years ago once, and ofcourse there's a ton of garbage and weird stuff on the computer that I just never ever have, so I simply don't get into such a situation, I remember back when I was starting out yes it was similar, but these days I kinda go "what the heck are they doing how do they get things so broken, I use the PC so much, in a much deeper way in some cases, and never come across problems like, so you have to factor the user of the computer a whole lot, I've done PC repair and I've had a taste of all of this, ofcourse things may have changed these days with security, perhaps it has shifted more to other fields like you mentioned, but I still think my rant at least provided some balance to the overal thing. Plus I block such things at the router level with DNSMasq, so even if the browser tried to land on a scam page it would probably block the connection. There is no full proof ofcourse with anything.
