  1. Agreed. Dynamic campaigns to me more so much more than things that are already scripted out so matter what you do the outcome has no bearing on changing anything in the future of the campaign. Sorta like Groundhog Day over and over and over...
  2. Thanks again! Very good points. Agreed, from what I can tell the A-10C seems to be the really has it's act together in terms of being tried and true in all respects. Thee beta releases seem to be far ahead even though still in beta compared to others in other sims that weren't even half finished resulting in more fun factor than stress factor The devs seem to follow up pretty closely on reported issues in a timely manner Able to report issues owning a beta release and helping solve possible issues for devs sooner than waiting for final release All valid points. So would you say from beta to final what has been your experience here amongst the developers in terms of time frames? Several months?
  3. True. That was my meaning anyways...I just mistated myself.
  4. Thanks for the input! Definitely food for thought! Seems like then even with a module termed "beta" compared to others in sims they seem already one step ahead in ways.
  5. Please feel free to move this post if it's in the wrong place. Quick question...since flying way back in the days when my first flight simulator was Fly! for Mac and the numerous attempts at reviving MSFS through the eons, whenever I saw a model posted as available but still in beta I never bit. My reasoning was I'd spend more time hair pulling than enjoying the aircraft itself. Quite a few modules listed here are for sale and in beta. Now I know the more people who fly an aircraft in beta gives the devs the upper hand for squashing bugs, etc. so things (supposedly) would move quicker to the final release. How well are all the devs and their certified charges at going from beta to final release? Should I still steer clear of beta releases for the above reasons and just wait for the final product? I'm leaning that way. Typically, what is the average time an aircraft spends in beta on DCS? Just wondering as I have never purchased a beta before and was wondering what I was in for.
  6. Ahhhh.okay...it's me! Thanks! Now I really do feel like an idiot. Actually, I'm not ashamed as I have felt like this numerous times over the course of 53 years. Thanks for the fast reply! Keeps me from wondering if something went wrong sim wise.
  7. It used to. When all I had was the SU-25 and the TF-51D the two tabs would show for each aircraft for training missions. Now I added another aircraft (Fw-190 Dora) and now the FW-190 and the SU-25 still shows but the TF-51D tab mysteriously has disappeared. So if you bought all of the modules only two,are available for training at any one time? How do you get to the others? In this case, the training Mustang? I'm confused. Seems like it limits you to only two modules at any one time for training...which doesn't make sense. You'd think they would just add tabs for training at the top of the Training Task box as you purchased the modules (aircraft). Something's screwy here. Maybe it's me. I wouldn't doubt it. Anybody else ever have this happen? Thanks in advance! Jeff
  8. MSFS also had several historical aircraft available for purchase but I could never see the point when it couldn't do really anything a Cessna 172 could do. Unless you just flew it around and pretended you were visiting airshows with it. Seemed like a lot of effort went into the models but because of the type of sim they were thrown into they were just out of their element and not brought up to their full capabilities because of it.
  9. And each successful mission leads to an automatic new bomber mission marking on the nose. Yeah, that would be sweet and I don't think to hard to implement...I hope. That way when there are dozens up there tooling into formation we all KNOW who the top dog is!
  10. Funny, I don't see much at all on the... ...P-38 Lightning!
  11. Shwing!!!!'
  12. I'll be running 16GB of Corsair Dominator series as soon as my new MOBO comes in Tuesday to replace what we found out was a defect Rampage V board. Would NOT recognize any memory off to the left of the pot (CPU) which includes the BIOS. With the new EDGE around the corner I figure it will just push things a little bit more hardware wise too, so be ready. Was going to keep the memory cooling fans but now am going to leave them off. With the huge built in heat sinks they have plus this case has tons of room for adequate air movement I'll be fine. Added benefit is that my liquid cooling lines from my H110 get really close to the mounted memory fans on top anyways, leaving them off cures this. Indefinately would not have less than 16GB on the MOBO though - just my preference.
  13. HATE that Starforce. Was in the UBIsoft Silent Hunter series at one time and gave nothing but complete headaches for ligit installs. Surprised it's still around, though I understand copyright paranoia still runs rampant over there, but there's got to be a better system. Nothing worse than paying for something then find out due to "copyright" protection you can't even use what you ligitamently purchased anyways.
  14. Wow...I'm overwhelmed to say the least. Seriously. You know, after this posting I felt it rather inappropriate I mentioned my current position with the cancer and besides began feeling like a "cheap ass" at the same time. But it was already posted so that was that. I think my goal was more to just say I've had really but one priority on my mind since this past July when this all started that I have been definitely way "outside the loop" on what my normal life would have been and flight sims were (and just getting back into it) still are a huge interest to me. The closest I'll ever get to the real thing. For anyone interested, I'm thankfully on the new chemo drug just recently approved along with my capsules of Revlimid which were also just recently approved. I'm using my new rig I just built figuring I'm going to beat this thing and along with some other sims am trying to keep some sort of training for my hands/eye/neurological aspects of my hands in particular since one slight side effect from all these drugs is having your hands shaking....some days worse than others. So doing the best I can with what little steadiness I have left right now. They say it's only temporary and once chemo (praying) is done, the effects will wear off over the course of several months. 53 years old and one day lifted an umbrella in the backyard when a microburst hit. Figured I strained my back, no biggie. Hurt like hell. At that point after several weeks of non-stop pain I admitted myself to be checked. Took an x-Ray and saw what looked like arthritis. Later got a phone call the next morning "you have cancer lesions on your L-2 spine". Later that night the wife rushed me into the ER...I was then told I had acute kidney failure of both kidneys. The constancy severe back pain and the kidney failure are both direct results of the cancer itself. The flood of oversized protiens shut down my kidneys. Miraculously, within 48 hours of being admitted without dialysis - they began functioning on their own. They still don't understand that part! My kidneys on their own have one regained full normal operation and my protien levels achieved the same results after 5 days of massive transfusions in the hospital. The cancer I have is isolated bone marrow cancer, otherwise known as Mutiple Myeloma. So, back to the post. Sorry to ramble, but it just shows how after never being even admitted to a hospital for 41 years and as my record states " shows an unremarkable medical past" how fragile life really is. It can hit anybody, any age, any time. I guess all I want to say is a very big "thank you" for the support on my post, particularly Chief1942 for his honesty and support and my condolences to you sir. I really was kind of expecting the opposite thinking people would look at me and the cancer as a crutch to be a cheap old buzzard in gaining something for nothing. But no, lesson here (if any I guess) is enjoy your simming, your time with friends and family, the simple pleasure in life because as Chief and others know life can truly turn on a dime at any moment and that's SO easy to loose track of. I appreciate the offer for modules, I truly do, but I'll make do with a CC I have standing by just in case then transfer that over to a one year no interest rate. Tee-hee. My oncologist still says I'm responding very well to treatment, as tough a road as it is, just take it day by day and am noticing vast improvement the last 60 days. Perhaps someday I'll be able to get my hands from shaking too much and really enjoy things like this as I used to but if not, eh, I'll still enjoy it the best I can! Keep on flying, thanks for the positive input and thank you for the offer Chief. Not many people nowadays would reach out like that - particularly to a complete stranger. Looks more like we are all one family here though. I'm in it to win it and see you maybe multiplayer someday even! Most Sincerely and SORRY FOR THE RAMBLING, Jeff aka mrmertz
  15. While in the take off training mode and having a trusty pair of CH Porducts rudder peddles at my feet as soon as my taxi speed increased I throttled back and instinctively went for the toe brakes. Haha...not on this thing. Then went and hit the keyboard letter "W" one time quick. Nope. Then went in from the training screen and cleared the "W" key and mapped it to a joystick button. Nope. Does the SU25 just seem to take forever to anyone else just to come to a gravity roll stop? I don't notice any difference in braking whatsoever whether it's the designated W key or anything else. Usually in other aircraft there is a noticeable pitch forward and downward on strut compression when applying braking, or am I looking at this all wrong? Is this more like a parking brake applied to the main gear? If so, I still don't notice any slowing. Looking for on/off speed control for taxing and coming to complete stops at holds on taxiways but this thing just seems to roll forever no matter what! Almost flipped on side once due to inability to scrub off excessive speed while doing the old "turn right here to line up for the runway" bit. Does any other input or key work or is this just the way this thing works in real life? Perhaps taxi speed should be kept below a certain number in order for them to work and engage in the first place or they won't engage? I don't see how one could blow a front tire...mine spins free until I either bounce into something or it just comes to a gravity resistance roll stop. Sorry to make a mountain out of a molehill here! I just can't seem to scrub off speed and stop this thing while on the ground!
  16. Let there be a December seasonal blowout sale coming up! Fighting cancer and in and out of hospital so missed the November one. Would have bought every single module then. Looks like they try to run about a special out of the E-shop every month or so anyways so fingers crossed. Doubt it will be another 70% one though. Just chit-chat.
  17. Lol...sorry about typo in Title! Thought I would post this here hoping a dev or two may actually look to see what consumers are requesting with great wads of cash in their pockets are proposing. But my question is what exactly determines which aircraft are feasible to make it from wishlist to a full fledged PFM module while others got shot down in their tracks as "not doable"? For instance, yes I and others would have like to seen an F-4 Phantom variant to go along with the Huey and a new Vietnam map to boot wouldn't have hurt either for the realism and immersion factor but in another posting was told no, you won't see the F-4 in a DCS module for purchase. It is modeled however in AI form, so we know it can be modeled (and yes I know there is a huge difference between just modeling an AI aircraft versus fully flyable and PFM modeled aircraft, but what exactly keeps certain aircraft "out of the race" into becoming a module in the first place? Money? Aircraft complexity? Two or more crew members? The F-4 already has been modeled as an AI aircraft, so we know that can be done. There are plenty of two or more crew membered aircraft in modules and PFM flying around already both in prop and jet, so that's out. Is the aircraft just so complex that it doesn't justify the expense? Just stumped as how some are classified as "you'll never see it released as a DCS module" while others whom seem to be no more different in terms of complexity make it into the line up. Does it have to do with some sort of licensing agreement? Just wondering. Besides the F-4 never being able to make it into the lineup, which others have been shot down as not feasible as to making it from dream to reality? Maybe a link here? I'm new and just getting into DCS and must say blows everything else away. So would that mean an f-105 Thud would be out of the picture too because of ???? So, what's the bottom line? Marketing versus costs of development? Confused. Thanks! Jeff (again)
  18. Poor B-24...nobody seems to want to see one, my favorite. If they could do the b-17 who constantly takes all the glory a perhaps B-24D or other variant would be feasible too.
  19. With the Huey and AI aircraft such as the f-4 they would definitely seem to be more at home not to mention realistic in the jungles and palms of Vietnam rather than operating sorties out of current theaters of operations like Georgia. I'd definitely pounce on the Vietnam era not to mention all the related aircraft that could be released along with it such as the F-105 Thud, F-111, various Migs, etc. Just don't seem right though without the Asian theater to be able to go back in time with them though!
  20. F-4 Phantom, various versions, particularly the "E".
