And it is getting tiresome scouring the forums every other day in hopes for one update, or watching others starting new discussions to try to quell the hype
-
+1 can't tell you how many people I know get tired of dcs, tired of waiting for new material, or won't shell out the money for it

Is it reasonable for the F-14 to be finished in 2016?
Coyote Duster replied to Jaktaz's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Either way it goes, the less hype the better lol -

Their website is down....either something great is happening or something tragic is, either way it goes the less hype the better. -

The Battle Simulator by The Fighter Collection
Coyote Duster replied to Raven68's topic in Chit-Chat
Moderator let me know if I'm out of line, dangerous waters here, but if the us military asks ED to simulate their vehicles, couldn't it be possible if that type of classified info got leaked? Like from hackers or something. -
F-4U on the header of Leatherneck's homepage?
Coyote Duster replied to Jaktaz's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Time for us all (including myself) to slow this hype train down a little -
The mustang was rated at 437 compared to the corsairs 447, at certain altitudes I'm assuming
-
Definitely is, and it carries an astounding array of ordinance, so much that leatherneck will have a busy schedule modeling it all, can take a beating and dish it back, stories of pilots letting the zeros get on their six and letting them shoot them so their wingman can flame them while they were distracted. It's top speed is faster than the p-51s as well. Like i said, when and if a third party developer wants to make a ki-84, ki-100 or j2m, then we should be concerned. If im not mistaken, it could turn with the lighter and smaller ki-61s.

We're getting the f4U-D right? well in that case just think of it as the navy's version of the jug, same motor with just a different design and without a turbo-supercharger. So just high speed dives and climbs (whistling death) and high speed turns, the f4u is a master at energy fighting I mean these things took on the ki-84s and ki-100s planes just as if not, more dangerous than the d9 and k4

Can the AIM-54 take down fighter aircraft
Coyote Duster replied to Coyote Duster's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'm confident now thanks to you guys that the Phoenix will do its job, I don't expect a kill everytime, seeing how I've spammed amraams and had a good Russian pilot dodge all of them. I've never had doubts when it came to the sparrow either, and I'm sure a mid 80s sparrow will do just fine in the fight. -
Can the AIM-54 take down fighter aircraft
Coyote Duster replied to Coyote Duster's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Had no idea, I just know that the missile at the time had some problems, still plenty found their marks, and I never knew that the pilots weren't utalizing it correctly. -

Coyote Duster replied to Coyote Duster's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
You gotta remember that the sparrow was used in nam a lot and you had a 50/50 chance of it even tracking or the motor even igniting at the time, but I'll tell you what if we're ever in a major air conflict again I'll garantee you those hit percentages will skyrocket -
Can the AIM-54 take down fighter aircraft
Coyote Duster replied to Coyote Duster's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'd probably go with 4 phoenix two sidewinders and 2 sparrows, it's gonna be real interesting on the 104th server especially with squadrons or even just a pair of tomcats who know what their doing..... best bet would be for the Russians to do what they always do which would be to disappear and try to avoid roving f-14s with the awg-9 doing deep scans. -
Can the AIM-54 take down fighter aircraft
Coyote Duster replied to Coyote Duster's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
This is the way I see it, if you fire a pair or even all of them in a timed sequence, there's a higher kill probability, unless he completely hits the mountains, all those missiles are diving in from 80,000 feet, it would be hard trying to notch all those and they don't need to be very close to score any hits because of their large warhead. -

Coyote Duster replied to Coyote Duster's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
beat me to the 1 million dollar question, as someone said on here before, this is the tomcat's only claim to bvr fighting, and if the phoenix can be fooled easily then the tomcat crew is gonna have to get their hands dirty. -
I've been scouring the internet for as much info on this as possible, some say that since the missile flies so fast that makes it hard to maneuver and therefore easy to defeat, some say that even at high speeds it still has great maneuvering capabilities and would be very hard to evade. Can anyone shed any light on this?

:ranting:Back from the front, all my hope went down the drain again...a buddy of mine and I got manhandled by one k4, just climbs with no regards for energy, it reminds me of two f4f wildcats trying to take on a zero, that's how helpless we felt.

Thanks fellas, the more the merrier!
