  1. I have tried both and the Index is way better. Tracking on the Rift S was worse than my WMR Samsung O+. The Index had better FOV and better tracking overall. Of course the Reverb I tired was almost monitor quality and blew all other headsets out of the water in DCS, though tracking was good as the Rift S but not as good as the Index.
  2. I have no idea what everyone is talking about with the Gazelle, about it being touchy. It is the easiest of all of them to fly. Huey is the hardest of all of them. If it is touchy, it is because you are probably using a desktop stick with no extension and no curves. You need at least a 30 curve on desktop sticks to be realistic except for planes that use a short stick like the F-16.
  3. Really VR gives you the feeling of sitting in the plane. If you watch any of the real F18 pilots playing DCS they are in VR now. Biggest problem with a lot of headsets is the resolution and screen door effect. Screen Door Effect (SDE) is like looking through a window screen you see all of the pixels. Most headsets it is hard to see the instruments unless you lean in to look at them. Far off views have a lot of jagged edges also, think of playing in 480p. My friend owns almost every headset out and I have tried them all in DCS and there are only two headsets that are clear in the cockpit as of right now. The first is the HP Reverb, second is the Samsung Odyssey Plus, and the Third is the Rift S. Rift S still had too much SDE for me, but it was clearer than most. Pimax 5k+ is nice for the FOV but I still had trouble reading gauges and it still had a lot of SDE. HP Reverb is the closest to a monitor at this time and is the clearest VR headset I have put on to date. As for the Index it still had too much SDE. I bought the Samsung Odyssey Plus on sale for $299 and have not regretted my purchase. With Steam VR SuperSampling set at 250%, I can read the A-10C CDU next to my right leg without leaning down, but it is still not 1080p quality more like 720p. With the HP Reverb it is 1080p quality. AS you can see I have no monitor in front of my setup. https://i.imgur.com/xQhFO87.jpg As for a computer you will need at least a i5 6600k, 32 gb of Ram, and at least a 1080. For the Reverb you will need at least a 2080 or 1080 ti. Make sure you can return the headset if you do not like it.
  4. I was on version 1.1.4 and have tried beta version 1.2.1 also. When playing DCS I get the Steam VR black box loading screen every few seconds, or micro stutters, so the game was unplayable. It was the same way when you left Interleaved Reprojection on with the older Steam VR. I rolled back before they took out the Reprojection boxes and found that in fact Interleave Reprojection was defaulted on with no way to uncheck the box to turn it off. So the newer versions of Steam VR can not be used properly with DCS. So if you are a Vive or WMR owner you would probably have problems with VR in DCS, if not the loading screens and micro stutters than a bad drop in FPS. People with a Rift should not be effected. Yes they took out the Reprojection boxes so there is no way to turn it off now. I have a Vive and a Odyssey+ and tried both of them. There is no Motion Smoothing on the O+ and I turned it off on the Vive because I thought it might have been the problem but it still did it.
  5. If anyone is having trouble with DCS since the newer patches for Steam VR I have confirmed the reason. The new Steam VR has Interleaved Reprojection on as Default with no way to turn it off. I rolled back my Steam VR and both Reprojection boxes were check marked. I then tried DCS with both Reprojection on and it is doing the same thing with the Steam VR black box coming up every few seconds. I then unchecked Interleaved Reprojection and went back into the game. Everything ran smooth again. This is confirmed the Interleaved Reprojection is causing the problem in DCS and some other simulation games. If someone can go into Steam VR setting in the current version and add under SteamVR and see if that fixes their problems. "allowInterleavedReprojection": false, "forceReprojection": false, Here is the roll back instructions https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/470367950289895432/518681434580451348/Roll_Back_SteamVR.jpg
  6. Having same problem on Odyssey+ there is no motion smoothing on it. I have noticed one big thing on Steam VR they have all reprojection on by default now so interleaved is also on which did not do good with DCS. There is no box to uncheck now so you can not turn it off.

    I give up

I can not get VR to work correctly anymore after the last few patches. I even reinstalled my whole computer. I get constant load screen every few seconds and have tried everything I have found on searches. Does not matter where I put my settings from the lowest possible to the highest possible I still have micro pauses and the little black steam box. Watching my computer it does not show the CPU bottle necking, no overheats, and no memory problems. I just can not figure it out. I am using DCS standalone with SteamVR. I have both the Vive and Odyssey+ they both do the same thing. Did not seem to start happening until October after one of the patches. This is the ONLY game that is having a problem. Elite, ATS, and any other simulation game is fine.
  9. F/A-18 Released? Do not see it on my modules. I tried to do a CMD updater and it says I am up to date. It was released today?
  10. None of the Runways lineup with the compass and ADI on Caucasus map in the A-10c have not tried other aircraft yet. So coming into Batumi the Landing heading is 119 but it is way off. I also noticed sitting on the ramp which use to be North is now West on the magnetic compass. So either the map is setup wrong or the A-10c.
  11. I've sat in a A-10A when I was younger and I will tell you it looks exactly the same IRL. I was at the Dayton, OH airshow with my Dad when I was 18 and just passed my ASVAB with a 90 for the USAF which let me pick Pilot which I told the A-10 pilot at the time and I put down A-10, F-15, or F-16 Pilot for my choices. He let me sit in the A-10 which was amazing and that was the first thing I saw a slightly gold tint kind of like blue blocker sunglasses. I can only guess that it did the same thing. Oh and for my USAF career unfortunately I lied on my medical and they caught it. I have bad ears so flying was out and so was my USAF career seemed they did not like lying.

    32Gb vs 16Gb?

I have 32gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400 MHz (2x16) which I got last year for $165 now it is $350 I will tell you if you have VR 32gb really helps for all games I use SteamVR supersampling on 3.0 and have no stutters on any game.
  13. How do you get the Vive Controllers to work all it does is show hands but nothing happens when you press a button? And I see nothing in the controls to bind a key to them they do not show up on controls just my HOTAS and Rudder Pedals.
  14. Turn it off and turn up your SteamVR they are both anti aliasing I never use anti aliasing in any game don't need it with Supersampling turned up.
  15. Is there anyway DCS is ever going to support this? I would love to use my Leap Motion in DCS. I noticed VR controller support which is nice but for one thing you have the hands at a 90 degree angle which does not feel right.
  16. I was blown away how much better the VR was now in 2.5 the graphics look so much better and it is very smooth no jitter or anything. I run SteamVR on 3.0 Supersampling also. I know people will ask so here is my Specs. i5 6600k 3.5mhz (OC to 4.3mhz) Asus Nvidia 1080 ROG Strix 1835mhz (OC to 1935mhz) Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB(2x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz HTC Vive with SteamVR Supersampling at 3.0 Asus ROG has a nice little program with it for overclocking and it has a Gaming Boost on it which turns off all the background programs that you don't use for gaming which helps a lot. Here is my DCS setting I use PD at 1.0 since I am using SteamVR at 3.0
  17. Hmm not sure but the guy the helped develop the DCS Mig 21 is a Russian Fighter Pilot and has access to all of the MIG 21 specs.
  18. Yeah I think that is it Mirmidon seems like the people using the 1.976 Beta is not having the same problems with it.
  19. OK can one of the gunfighters please tell me exactly how to install this? Nothing is working I got it working at first with HMA but after restarting my computer TS just crashes again. Seems weird that the last version worked so good in the last 2 months I had one Aries crash and that was this Wed. I had to uninstall just to use TS again. Oh yeah I reinstalled 1.973 again.
  20. Hmm you mean your create fast mission works? Mine has not worked for awhile.
  21. Yeah Sabre's are probably the best out there they are not video's but hands on missions. Video's are good but hands on is the best and Sabre didn't you use real instructor audio to script your training missions?
  22. Screw the X wing I want DCS: DeathStar. Although if DCS did it the. Xwing would be kickass.
  23. Actually you can set it to both on the TGP so you can IR point and bomb a target at the same time.
  24. Probably not much different than an A10 loaded to the teeth. I see a lot of people using max loads on many aircraft which is unrealistic anyway. In the real A10C manual it says all missions are to use no less than 9600 pounds of fuel that is 87% after that then load your aircraft and see what you can carry and most use 100% fuel from all the videos I have ever saw.
  25. To contact ground turn the knob to INT and use the AM radio or mc forward and select F8 to bring up the menu. Remember to turn the knob back before contacting tower or it will not work.
