Havent played Fc2 on the 480 yet, but I can tell you it is awesome in general :). (dont know how that guy in the video got it to make that noise, mine is never that loud :P) If you have a case with good airflow, it is a silent card. I ran the Unigine Heaven DX11 benchmark for 20 minutes straight and this was one of the few cases where the card's fans actually started spinning up at all (it was still not very noticable). Now, I have a case with very good airflow (insanely good actually), but I'm just saying: With this configuration the card is more silent than my hd4870 was in my old machine. Comparison: If I have my window open there is no way I can tell if my computer is on or not, only very demanding games will cause the fan of the 480 to spin up at all for me. - Yes it gets hot - Yes, unless you have good airflow it will make noise (for me it is dead silent) - Yes ur electrical bill might go up very slightly - Yes you need a darn good PSU - Yes you spank that 5870 :) (http://yoda.reservoirselite.com/gtxv5870.pdf) FYI I refuse to get a 5970 or any sli setup. Ive had it before, and I'm never doing it again hehe. ----------- And yes, the 465 seems to be pretty much crap. .

I will have a server up soon, or at least at some point, which allows local exports (exporting data from own sensors). This let's Eri/Leavu run fine. However "tacview live" will not work ;) I believe 44th will also be hosting a mission at some point.

You are stating your opinion as if it was everybody's truth. In fact very many people disagree with you , so saying "this has already been discussed, this was the results" is completely misguiding. The only thing you are saying is your own opinion, which just so happens to be at one far end of the spectrum. One way you could have said it would be "We don't believe the general risks with enabled data export are worth it" or "we feel like the specific mod ... changes gameplay from what we intend to have on our server" Instead you write As if your opinion is some form of general fact and that Leavu is the cause of all your problems. Leavu has not exposed a single data source or variable that isn't already available and advertised as available by ED themselves. Whatever you chose to set as available on your server is up to you, but don't come and say Leavu has exposed more than what was already there.

Nothing to do with leavu. Only the data export ability itself.

Thank you for making LEAVU!!

Happy that you like it :). I have so much work going on right now that I'm not sure if there will be any new leavu releases anytime soon, but you can get the entire program source code from http://www.kenai.com if you want to expand it! -
My gpu drivers dont even load if I have this switch activated, so I recommend using a 64bit OS - then you dont have to worry about it.

Maybe they have the image source from a diff angle in newer eagles to prevent the need for 2 plates?
-
I had the same question, don't know if this is an F-15 hud, but it was on google picture search keywords "F-15 hud" It seems that given the angles required on the "beam splitters", or whatever theyre called for a hud, that you need 2 plates. I think a better solution would be a horizontally mounted image source, a mirror and then a single beam splitter plate, but I guess it is not used in aircraft. (or just mount the image source from a diff angle)

It also works well vs contacts hidden by others using ECM

This reminds me I have to start building my new computer and get more ram

Great stuff Mustang!

To everyone with this problem: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=710319#post710319 This is apparently already investigated for DCS BS. The best workaround so far seems to be get 6 gigs of ram and run 64bit OS Thank you c0ff and Panzer for your explanations! :) Thx everyone else also for your input.

Very good to know. Does this mean that the game currently does not perform cleanup? (Future feature perhaps?)
-
Mustang may be running without page file I guess? Myself I've entered crawl mode so far :). Also consider memory fragmentation. My friend wrote a paper on that, however I've never read it and don't know how good xp is at it.
-
Yes 32 bit is bound to 2 GB max, but if a system only has 4gigs maximum it won't always allow applications to take 2GB, that is why i rec 6 or more. (My own system doesn't like above 1.4 GB or so for one app)

Ok i think I know what is happening. It is not a memory leak, but rather a lack of memory clearing. Old stuff is simply not cleared out. Video memory is not being overrun but normal ram IS being overrun. This picture is on my 4 GB system and it is about to run out of memory. (although I never got the crash I am basically out of memory and the game is stuttering.) The reason why it is not a leak but just a lack of memory clearing is that once I "fly through an area (just f11+spin wasnt enough for me, I also used F11 view to fly all around the map in the 104th server), the second time I enter an area no new memory is allocated. SO it seems very clear to me, that there is No memory cleanup of old potentially unused resources A lot new materials to load with time You will run out of memory on a 2 GB system, potentially also on 4 GB systems Because this is a design flaw/choice/result of the current code, I do not think we can expect any change to this behaviour or any "patch" to change it. It would require too much work. So in the meantime all I can suggest is that you turn down the textures scenes to medium and get more RAM, at least 4 GB as a workaround. If you can, get 6 or 8GB of ram. I will ask the developers. Update: I have made a very long post in testers forums asking the developers. Will relay the answer -->Mustang do you have any external app to read and plot VRAM usage with during the same test?<-- .
-
Did you ask ED devs about this? I am not sure what their stance is on this, but might be worth a try? :)
-
If this is the problem that I think it is, then that will only be a temporary workaround, in the sense that If you keep filling the ram with more junk it will clog up eventually anyway. Unfortunately no, because many systems require you to have a set number of ram sticks installed (for example a multiple of 3).
-
Hm. To me it sounds like memleak+out of memory issue. Essentially, sounds like a bug in the game who's symptoms get worse by only 2 gigs of ram
-
Makes me think even more that it is a memory leak. Must find a foolproof way of creating this crash on any system.

Two questions: 1. This happens with non-patched fc2 as well? (if you are unsure, maybe you can test it?, you dont need to remove your current installation, just back it up) 2. This is going to sound strange/noobish, but I have experienced situations where the ATT actually has caused CTDs for me (quick ones, such as program doesnt launch if ATT is installed but launches as soon as I uninstall it). Could you test without ATT? (I will test your settings regardless when I get home today) With 400 MB i was referring to the ingame memory usage display
-
Mustang could you specify your exact hardware setup, drivers, a printscreen of your 3d settings and ingame settings so I can replicate your test in detail? My test was 1024 windowed on a hd4870 512 MB on winxp32 sp3 E8400 4gigs of ram Ingame settings were stock

Maybe, depends on how you do it, but definitely not outside rwr limits.
-
If you barrel roll around the missile then it will be within 10 degrees of your bank. It will not drop off your RWR, or you have the geometry wrong.

"This is the most realistic non-military F-16 sim out there" (regarding the Flight Model) It is rewritten from the core.
