Wow. Beautiful, and it's a keeper. Do you have a similar drawing for the joystick? -

I looked but I couldn't find the switch on the left or right console. Is it modeled in the DCS version? What is the switch called? -

I'm guessing a tank probably can not point their guns at such a steep angle of attack. -
How to silence the landing/gear horn using a keyboard key?

Thank you. For what it's worth I did search before asking. I don't know why I didn't catch that one. -

@Gasman6the perceived advantage to this speedbrake behavior is in a steep dive (think German "Stuka" bomber in WWII) when you want to go as slow as possible on the dive and as far away as possible from the target after the dive. Does anyone know if this can be done by the A-10 in real life? -
Can speed brake work simultaneously with other actions?

I did some tests. Works great. Thank you both. My life is complete. Lol. -
Can speed brake work simultaneously with other actions?
bofhlusr replied to bofhlusr's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Thank you for the above clarification. This helps a bit. I'm using joy2key so that when I press a one joystick button, the speed brake extends while the button is pressed, and the speed brake retracts when i let go of the button. I was wondering why I couldn't do anything else while using the speed brakes. I wish that the braking action could be made faster than the 3-4 seconds it takes to extend or retract the speed brake. This is likely not done in real life but...it'll be more fun to 'tune' the plane and the game. -
How do I unsnap(?) or replace a snap view?

Is there an in-cockpit "look back" keyboard shortcut?

It looks like the upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8 may have been a 'downgrade' for me in as far as the HUD symbology goes. I'd like to do 'before and after' tests. How do I remove 2.8 and go back to 2.7 (I don't have a Windows Restore from 2.7 to 2.8). Possible? My desktop specs: nVidia GTX 1070ti on a Dell 27" 2560x1440 G-Sync monitor (Model S2716DGR at 120 dpi, 144Hz refresh rate), 32 GB RAM, and Win 10 Pro. At 'Instant Action', 'Free Flight', and Options at High settings; frame rates are 47-53 fps without anti-virus but with VPN on. No add-ons or processes other than a screen capture app, Microsoft Edge and OneNote running on the background. Single player only. Thank you.

I found an old screen capture of the HUD taken about a week ago. The picture below was before the last update which apparently happened in the last 24 hours (1/26/2023)? Maybe it's just me, but the HUD seems to look different a week ago (see below) compared to today after the update (see above). I was not aware of the update until it was mentioned in this forum's post.

At "Instant Action"/"Take-Off" start-up, I had to use the rocker on the UFC to see the symbols on the HUD. The picture on the left is before I touched the brightness rocker button to display symbology on the HUD. (I had changed the default color to black fonts prior to the upgrade. After the upgrade, it seems less black now at maximum brightness and the fonts seem thinner).

I have much to learn and read. No doubt lots of questions as well. To start and summarize, if all I want to do is the following using just one program and keeping it as simple as possible without editing lua files, which one would you suggest: Joy2Key or Joystick Gremlin? 1. Create a snap view functionality on F4 (press a joystick button which will show the default view F4, and at release of the joystick button, go back to prior view) 2. Press a joystick button which will extend the speed brakes (quickly if possible) and retracts it upon the release of the joystick button 3. Press a joystick button which will simulate the keystroke LWIN-Num5 but without snapping back. A second press returns to the prior view. -

Other than JG's website, can you suggest other websites, links, forums, etc. for learning JG? -

Does vJoy and JG have priority over the physical joystick when there is conflicting actions between the two? For example: virtual Button10 on vJoy simulates pressing 'g', but physical Button10 on the joystick and DCS simulates pressing 'f' instead? -

@jaylw314I did a first look and a quickie test of JG last night without reading the manual and simulated pressing the 'g' and 'f' keyboard keystrokes by pressing the physical Button 10 on my joystick. I tested it in Windows Notepad and it worked. Pressing Button 10 on my joystick resulted in 'g' and 'f' showing up on the Windows Notepad. Testing it inside the game also worked. The gear and flaps went down. BUT (there's always a 'but' right? <g>) pressing Button 10 on the joystick also did a lot of other actions that surprised me (see sample below). I was guessing that maybe because I didn't hide the physical joystick? EDIT ADDITION: The reason I looked at the Control Options below is because in addition to extending the gear and the flaps, the A-10 also fired (triggered) its gun which I thought very odd since I only created two actions ('g' and 'f') for joystick Button 10. -

This is nice. It is a tough choice between Joy2Key and Joystick Gremlin. Do you have both installed in your PC? Any compatibility issues in installing both? -

@Baldrick33 I checked out the Joy2Key screen that you posted above. With regards to that screen, can I assign two buttons on the physical joystick? For example: pressing the #1 and #2 buttons simultaneously on the physical joystick will result in simulating the following keystrokes on the keyboard: 'g'+'LShift-f'+'LCtrl-t' +'Numpad-Minus' +'Numpad-Minus' +'Numpad-Minus'? (After take-off: retract the gear and flaps, center trim, and decrease speed). -

I am going to checkout your Joy2Stick screen above. Thank you. For the Joystick Gremlin do I need to hide my physical joystick (Logitech 3D) with a program such as 'hidhide' which you didn't mention as using, but is mentioned in this YouTube video? -

I took a quick look at the on-line manual for Joystick Gremlin. It has a learning curve and I'm afraid I'll have lots of questions that is probably better asked in a forum for Joystick Gremlin (if I can find one). I was able to quickly create a Joystick Gremlin macro that pressed the g, f, and Ctrl-t keystrokes which showed up in Notepad but only worked partly in the A-10C. I'm not sure learning Joystick Gremlin now makes sense considering I still have lots to learn in the A-10. Looking forward to your screen post later. Thank you. -
