Is there any possibility of us getting the F14D-Super Tomcat?
Greekbull replied to Jogui3000's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Lol and I'm a little more excited for the B Model;). But I'll be happy with either...just a bit happier we're getting the B first:D Although we'll have to do some fun stuff with the skins since VF-2 only flew the A and the D...so a fictional VF-2 B will need to be made. -

Forrestal Development Update: Deck Crew WiP!
Greekbull replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I don't want to continue to go back and forth. We're taking this thread off topic. Cobra has already assured is that their work will not be a big performance hit. Let's enjoy the amazing work they've done and look forward to more content that wows us! I also think Heatblur is so far away from a profit only oriented studio...a great example is the thread were currently on! This is extra content along with the Forrestal that represent extra efforts by Heatblur to give us a much better experience!;) -

Forrestal Development Update: Deck Crew WiP!
Greekbull replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
FSX has nothing to do with Hardware...it's running on an ancient platform that does not utilize modern hardware advances at all. DCS in Edge is pretty easy to get very high FPS at maxed out settings. We're nowhere near an FSX type of problem. -
Forrestal Development Update: Deck Crew WiP!
Greekbull replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The answer is push the technology out there. With a decently fast computer(relatively modern i5/i7), decent RAM, GPU of at least GTX 970 or so you can run this stuff on high all day. That is all hardware that's been out for a few years. More than reasonable. Your flying a Sim on a PC. Upgrading every couple of years to run something on high settings should be expected. Again Cobra has pointed out his stuff isn't going to change your performance much anyway. But I just don't get this attitude of please don't give us a product that pushes our systems too much. Most of us don't feel that way ;) -
Forrestal Development Update: Deck Crew WiP!

Honestly push the envelope! If I need to buy better hardware(which I understand I won't need to in this particular case) so be it. I would rather invest in hardware to drive a higher fidelity experience and I'm sure most of us are that way. The guys we fly with are constantly upgrading our rigs for just that reason.... Thanks for your work and most of us don't need convincing :D -
Thanks...all the credit goes to Gunny. Who would've thought...Marines with video skills:D lol jk we love ya Gunny!

Forrestal Development Update: Deck Crew WiP!

This is just amazing! Unbelievable detail! I'm so excited to see this all come together with the Tomcat and Forrestal. It will literally be 30+years of dreams for a sim come true! Thanks again for all the hard work! -
New Video Gunny(Bullet 105) threw together for us of our more recent flight nights: He does some great work...here's his personal YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC29JpfuVwsPSqVTP40uJvfg

Great thanks for posting. Hopefully someone will try to trap:D Can't wait to see the carrier!
-
Appreciate the info and the future videos! Really really wish I was there to try trapping today! I think I could manage a decent pass but you never know lol:D

While it would be great to see something more detailed implemented. We currently launch from the Bush Mod Carrier, Refuel on the way in, hit targets and Refuel on the way out to the boat and never have an issue getting out the boat as it is with it heading on the same heading(Usually 270) for the entire mission. I would think this level of complexity of implementation would be a low priority to the module and CV release. At least I hope it is:D

Video link isn't working for me:D

Another great night of flying tonight with more Carrier Quals, Formation Flying, Refueling, and some Air to Ground work..

OK the Bounty Hunters are back! After a good half year or so of being relatively dormant...with moves, business openings, life etc. VFA-2 has come back to life and will be resuming flights multiple nights per week. Tonight Storm and I went up and did a bunch of traps, formation flying and went up to the tanker for some gas. Should have 4-5 of us on tomorrow doing the same:D Hope to keep this updated with pics from our flights as we do! As always for more images please see our website linked in my sig;)

ED is working on a Nimitz class carrier. The Forrestal will give us two platforms to fly off of;)
-
Yes all would be amazing additions...Late 80s very early 90s were my absolute favorite time for carrier aviation...F-14s, A-7s, A-6Es, EA/6Bs, F-18s, C-2, E-2 and SH-3. The most diverse number of airframes on a carrier at once. It was awesome:D. Would love to be able to get a cooperative environment one day where we had multiple squadron's operating multiple naval variants in the same environment...Heck even the AV-8B off an LHA deck will be awesome as well!
-
Looks good! Thanks for the update in any form:D

VF-2 is a must of course:D I can't wait to rock that skin on the F-14...of course I'm sure we'll need to modify it to work on the F-14B as VF-2 went from the A to the D so flying the F-14B isn't exactly historically accurate...but we want to use the F110 engines:D
