Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. This comment is what keeps me checking my email four times a day. "...we're really nitpicking here. I wouldn't give it up for big 4K (and the GPU's I'd need to run it), much less any other display out there."

I'm curious, did I miss something or did DCS release 1.3 support? I understand that some issues will carry over from title to title but it sounds like the reactions are: We can hope that 2nd generation VR will be worthwhile for simming. How are you all coming to that conclusion without having tried the CV1 in DCS yet? Or am I late to the party and missed that ED has got DCS working with 1.3? As far as canceling orders, I wouldn't. In 20 years time the first generation VR gear will actually be a fought over collectors item. With that in mind don't toss the box it comes in. :)

Keep us posted, is this only happening with the Apollo game or every game?

Tax return received, beer cracked, Rift is now "free," money left over for the wife to shop with. :D

Thanks DerekSpeare, the SDE difference is very eye opening, thanks for posting to show us the difference. This. I can't read most the instruments on the A-10C at my normal view anyways and lean in to read them already on my monitor. When I first started playing DCS I used zoom all the time and would use the "reset" zoom in/out to get my position in cockpit. Now I let the DCS zoom out at the start, then go another 3-4 zoom out presses and leave it there. Seems like it should be close to where your position is in VR land and I actually enjoy flying much more now and leaning in has just become the new normal.

TF is working on Rift support for TF5.0 which is due out sometime this year. Head over to the ATAG forums, they host us on their forums and servers. Here is a link to the thread about the OR w/ CloD. http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21356 @KLR, thanks for the photos to show us a first look, can't wait to get mine!. I'd second what has been said though, remember those are taken through a phone being held up to the lens, there will be artifacts. Every time I hear you guys say you'll never go back to a monitor makes the wait all the more harder. Keep sharing!

Indeed, this is all 1st world problems however a multi-billion dollar company should have their ducks in a row before doing anything. Offering free shipping was a good gesture and should silence everyone (after all it is only a 2-4 week delay), for me I could care less, I just want VR, be it tomorrow or the end of April. I just got my email about April 12th and free shipping, that is all I wanted, just an acknowledgement that my order is intact and will ship when they have the parts. I don't need free shipping. Either way I think I would have been bummed anyways if I got mine on time because of the lack of support for the new runtime for the games I play, DCS and CloD.

I for one am just excited to get my OR whenever it comes, and while I agree with what you and Derek are saying, Oculus brought this on themselves, just like their stupidity on quoting price points well before a consumer version was close. They should have never said a price in the early days and with the pre-ordering they should have never emailed out a ship date, instead they should have sent a confirmation order and a TBA ship date. They'll figure it out, I'm not worried but they could have prevented the mess they created by simply not giving anyone a ship date.

Another addition we'll need. Pretty sweet. [ame] [/ame]

This is interesting, not sure how accurate it really is. I have a 26 and still nothing from Oculus though.

Haha yeah, I think you were the one who posted the link about ATW being baked in, without it I wouldn't have known what ATW was. Blame it on the waiting game for CV1! I'm starting to hear from a few people that are getting emails about 1-3 week ship dates... still waiting on mine.
-
ATW is Asynchronous Time Warp.

Still can't wait but couldn't agree more with this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/03/29/when-is-a-launch-not-a-launch-when-its-the-oculus-rift/#2ca7182c74a8 Basically states the dilemma I'm in and probably most of us. Only difference was I pre-ordered and had no issues, confirmation email sent 4 minutes after the site went live. Had my March ship date and now all I see is TBA. I got an email back from a support ticket yesterday just saying my order was confirmed. For all I know I'll be in the September ship. Something tells me that all the dates we received on our initial confirmation are lost in cyberspace forever, hopefully I'm wrong.
-
It has happened:
-
I was part of the March shipment and haven't got an email like that.... hmmmm

Thanks for the advice, I'll follow it. Seems like a good idea rather than jumping in at the deep end.

Very nice. Thanks for posting!

Thanks Frusheen! That is excellent, really helps me out with trying to get used to what will be the new norm as far as getting away from zoom +/- and being closer to the HUD then I should be (20+ years of doing so... lol)... which surprisingly only has took about 2/3 missions of setting it further away and not zooming in ever to get used to it and now I actually prefer it that way. If I have to read something then I'll lean in, if not then I can see and ballpark pretty darn close what the instrument is saying.
-
@average pilot, thanks for that video, that seems to answer my question. I can guess and it seems like if you zoom out almost completely on a normal monitor we'll have an idea about the "view" we will have.
-
Can someone tell us what the view is comparable to while using OR? Meaning after the DCS zoom on mission start, it sett;es on that zoom distance. In the rift, what is that zoom distance comparable to? After the DCS zoom out, how many clicks of zoom +/- do you have to do to get something comparable. This will help people get an idea about gauge/hud readability.

@Chuck, the A-10C is the best, P-51 is pretty awesome too. The tutorial missions you get with the A-10C are pretty good. I always say if you are willing to jump online and get on TeamSpeak someone can get you going pretty darn fast. I'm willing to help you out if you ever get to that point, just PM me. I have the A-10C and the P-51D and am familiar with both... only issue is I fly DCS 2.0 (The Nevada map) and would probably have to do a days worth of updates on 1.5 to fly that map. Cheers, have fun!

Haha, true. I also figured the use of saying "eject eject eject" was factored in why the three pushes. Too bad it isn't an option in game to set it up the way you prefer.
-
Hmm, why do they require three pushes in the first place? It's not like you have to pull the lever or cords three times in real life. Grr.
-
Good idea Retu, thanks for that! Now I'll have to google how to do that. Cheers
-
Is there a way to bypass the required 3 pushes to eject? I was thinking about putting a lever on the side of my seat and would like to only have to pull it once. Is this possible?
