Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
_Acoustic_ replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Look back a few pages. Starway has posted images through several aircrafts TGP including the A-10C. I've used it for when I wanted to give older textures or older games more pop and clarity, but based on the screens of the old map next to Starway's work, it doesn't seem like SweetFx would be needed anymore. Just curious on what else SweetFx is used for I guess. Also, I think that question got answered somewhere back in the first couple of pages, can't remember where though, possibly on the first two or three pages. A lot of pages to sort through already! -

Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway

Great work Starway, very nicely done. I'll definitely be purchasing once ED splices 1.5 and 2.0 together since I only have 2.0 installed right now. Again, thanks for the effort, really well done. -
I was just saying how the zoom works on a monitor doesn't sit right in your mind (at least mine). The binocular feature would probably be great, I've never tried it but as long as it looks like you are looking through optics I bet I'd enjoy it but just zooming in and out regularly while in VR really jacked me up.
-
Thanks, yeah it is much better, can't wait to get my rift to try it out. Just wish your head movement kept engaged rather than defaulting to the mouse while floating down from 15k watching the sunset.
-
Just updated 2.0, and noticed the ejection doesn't automatically put you into F2 view. This is excellent, especially for VR! Thanks ED. Question though, is there a way to allow your head movement to be picked up to move your view (trackIR and VR) rather than having to move the mouse around?
-
Zoom how it works now would cause you to throw up your lunch in VR. It has been requested to do something realistic like a binoculars but zooming in and out like it works on a monitor won't work in VR.

What laser, what aircraft? On the A-10C I have it mapped to the same button as my nose wheel steering button with a modifier.
-
Excellent, have any more insider information? Can't wait to try this damn thing.
-
For DCS just comms, but for space sims it makes sense to have more mapped to vocal commands.
-
Voice attack is what I use. I honestly have no idea how anyone can fly without it, especially in VR. It is a must, best $8 upgrade to your sim expirence period.

Haha, good to hear!

If anyone is having jumpy situations, possibly like micro stutters in VR, our main coder has found a solution to his in CloD: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21356&p=226542&viewfull=1#post226542

^^What Zilla said, it is beyond strict. I'd say you'd be fine. My specs are below and OR's system thing flagged my CPU. I'd suggest DL the SteamVR test and let the render play. That test showed this:

Haha, keep the reviews coming. Love reading how exciting people are saying this is.

Been playing online more recently and just played the Boulder mission on the F99th. Great stuff! Thanks for all the work from your map maker. Got 7/8 LGB kills and 6/6 mav kills, expended all chaff/flare, barely got out alive. Remaining engine cut out about 5 seconds before touch down at Nellis because I ran out of fuel. Awesome stuff, only takes one sortie on a great map like this to really reenergize you. Only thing that would have made it better was if I was in the rift.

Excellent! I personally don't mind the wait, just hope that when I do get it NTTR will be updated.

Perhaps, FB just owns OR, OR is its own entity and could easily fail while the book of face continues. My point was that to take two weeks to figure out shipping and give out actual dates and then not deliver again means customers leave.
-
While I agree that this was a major SNAFU on their part, I'd be shocked if they don't deliver on those dates. They gave themselves close to 15 days to figure out ship dates for all their pre-orders which means they are confident they will get them out by the estimated ship date window. Estimate to me means could be a week before, a week after the window they gave us. To not deliver again would be company suicide, and if they didn't think they could get the headsets out by those dates they wouldn't have given us any dates. In the end though I don't mind waiting, first world problems plus it gives us more time to wait for DCS updates for 2.0 and optimizing updates as well. I could be wrong though, you never know but from a purely business standpoint the launch was a disaster, to quote dates again and fail means heads roll and fast. That is why I think we'll all get our headsets around the dates posted. For me (May 2nd-12th), that means last week of April up to the third week of May.

Got my email, shipping May 2nd-12th. Not bad, Hopefully NTTR will be updated by then. Woooo!

Really enjoying all the reviews. Glad to see both platforms seem to be initially successful. Good news for the future. Happy with my choice since I only play flight sims and so far seems to win out on the comfort area but I'd love to try out the whole room VR experience that Vive offers. Hoping to get an email soon.

That tested review is a great one, must see by anyone interested in VR.

Haha! Can't wait.

Thanks Super, that was a really informative, non bias review. Glad to hear both seem to be great.
