I think the reviews for DCS in VR will be all over the place due to the fact that users will be coming from different set ups. For instance, up until recently with my new 980ti, I've always been fine with my 570HD and 35FPS. Now with the 980ti, I don't notice all that much of a difference between when I'm flying over Vegas with 40FPS with everything maxed out compared to when I get into the outskirts and I get maxed at 60FPS with my monitor refresh rate. Don't get me wrong, I do see a slight difference but that is only if I'm paying attention for it and watching the FPS ticker. If I'm not waiting for the change then I don't notice any difference until I get to about 26FPS or lower, then it starts to get to me. Point being is I've played flight sims within the FPS boundaries of 30-40 for basically 20 years and the last month since I installed the 980ti is the only time I've seen above those levels. The resolution. Sure if you are coming from a 4k monitor it will be a shocker, but I've always played with a 1920x1080 60hz monitor, or my TV at the same res and refresh rate, so honestly I don't think I will see much of a difference. Any review of VR should come with the users prior set up. Some things that are a deal break for one user might not even be noticed by another based on their prior setup.

There is too much detail in this sim not to have proper ground personnel. This is a low priority request but I think in a sim like this we need proper ground crews. Crash crew, fuelers, aircraft recovery spec, aircraft maintenance personnel, ect. I'm sure someone here in the community could get this done but I've looked and failed for anything like this or a template for the infantry.

Just wondering if anyone had one or knows how to create one. Upon landing if your aircraft is damaged once you land ARFF would roll.
-
Couldn't agree more. I wonder if a script/trigger could accomplish this? I've never scripted anything in DCS but I imagine it is possible. Just set up the parameters of the trigger to check if the landing aircraft is damaged or not, if so once aircraft lands it triggers an AI truck to drive out. Not sure how to make the truck go to the aircrafts position though.

Here is what I use: http://www.voiceattack.com/ You can program any command that is a key stroke. So technically you can use it to fire weapons or lower flaps but for DCS I just use it for comms. For instance, I key the mic button and it brings up the home comm list, so from there Voice Attack takes over and I can pick from wingman, flight, ATC, etc. Then from there depending on what I want, it is all done in one saying, so if I want my wing to engage, I just say Two, engage bandits/ground/tanks/ etc and he does it. If I want to land I just say _____ Tower, (callsign ___) requesting landing clearance runway _____ Left/Right. To taxi... ____ Tower, (callsign ___) requesting clearance to runway ___ via ____ and ____ or whatever it may be.

Indeed. Can't wait to see what ED has up their sleeve for ATC. I couldn't imagine pressing a bunch of buttons instead of saying "Nellis approach, Chevy one requesting landing clearance, runway two-one left." Then taxing over to the fuel farm and saying "Chief, brass and gas." With or without VR, voice attack is a must.

I'll make one if someone has the template. I found the F18 template so I'll do a Blue Angels one too.
-
It exists, I've seen shots. Doesn't seem like they want to make it public.

I know I've seen people who have a skin for the Thunderbirds but can't find it anywhere. Willing to share? If not I'll make my own just figured I'd ask.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway layout bug
_Acoustic_ replied to VMFA117_Poko's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
They may fix it who knows, this last update gave us actual racing cars with NASCAR like paint jobs. Before they were all gray. -
Ok I've decided not to wait for pascal

Rift is CPU heavy. A 980 ti does wonders by itself. No regrets buying mine last month. -
Seriously? This needs to come back. A single plane could take out a 10,000 foot runway with 4 well placed Mk-84's. Instead of removing this how about add a engineer script who could fix the craters after a certain amount of time. The script would require more of an ongoing based war/campaign like you see on some CloD servers but either way runways should show cratering and if someone wants to attempt to take off still then they could try.

Oculus Rift's price point compared to other new technologies with inflation. http://fortune.com/2016/01/12/oculus-rift-pricing/ Still makes me scratch my head about the outrage. People spend more on phones.

Not sure about the penalty. As far as a fan, I'm thinking of wiring the OFF to the canopy closed toggle and possibly the lowest setting to the open toggle since you wouldn't want the fan blowing full force just sitting there on the taxiway. Then maybe make a simple mechanism to trip the highest setting when throttling up.
-
I have a few ideas about how to do this but let me know what you decide on, I think it is a must for the WW2 birds.
-
May need to wire a fan to my canopy open/close switch for WW2 birds. :D

This.

Yup, at zero you won't, but I'd say keep it around 100/200 to keep things interesting. I have mine set at 500 just because I like to practice if I remember the emergency procedures. Even at 500 I only get an engine fire on take off about once every 25/30 takeoffs. Like Devrim said, they are not visible, although in 2.0 they are visible above bodies of water but not sure if those are able to cause problems.
-
What is your bird strike setting at? If it is maxed out this will happen all the time, I'd say 30-35% of my take offs ended with an engine fire/bird strike when that setting was maxed.

Can't land straight once brakes applied on landing
_Acoustic_ replied to bunraku's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yup, curves and deadzones are something you'll be messing with a lot now to find what works for you. I had the same issue as you, the deadzone and curves have helped but I try to be gentle with the toe brakes which also helps you be able to correct any left/right over pressure. -

@hannibal: Good to hear! The OR test your system thing only flagged my CPU but I'm not worried about that at all, I can't imagine it not handling it and if it doesn't, then I'll work a couple extra shifts and upgrade my CPU... haha it really is a never ending $$ hobby!
