I am just using Steam VR beta now with DCS because Steam itself doesn't launch when I launch straight from the DCS exe? But I have set my Steam VR beta to 100% and it does give me the same image quality that Non Steam VR beta was giving me at 180%? It now says I'm rendering at 1608 x 1576 per eye now with 100% set, so do I need to increase it or keep it at this for HP Reverb?
-
@Baldrick33 - Actually you are right. I've just dropped the slider to 100% in Steam VR Beta and there is no difference in image quality and no Ghosting now. I have just recently updated to Steam Beta, so I didn't know to lower it to 100%.
-
I'm on Steam VR beta and have the slider set at 180% in the Steam VR video settings. The difference between having it set at 100% and 180% is like night and day, so I'm not sure why you aren't seeing a difference in image quality with the HP Reverb. Yes there's ghosting but in the F18 Hornet, I get 90 fps at higher altitude and between 45 & 50 fps low down. To me it's totally playable like like that unless you are constantly looking to sides looking for ghosting. Steam VR Beta at 180% shows I'm rendering each eye at 2156 x 2116. This is close to what the HP Reverb resolution is it not? Set at 100% it shows it is rendering each eye at 1608 x 1576. I have a Geforce 2080ti if that makes a difference to the rendering percentage?

@Digitalvole Yes it's the 4 port usb innatek that Oculus suggested and it's also powered because it has a plug on the top. I was using windows drivers for it though because I had problems with my Oculus CV1 and the innatek drivers. Since plugging the HP Reverb into this powered hub I've got rid of the boundary messages that was causing games to glitch. I'm not sure if the PCI card is faulty or what but it definitely doesn't work with HP Reverb. I had tried reinstalling Mixed Reality Portal before changing the usb to the powered hub and all sorts of other fixes. Like reinstalling Mixed Reality for Steam, reinstalling Steam VR and getting brighter lights for my room and putting markers on my walls etc. None this worked for me, so it was obviously the powered Pci usb card causing the problem. All I'm saying is take note that it could be your usb causing problems like it was for me. I would never of guessed it was my usb because there was no disconnect sounds from my usb and you just expect them to work, or should I say I do.

I fixed my problem by plugging my usb into a powered usb hub instead. Before I had it plugged into a powered usb pci card, but it was that which was causing these out of boundary messages. So if you have any problems with a HP Reverb buy yourself a powered Usb Hub and not a powered pci usb card. Might even have been the drivers on the usb card it didn't like.

No, it happens even if my head is still. If you have WMR can you test this by switching off your boundary in Mixed Reality Portal and pressing numpad 5. You won't lose the boundary because it comes back on when the Miixed Reality Portal is started again, but just to test it for me.
-
Yes, I'm using numpad 5 and it works if the Boundary is switched on. However, it doesn't work when my boundary is switched off in the Mixed Reality Portal and the DCS menu is at my feet with noway to get it back to head height. Pressing numpad 5 with it of no-longer centres me and doesn't do anything until I switch the boundary back on.
-
I have tried to stop this none stop boundary message I keep getting in WMR even though my space looks good. So in order to stop this constant message and hopefully play DCS in WMR, I decided to turn off the boundary in Mixed Reality Portal. Great I thought when I saw I could just switch this Boundary off, but now I'm faced with another problem with DCS and WMR. When I start DCS now with the Boundary switched off my DCS menu is around my feet and pressing the number 5 key will not bring the menu back up to head height? Can someone please help me with this. All I want to do is play DCS in VR. Why with the Boundary switched off is the DCS menu around my feet and how do I get it to head height if the number 5 key doesn't reset my view in DCS unless the Boundary is switched on?

Are you talking about Mixed Reality Portal already running in the background or some other service? I don't see Mixed Reality Portal running in the background already?

What program tells you to look up and down and side to side? I've installed Windows portal 3 times and it's never prompted me to do that and neither has any other program. Where have you seen these prompts or how do you get these prompts to show up? You say placing the headset on before DCS start up? You also have to have windows mixed reality portal stated for anything to show up in your headset, so how can you see these prompts in your headset before cliff house has started like you've said? Your post has me a bit confused can you explain this better please? @Baldrik33 When you say your Reverb works fine in DCS are you saying it never losses tracking when you are flicking switches to the sides of you etc? I ask because it could mean I have a faulty headset if yours never does this. My room is ideal for WMR because it is a projector room with no windows. I also have a bright light at 3000 lumens to light up the room when needed. I've placed thing on the wall to so that WMR could track better and my WMR is not pointed at a white wall. My walls are purple. I have the latest Geforce graphics card which is a 2080ti, so my computer isn't a factor either. I also build and do my own computer repairs because I have lots of knowledge regarding this. What I can't do though is test this HP Reverb on another computer because I don't have another one to test it on. But if you say you have no problems with losing tracking at times then this leads me to think it's the HP Reverb that has a fault.
-
I'm sure this is a DCS problem because I don't get headset tracking problems in other VR games like Fallout 4 etc.
-
Does anyone know if ED are going to do WMR native support for DCS? I have the HP Reverb for the last few days and while in the cockpit I keep losing tracking and it jumps about. I'm sure this is a DCS problem because I don't get headset tracking problems in other VR games like Fallout 4 etc.

HP Reverb, WMR, DCS is totally broken for me in VR?

I fixed it like this putting mouse in DCS window, so try that. -
I did try lowing my setting to see if that helped, but it happens even when I'm getting over 60 to 90 fps at high altitude. How do I do what you are suggesting though? Do I just click on the WMR processors tab or something? How is it done with Oculus Rift S and I'll see if I can do it with WMR.
-
The thing is though it only does it in DCS, it doesn't do it in games like Fallout 4 that I play.
-
Yes the light is what I was thinking too. But just another question if you don't mind because I'm new to WMR. I have WMR setup up for room scale atm, but is there anyway I can just switch it to seated instead of room scale without having to re-run the room scale setup when I need it? Can DCS also be used with room scale set just as good as seated setup? Thanks!
-
No, it just seems to quickly flash to a different a view, but it is that fast I don't see what view it is. I'm sure it's still in the cockpit though. it's like it glitches really fast if that makes sense.
-
I've been using the HP Reverb for a few days now with DCS and I'm getting what I can only describe as screen jumps like the headset has lost tracking for a brief moment. It then centres itself back in the cockpit again and is alright for a bit before it does it again. Anyone else have this problem and what could be causing it if you don't? I have a spot light in front of me that is pointed sideways to make sure my room is bright enough for WMR.

Which Hotas do you use?

Appreciate all the replies -Cheers! I think I'll go with the F18 since I already own it. I thought it would be a lot more difficult then the A10C, which I seemed to pick up after a few months. It's good to know it won't be as complicated as that aircraft. I found the CDU input in the A10C quite difficult at times.
-
Does anyone know which Aircraft is easier to pick up? I like the chucks guides and I learned a lot about the A10C from them. However when I looked at his guide for starting up the F18 there was a list of about 67 things to do :shocking: I then watched the Wags guide to starting the F18 though and they made it look easy to start it, so it's left me a bit unsure how complicated the F18 really is to startup and fly? I've looked at the F16 Viper and to me that looks more complicated to start up, but out of the F18 and F16, which aircraft would you guys says is the most difficult to master overall? I did pick up a lot about the A10C, but that was a while ago now and I want to get back into DCS with a fighter aircraft now. Cheers!

I just came to purchase this but now see it's $79.99 when on other sites it says it's $63.99. I take it pre-order means when it is in very early access like now is it not? If not then is there a chance it will go on sale in the near future? Cheers!
-
Thanks for the other advise people gave me, but now I have another big problem. I fly the A10C, but the APU letters are so washed out and bright on the HP Reverb I cant read them? I don't use the steam version of DCS, I buy my stuff from the store if that helps. How do I stop everything looking so bright that I cant read the APU letters and numbers? Cheers!

Can someone help me with something please. I have just purchased a HP Reverb and used to play DCS with Oculus CV1. Since getting the HP Reverb I have unplugged Oculus CV1, but every time I start DCS in VR, I find that Oculus Home still loads up? I am not using Steam DCS I purchase my stuff directly from the DCS website. But why is Oculus Home starting up when I play DCS with HP Reverb now? I don't want to uninstall Oculus home because I have games I might want to play at a later date. Any help with this would be great. Cheers!
