  1. Thanks mate, great stuff!
  2. While trying to run the instant actions on this maps I get the errors WWII Armour and Technics module missing error. Usually, if a module is missing, the missions aren't there at all to begin with. Is there an official module or a non-official mod that I am missing? Thanks in advance. Screenshot below!
  3. Had this baby since launch, but only last night did I get enough free time to map the controls and take her for a spin. Without reading any manuals, just by feel and playing with mixture, throttle and propeller governor, managed 320 knots on the deck, without water injection. This was the default free flight instant action on the Caucasus map. I am yet to try 50% fuel clean runs at 100ft, 10000ft and 20000ft and to take a good look at the cheat sheets for engine management. I get the feeling many people just aren't used to these levels of manual engine management yet. Spent the rest of the night fine tuning the controls and dogfighting "Zeros" ..... with ONLY the CENTER guns! Because I (repeat I) was too dumb to select the inboard and outboard .50 cals!!!! Anyone knows any good recommended climb and acceleration profiles for this baby? She flies like a charm, even without curves (maybe a bit of curves for the rudders, as my feet are clumsy as all hell)! As long as you stay fast that is. You take her too slow, and she will flip a wing on you in no time! null Man, don't let the pencil/button pushers tell you anything! The Grim Rippers are great, and probably one of the few last remaining DCS channels on YouTube that are actually FUN to watch. They don't take themselves seriously, and neither should you. It's all in good fun!
  4. More importantly, is it an African or European!? But of course, the African ones are non migratory!!!
  5. Looking forward to them! Needless to say, alongside the VF-1, VF-213 and VF-143, all of which are already present in one form or another, the AIM/ACEVAL jets are by far my favorite F-14A paint schemes. These birds had the TCS (or an early form of it) as well, so that should be one thing less to worry about regarding externals.
  6. Because I like repeating myself..... anyone else a fan of these babies?
  7. Way too many variables. You need specific launch conditions for both aircraft AND their timelines to even begin using it as a performance benchmark.
  8. Pushovers... Go fight a MiG-15 if you dare!
  9. Try the Persian Gulf, BVR instant action. There's no friendly AWACS there at all. Does the issue still arise?
  10. Such is the case with most government spending!
  11. Solved it! Turns out, it was an installer thing. The updater failed for some reason and created duplicates of the files, but after the fail, even though the window closed, the updater was still running and 'using'/referencing the files, not allowing them to be changed in any way. A restart solved the issue, after which I manually deleted them, and reinstalled the Apache. Serves me right for not shutting down the PC for day at times I guess
  12. Found it! Thanks for the info mate!
  13. The entire DCS folder is in my exclusion/exception list already.
  14. It wasn't always so though. The image below was taken sometimes last year. When were these changes made, and based on what documentation? null
  15. With the latest update I started receiving the following error that prohibits me from completing the update process OR removing the Apache module. When I try to delete the file manually I also get this report. The antivirus is set to exclude the DCS folder at all. What could be the problem? null null
  16. Hey guys, can you double check this? Cause on my machine the bug is still there. Switching from F1 to F2, in the video below, causes the right after burner in the F-14A to always light up with delay. Both engines in ZONE 5. Latest version of DCS.
  17. It's all a matter of practice. Reading on good material helps, but you still need to be able to implement it in an actual fight. Start with AI's and then switch to MP dogfighting servers when you feel comfortable. NOTE: Many of the AI controlled planes cheat big time and have infinite energy reserves. Notable example are MiG-21 and F-5, but there are others as well.
  18. Hey everyone. Been a while since the last I flew more then some instant actions. So last weekend I decided to go take her out for a spin for some CO-OP. While I was telling Jester to setup the NAV grid over the bullseye, I selected the heading to be absolute 090 (the expected vector for bogies/bandits). Back in the day, this would result with the grid being positioned cross like on the TID repeater, with the sectors radiating to the right, and the 4 axis arms coinciding with the 00, 09, 18 and 27 radials. However, (this was on Syria map) to my surprise, the grid seems offset a few degrees. Is this a bug or a feature? If the latter, when was this introduced? Does the absolute heading no longer correspond tp true north? Is the TID no longer aligned to true north? Image bellow for illustration:
  19. Due to personal attacks, both on me and other members of the community who try to report bugs or offer criticism (constructive or otherwise), I no longer feel safe to do so on these forums and will no longer actively pursue such activities aside from supporting already reported issues in the form of bumps, shares and reactions. So please forgive me if I don't share any here anymore. I will DM you though, if you are still interested.
  20. In the software industry there's a concept called feature creep. And when 'improvements' are keep being added while remaining standing issues remain unresolved, it's generally considered bad practice. Now I too understand, we who signed up for the early F-14A are fewer and thus less of a priority. But that doesn't mean we are bound to remain quiet on the topic. Would you if you were in our place? Is it mistake adding these features? Man, judging by the hype of some 2025 announcements, I would say definitely not. Bread and games, man, bread and games.... But as for me...... THIS!
  21. Me as well. I got this module for the early A but just like nuclear fusion, it's always 10 years in the future. I'm completely cold on the Sparrowhawk B. If it drops for free I won't use it. If it's a payed update, I don't need it. If it's a full new module, I don't want it. I have this plane from the very start, and I've never dropped a single bomb from it. Did one rocket run that one time for the laughs of it and that's it. If mud moving was to become a habit of mine, I'd rather have an A-6, but that seems even further removed from an early A. Now if someone was to announce a D F-14, I'd get that at full price, just to complete the roster. Heck, I'd do that for a genuine early A as well, we're talking first/second cruise or AIM/ACEVAL blocks and I don't mean visual reskins, I mean actual planes that handle and perform like that, but alas, that ain't happening. At least not until the heat death of the universe or the next phase transition or whatever resets our reality
