Pestering won't help the server grow faster or the features ship faster ; on the contrary. As a DCS player, I am sure you are used to wait 4 years for a features. Supporting the server however will help make it faster, better and stronger like Kanye West said.

Update Server updated to 1.5.4.56500 In Map: Open Conflict Tuapse - v3.0.3 Switch season to spring Added FARPs to Gelendzhik (not used yet) but will be "soon" to fix the missing spots Reactivate the lost destroyers for Central Battle (be careful and tell me if it's too much difficulty) Added infos about SimpleRadio Standalone in the briefing and Skynet welcome popup Fixed Kras-center airport still being red ; is now neutral

Thanks for the tip. Concerning Combined Arms, I have these roles identified in Skynet: roleDisplayNames['instructor'] = 'Game Master' -- 1 roleDisplayNames['artillery_commander'] = 'Tactical Cmdr' -- 2 roleDisplayNames['forward_observer'] = 'JTAC' -- 3 roleDisplayNames['observer'] = 'Observer' -- 4 Which one would be interesting for Open Conflict? I guess some of them would need drivable units somewhere to be interesting? Or does these slots are enough by themselves? Can you CA players give me more information about this mystery that is Combined Arms? Thanks

Request requests requests.... :)

Dont forget I am alone doing Open Conflict and I dont have the bandwith or the funds to espand the server like I would like. CrimsonGhost was nice enough to host an unofficial ts server and people are using this one. Link is in first post and everywhere ingame.
-
Its on my list but i dont have an ETA.
-
yea it was supposed to be an objective for blue to go destroy but it was too close to the conflict zone. I will fix it to not bait red players there. As for the briefing map, its just an overview as i cant really do some precise and readable with such a low resolution. thanks for the report

Friendly fire on players, on AIs, parking tanks on runways, on FARP landing pads.... and that was only two 4h sessions :) And in CA, I don't have the script tools to link these actions to the player controlling the guilty units like I have for players piloting proper aircrafts.

Hello Guys, Long time no posts.... I've been enjoying the screenshots even if I would like to see more dead F15s :P Who is doing my job when I am not there? Thanks a lot for server Ciribob ; it's appreciated.:thumbup: I will add this server information ingame as soon as I can push an update. Imposters are set to small by the server so everyone should have the same settings. It's not just an on/off thing and the value I chose and felt ok with was small after all my tests and all the conflicting requests. hehe I surely have more requests and complains than donations  or else, the server would run on quantum computers in NASA basement. I do it for the fan girlz  I think the current map is set in january and I think you can see that in the briefing, at the very very end. Did he blame the datalink? "The ground knew where I was because of the datalink and surprised me with its solidity" I think I've tried and 124Mhz didn't fit in the min/max values the F86 channels allow. I don't know why ; but the freq range of some planes are limited. I guess realism  Gelenzhick is full of helicopters and have no spots for more aircrafts. ED really needs to change the way we put playable aircrafts especially if more aircrafts do the same thing as the Gazelle with different models being different aircrafts. Can player just choose Gazelle and have a popup to ask them which models please? We also need to be able to put infinite playable aircrafts on an airport and then game assigns a parking space when you spawn (like it does on aircraft carrier). But I disgress.... Yea all airports are starting to be full and you might start to see FARPs appearing on airport grounds to free spots by moving helicopters :megalol: I am not sure. If there are other non-duel WWII planes in redfor, then I may have forgotten the Fw190. If not, I may have decided to not put WWII planes in redfor. I ll ask Mirknir from 6 month ago when I meet him. I may try to push some fixes "soon" if life allows it. Stay tuned

I just cant force everyone to run on low settings because one or two people didnt adjust their settings to a server with an heavy map and also dynamic weather. I prefer to not baby my players and trust them to choose their local settings. I want people luckier than me to run the server on ultra if they have the monster pc for it. I play solo on high and switch to medium when I enter multiplayer, no big deal.
-
Not really, not without more funds. It's a small personal free server developed "in my garage" and opened to donation since it started to grow more that I anticipated. Ideally I would buy a better machine and internet connection for a stronger server but I just don't have the money for this. But yea like ED always says.... "soon" Also, the map is a bit more heavy that the some other server's so it can also be a factor in your performance and you might wanna try to lower your settings. I know my computer would stutter like crazy if I played this map on high settings.
-
or.... I could add those Combined Arms slots and make them accessible only to people that made the effort to ask me for access. This would eliminate most trolls. This could be a alternative solution until ED adds the feature to track what people are doing in those slots but it will mostly never happened. I don't know ; I am scared of the huge and undetectable troll potential of CA.
-
I can't add CA slots as ED doesn't provide me with the script events to monitor what players are doing in these slots like I can for aircraft slots. Without ways to track, detect and ban trolls, adding CA slots is just too much of a mess. I tried once and it was a troll fest.

I can try to put some back in and see how people get wrecked. The objectives are really close so I wonder how it will fair with many people. Last time I checked, submarines had very crappy visual meshes and collision boxes. Almost unkillable and definitely more frustration than fun. Pretty sure it hasnt changed. Also, last time I checked, moving ships/subs would just be a big no no in multiplayer as they would end-up freaking out and frantically teleporting all around. I felt like a bug of dead reckoning and might have been fixed with the last netcode update. I will check and maybe put one moving ships somewhere far away in the map and see how it goes and teleports violently 2000 miles to go lag into Anapa killing everyone. Could be fun. I knew putting a prime number of max player would be better for everything ; it's a universe rule :smilewink: I am trying to keep up the good work but I also gotta feed the family

I am just trying to keep my design view of the server but it doesn't mean nothing can change. The first version of the center battle around tuapse had destructible carriers and SAM warships but it ended up being super dangerous and only some planes could even try to make a dent in these defenses. If you want group objective and hardcoreness, I can reimport these changes that never went live :)

I can definitely rotate map but I can't technically rotate export settings. Also, I always want OC to welcome every players so I won't rotate a very more hardcore map where you will have less opportunity if you wanna practice or just have fun with a less powerful aircrafts. It's a bit when A10c players are asking for crazy storm weather and I don't do it because I want helicopter to keep on flying. I know it's a choice and not everyone will agree but I want you to always have about the same opportunities when you join the server which is already difficult since some content may have been destroyed. Protected zone are here to avoid having to add 50 SAMs in an already heavy map. As long as I don't control the team balance, the server needs to protected zone ; that's as simple as that or more systems need to be created to support this. I understand your point but in actuality, when I removed the protected zones, the blue team was getting destroyed on their spawn point and why? Not because the red team did an amazing job, just because the red team had 3 time more fighters. And for me, it feels like a battle only one side know is happening :) Don't get me wrong, lifting the protected zone shield could be done but would require more work in term of notifying the opposite team of the incursion and maybe scrambling AIs if, as often, the teams are severely unbalanced. '-ag mine' exists but I think it's only for the central battle. I could add more objectives in this system but I also don't want to bait people into the enemy protected zone :-) it's ok, just use more your [enter] key ; will be easier to read :P

I didnt know the 104th had no awacs... must be the F15 kingdom :-) I won't lie, datalink is definitely an advantage and at least, I put su27/33 in both faction :) Something different on Open Conflict is also that the export is allowed. Since the beginning of the server, I've struggle with this. I want to allow replay with Tacview but not using it for a quick glance at enemy position during playtime. Even worst, some other export-based tools are, imo, almost designed for cheating. DCS export is kind of problematic in a sense that it's all or nothing. What I would like is having an export that export encrypted data and periodically send the cipher to clients, then change it and encrypt with a new cipher. This delay would be decided by the server. The cypher should be different for blue and red data and could be as simple as a temporary blue and red bulleyes. But I disgress... Right now, I can't allow the export without allowing some type of cheating. And I can't track who is using what. But Tacview is cool when you wanna learn and progress.... But Open Conflict has grown past everything I anticipated and now more advanced players are playing on it. I might try to cut the export for a while and see how it goes. What do you guys think?

Tips Some dogfight tips Disclaimers: those tips are meant to share some of my processes. They may be wrong or not optimal ; I am not a professional. I am just a guy trying to kill F15s. First, a cool video by a pro: Watch this: http://y2u.be/OCFMX5z-ed4 Before the merge: I always load more flare as I find chaff useless. Now, if for some reason, I know or anticipate a merge to happen like I was told by the datalink, RWR, a friend or the awacs, I try to prepare for it. I always try to match my numbers to my intention. Do I intend to fight? Am I to high to go hide? Did I finish my ramen /vodka? Did I kiss my wife's picture? Am I too fast to turn efficiently? What's the delta between my speed and my corner speed? Do I need a slow or accelerate? What's my loadout? Do I have bombs or external tanks to drop? Once I start dogfighting, bye bye levelled flight and thus bye bye the window to jettison stuff. Did I cut my smokes? Yep, it happened :) Do I know where I am? Where are my backup? My closest base? Do I have an escape plan? Once I merge: Usually, 4 options: Turn into the enemy and proceed with O shaped trajectories Turn away from the enemy and proceed with 8 shaped trajectories Don't turn and flee Try anything I saw in Top Gun, lose all my energy and die. How do I choose? I check my situational awareness. Do I have time to fight? Friendly reinforcements are coming? Enemy ones are? Am I near an enemy base? with SAMs? Where is the sun? Can I use it to my advantage? The merge is also the best last moment to flee. Every seconds you stay in a dogfight, your awareness drops (the datalink can really help here) and your escape windows closes. I check my numbers and try to guess the enemy's Do I have enough weapons left? Do I have enough fuel left? What's my energy like? What kind of enemy plane? (the US RWR can really help here) Am I too fast to turn efficiently? Is he too fast? Am I too heavy to turn efficiently? Does he seem to heavy? Did I see external tanks on him? I am not good enough to anticipate my trajectories and to use the sun to my advantage but... I try at least to not have the sun behind the enemy. I will be blinded and my IR missiles will go to space. If I decide to fight: I find it easier to turn and keep a line of sight when turning in the enemy (O shaped trajectories). However, when using the helmet targeter, I prefer to be in 8 shaped trajectories as I feel like the missile has more distance to travel and the enemy trajectory is easier to track, less tangent-ing. Sometimes, I will just turn where the landscape is more favorable to use/hide behind. Sometimes, I will just turn one way to just avoid the sun problem. If I have the sun behind I when merging, I will most likely have it against me if I chose O shaped trajectories but less likely not with a 8. It's hard to predict but it can mean life or death with a low setting/rising sun. To keep visual / IR lock on the bandit, I also like to keep him higher than me so he is easily noticeable over the bright sky and I am less easy to spot over a dark ground. I may do the opposite if the sky is dark and the ground white (during a snowstorm for example) I may not care above sea level. Yea, I have problem spotting stuff. Even if, after a kill, some people - Dust - will tell me it's all thanks to the DL and that an 100 monkeys throwing an 100 cats on an HOTAS could achieve the same, I actually try not to rely on the Datalink too much after a merge. The information it gives is several seconds in the past and it matters in a dogfight. Even if the information is not good enough to track my main target, it's still good for situational awareness and have a quick glance at who is approaching your area and from where. Speaking of unreliable information, the RWR is designed to work in a certain flight envelop. When doing dogfight manoeuvres, I will most likely exit this envelop and have crappy RWR reading / warning. That's part of the awareness lost I was talking about. I have to open my eyes a bit more. From the top of my head, this is about the just of it. I am not sure how good are these tips but it's how I try to kill stuff and stay alive. I hope this can help people kill F15s

yea i wish i could exclude some planes from awacs report :( you can also confronté the awacs report with -aa report and see what AI is near

I guess I'll keep my tips to myself :music_whistling: and let you drown in your loud acceptation of defeat  I guess we can mess with Texas *Let see if this will shock Dust back to life*

If you want, I ll try to post some dogfight tips I use to help you merge and kill or merge and survive.

Even if the l39 or f5 have less cup and bottle holders than the su27, your small puny size allow you to turn on a dime and disappear from sight. Use that.

Sorry, I dont wanna break the integrity check. We are going to wait for ED to fix their stuff

This post has been hacked Hello humans, I feel obligated to hijack Mirknir account to defend my creator. Thanks for the pictures guys. Liking them. Doodenkoff, did you spread you love for the L39 to Dust? Is this how it happened? Anyways, this map seems pretty cool ; I should try it again someday. :megalol: Last time I tried, I was trash-talked in chat and then attacked by 2 maniacs that should remain unnamed. I still have nightmare... (I hope you appreciate my discretion Dust and Darksword)
