Nevada Guns Only (vs F-16C) - Advice Needed
ClearDark replied to ClearDark's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That did it! The steady 15-17 AOA does the trick, managed to score my first kill on him. Awesome stuff! I'm wondering, how did you get the enemy planes to show up that big in VR? Mine look alot "smaller", using HTC Vive -
Nevada Guns Only (vs F-16C) - Advice Needed
ClearDark replied to ClearDark's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'd like a track or TacView of anyone who tackles that F-16 "easily"...Using all the BFM i've learned in the past years and there's nothing I can do to get him in front of me for a shot before his fuel runs out. -
So far loving the F-14, its an amazing module. I've been doing the instant mission for Gunzo dogfight vs the F-16, and for the life of me I cannot get this thing infront of me to get a clean shot. Now I do know that in a pure turn and burn fight, the F-16's 9g's can ridicule the F-14's 6.5g's, but I'm sure I'm probably fighting this entirely wrong. Any suggestions on how to defeat a better/tighter turner in a knife fight? Much help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The way it works now is the closest you can get to how the HUD works in real life. The insta-updated HUD, while nice to have, is not realistic in any way. If it bothers you, get used to it.

DCS used by Real World F-18 pilot Carrier Ops Instructional vid
ClearDark replied to JIMJAM's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Just put curves on the throttle axis, can negate this issue until fixed by code -
Here's a quick video I just took doing the Persian Gulf instant action mission (Aerial Refueling) I've included the input indicators along the video, looking back at it, staying on the tanker requires alot of subtle work. I missed the first contact by an inch, didn't stress, slowed down a bit and made a clean contact a few seconds later. Hope this helps some :)
-
ED, hire this guy for all your manual work. Superb as usual.
-
Thanks for the answer. I didn't raise the question up for ED to fix, I posted this to see if there is any VR settings I might be "slipping" out and missing out some detail because I do see some folks in VR (like yourself) having no issues with seeing the ball.

VR Zoom works, but really disorienting at in close.

Hey guys, first, I'd like to thank ED for an amazing module. Been waiting for ages, can't believe its finally here. On to the topic, I'm running DCS with the HTC VIVE, I tried PD 1.5 -> 2.0, but alas, I cannot spot the ball on the carrier in due time. Usually, its way to late about 150-200 ft before the trap. Has anyone found a solution for this? Am I missing something? I manage to trap without a problem however I keep flying below the glideslope. I'm trying to improve my traps flying the ball but I cannot see it, or well, I can see a mash of green/yellow lights, but very hard to tell the position of the ball once orange. Please advise, Thank you.

I find AAR has two basic rules you MUST adhere to in order to be successfull 1. Focus on the tanker, don't look at the basket, the hose, the chute, nothing, focus on the tanker and tanker only. 2. Walk your throttle, settle in nicely with gentle throttle walk, after initial connection, slide in 10-20 feet and just keep level, always play with the throttle, always keep an eye on the tanker. If i break any of these, I won't be refueling.

By doing this you are violating the ED TOS, I'd be very careful if I were you :)

DCS 2.0 and NTTR Alpha... is it free for now?
ClearDark replied to JazonXD's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Back in the day, the A-10C was shipped with NTTR map, but it was half assed and got pulled off on the next update. If you got your copy in that period of time, you would get NTTR for free (I did). And holy shit, the wait was worth it. -
Caved in...can't wait to fly this baby.

As promised, just bought a 2nd key as a thank you!

A noble act indeed but why posting an entire thread about it? -
You are absolutely right about the Earth argument however proving that requires alot of work. This guy is arguing with YOU, the developer who CODED this amazing flight model (and amazing bird in general), after you said it's there, it should of been stopped.. Sometimes I just don't get it, but while we're on it, Thank you so much for this amazing module and all the hard work you are putting into bringing us the most realistic flight experience on the PC.

Original KS backer but different email address
ClearDark replied to ClearDark's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Thanks, will be taken care of! :) -
Hello, Back when DCS WWII started I backed the project on Kickstarter (I think it was the $20 package). The email I used for Kickstarter is different than the email I used to register on the ED website. Trying to collect my backer rewards I get "No backers with the email <xxx@xxx.xxx> was found" Any way to rectify this? Thanks CD

A quick glance at your 'Recent Posts' page shows you do nothing but complain on these forums. Next......

I put $50 you get a red plus sign soon, your obsession with the prop wash thing (and the fact it is modeled yet you continue trolling about it) is over the line.

HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C
ClearDark replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
So, it looks like alot of modules are coming out recently and more to come in the near future. I'll be straight up here, since Gadroc switched Helios licensing to free, it somewhat killed my passion to continue working on HawgTouch, coupled with tons of real life things to take care of and a long break I took from DCS all led to this project being on the verge of abandonment. I've attempted several times to return full swing into action developing HawgTouch and providing support and new content for the recently released modules. I've actually gone quite far with the Huey and P-51 but couldn't muster the inner-strength to finish these. Drawing gauges is a tedious work and requires alot of attention to small details However, seeing as Helios only supports A-10/Ka-50, my hunger is coming back to provide this wonderful community with newly created gauges and support for ALL of the current modules. Apart from being engaged, I see a great opportunity for HawgTouch to be the go to software for anyone with pit building aspirations. Recent changes with the way Microsoft is distributing their tools has allowed anyone who is capable of, to download their Express studio and experiment with vector graphics (which is what I used to draw the HawgTouch gauges). Now here's what I'm thinking...Alone, there is no way I could do all this work, I simply have too much on my hands, however, if some people here volunteer to help me with this, we can do something wonderful. Of course, anyone who is volunteering to help with be credited and I'll personally give you a step by step instruction (either on Skype, TeamSpeak or any software of your choice) on how to get started and what needs to be done. So this is why I'm posting this, if anyone is willing to step up to the plate, I say let's do it! That way we'll have not only A-10 and Ka-50 support but also Huey, Dora, Mustang, Sabre and all the rest of them! Looking forward to hearing from you guys :) -
Make sure that when you pull back on the stick, it doesn't have a left or right tendency (a very subtle one can tip a wing either way and there goes a fireball :D)

HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C
ClearDark replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Currently there are no Dora gauges available for HawgTouch, they can be made by anyone, or if I'll get some spare time I'll maybe work them myself. I'll keep y'all posted :) I still have to finish the P51/Huey set ;o
