  1. I think both types of campaigns have their benefits. Hand crafted campaign missions are usually well built and challenging. On the other hand they are repetitive, once i've finished a mission I usually have no interest in flying it again. Also if it's a really tough one, I don't like having to re-fly it over and over again until I succeed....especially if it's beacuse there was one vehicle left I couldn't kill beacuse I ran out of ammo. :) Also other then each vehicle thats specifically placed the world is often completly empty. There usually is no "front line" that you have to cross to get to the target. Overall I find most non-dynamic campaign missions I feel like I'm flying in a barren world until I get to the target. I'd love to get shot at 1/2 way to the target. :) Dynamic campaigns are good because you never know whats going to happen in the mission, and it's always different. The F4 dynamic campaign is by far the best I've ever seen ( I honestly can't imagine why anybody would dislike it). You can be on a CAP mission and nothing happens, or all hell can break loose. I find the not knowing the most exciting part. You have a brief and a rough idea what to expect and that's about it. Don't get me wrong, I love BS and am enjoying the first campaign. This sim is long overdue and I'll be playing it for years to come. I can't wait to see what DCS comes up with next!
  2. Something weird is happening. It seems like every time I eject now, even though I land safely it counts as a death in my log book. Is that supposed to happen?
  3. You guys have done some cool stuff... I still don't really know how to do it myself. I'd need a video tutorial or something. :)
  4. I seem to be having trouble getting past the "Dusk" mission. There are so many targets to kill and and my wingman seems to always get himself shot down anytime I ask him to engage anything, even after I take out the major threats I can see. I get blown out of the sky by AT-5's of all things, no warning they are coming other then if i just happen to see them. I can't seem to kill anything with rockets. It gets dark before I can fly all the way back to base to re-arm / refuel. Whats the best strategy?
  5. 130 km/h...good to know, thanks. :)
  6. Dang it... Was trying for the 3rd time to get past the campaign mission "Dusk" when I was blown out of the sky by an AT-5. The cool part was I saw it flying towards me on the shkval. I immediately tried to evade but a fraction of a second later I was vaporized. I was reading that the AT-5 is laser guided, but I had to warning other then just happening to see it on camera...no smoke or anything. Anybody else fall victim to this weapon? :(
  7. Thanks for the response graywo1fg, I suspected it was something like that although I didn't know the name for it. At least I managed to get myself out of it 1/2 the time. I'm still too used to fixed wing aircraft. I've heard a saying that helicopters don't really fly, they're just so ugly the Earth repels them! :) I am kidding of course, hehe
  8. I also am using vista 32 with about a 10-20 fps gain using affinity trick. Is there a way to permanently set the affinity to 2 cores without having to download 3rd party software?
  9. I've had three crashes so far when I enter a hover. it's like the blades stall, the heli starts to shake, and I start dropping like a rock, even at full power. The only way to get out if it is to push the nose forward and pick up some significant forward speed... the shaking stops and I resume to normal flight. Not to sure exactly why it's happening.
  10. Hi, I've had a few missions where I have to kill some infantry. I've never seen infantry move, they just stand in the open and wait to be picked off one by one. I saw a post on the forum where a guy said the infantry were running for cover in the forest. Anybody else ever seen infantry move? I have my settings to full realism.
  11. X52 is what I use.... I've never had much luck with CH products. The cougar looks cool but I remember a few years ago it had some serious defects with it... People had to replace gimbles right out of the box. Not to sure if they've fixed that issue yet.
  12. Finally made it over the pass...had to keep the speed up to around 150-200 on approach to the ridge.
  13. Hi, I'm on the campaign mission "On the other side". Just before the ingress point you have to cross a high mountain range (approx 11000'). I can not pass over this mountain range no matter how many times I try. The heli will not climb high enough, and as soon as I get close to the peak the engine suddenly dies every time. I have an ekron rotor ice warning...so i turn on rotor anti-ice. Engine still dies. I have gone up and down the mountain range looking for a point I can cross, with no luck... Any ideas why I can't get over this mountain range????
  14. I second Shadylurker's opinion! :)
  15. you press and hold the "lock" key again, and it will allow you to slew. Took me awhile to figure that one out. If there is another way, i'm not sure.
