Samsung Odyssey has about 77% more "pixels" than Oclus rift or HTC Vive. 1440*1600*2 = 4608000 vs 1080*1200*2=2592000 This is bigger improvement than going from DK2 to CV1 (DK2 had 960*1080*2=2073600 "pixels") I say "pixels" because DK2, CV1, Vive and probably Odyssey don't have three subpixels (RGB), as any decent screen should, instead they sell you a screen with half red and blue sub pixels missing. https://www.oled-info.com/pentile They way they solve missing sub pixels is simple, they just use the neighboring subpixel. This works okay when you hold a phone in your hand, but when you put on in vr headset, you see quite bad screen door effect (sub pixels that should turn on are simply not there). Still, sheer resolution increase will probably make this look like next gen compared to cv1 and vive, hope that they can sort out tracking properly. This headset is not much closer to solving screen door effect properly (unless it's an RGB screen), since those blue and red sub pixels are often needed.

I'd like to know also if Windows Mixed Reality is supported, hopefully it might work with Steam VR.

Force Feedback - Which device(s) do you use?
dot replied to Flagrum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I currently own 5 working MS Sidewinders ff2, TM Cougar (to mod with sidewinder base), Logitech G940 and Logitech Wingman Force 3D :) Hopefully this should keep me from flying with a spring joystick until someone decides to end the force feedback dark ages and makes a modern version of FF flight stick :) -
This is still an issue with version 1.5.4.55952 I've tried with Microsoft Sidewinder FF2 and Logitech G940. US aircraft just have spring feedback, (I can turn it of in options/misc/). Any advice on how to get other FF effects working with US aircrafts? Force Feedback in Russian aircraft's and TF 51D seems to work fine.

It's the same resolution as Rift or Vive, so having RGB screen (2x blue and red subpixels) means that you get better image quality for the same performance.

preordered, although It better have RGB screens for this money! in UK price is £399, in EU I've heard it's €499!

I'm asking about warthog sticks (if you read).
-
I'm also considering buying a new Warthog, and selling the base. Would anyone be interested in brand new Warthog base for £99?

Post MotherBoard Specs Of Bricked TM Warthogs Here Please

If anyone is interested in selling their faulty Warthog (or Cougar), please send me a PM. I'm also looking for stick only. -
Hm, I've only seen some pics of warthog gimbals (and no price). Anyone has more info on sticks?
-
Hi, I thought I'd ask before reading +100 pages :) is there a link with more info on the sticks? Are they metal or plastic, how much do they cost (I've read somewhere $120)? What is the ETA?
-
Hi, As per title I'm looking for a metal joystick for my DIY project, also interested in stick only (without base). I'm located in UK, please send sensible offers via PM.

ATW does help, but really you need to be at 90 min FPS for smooth experience. With ATW I get double vision and ghosting so it's not a magic bullet.
-
I hope so, if ATW is supported on game on steam, then it should (fingers crossed) work with HDK2. @Simon1279, I'm just happy someone is pushing the envelope with PC VR. Pentile screens work horrible in VR (IMHO) so RGB screen is a nice improvement. Although I'd much rather prefer higher res single screen (2560x1440) P.S. even if ATW doesn't work I'd much rather have better display on VR HMD and upgrade my PC as needed. (we probably won't see Oculus or Vive CV2 for at least a year)

Moar subpixels is better, no? The reason why image looks better on pc monitor is because you are looking at the screen at a smaller fov (15-20 deg), or if you are taling about phones, it's about 2-5 deg FOV if you hold the phone at 1m away. In VR, that FOV is stretched to 100deg (4-5X compared to pc monitor) which means every pixel (and it's subpixels) are 4-5X bigger...
-
If it's pentile it will be the same as Vive/CV1, but if it's RGB then you'll have TWICE as many red and blue subpixels. I think this will make a big difference, but I'll let you know once I have HDK2 in hand...

Awesome work! :joystick::thumbup: My Logitech G940 and MS SWFF2 are still going strong, but there are no news about FF joysticks so I might have to go diy as well. I'd be interested in using two DC motors, without springs (two motors should be able to simulate spring quite well). I wonder if anyone tried making a FF joystick using using two FF racing wheels?
