DCS is a special story.. The problem is that current DCS engine is not optimised for VR and I have a feeling that even hypothetical GTX 1080ti would struggle to maintain 90FPS above cities (without timewarp). How they choose to address this performance bottleneck is up to them, but luckily some people (amd, nvidia) have already made some work on this so hopefully DCS devs will find some time to implement DX12 improvements into their engine... bdw, which GPU do you currently have?

Yeah, this would probably motivate me to move to windows 10, but only if both my force feedback joysticks work fine (MS SideWinder FF2 and Logitech G940 :) I can see the Single pass stereo as one of best features for VR: Single Pass Stereo VR requires stereo rendering, which requires submitting and tessellating the geometry in the scene twice which is expensive. Simultaneous projection solves this by allowing input to be shared between render targets. The GPU takes the geometry, processes it once, then adds an X-axis offset to provide the correct perspective for other eye. This means the tessellation and vertex shading work is only processed once, reducing the GPU’s geometry workload by half. https://developer.nvidia.com/introducing-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080

Yes, but I'm talking about VR performance...

Apparently it's 3X faster than GTX 980 in VR due to architectural improvements: http://wccftech.com/nvidia-gtx-1080-detailed/ I'm happy with this, might be able to get 980 and 980ti quite cheaply soon :) No one even mentiones poor GTX 970 any more :D
  5. 1080 looks very very good! http://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-gtx-1080/ http://www.geforce.co.uk/whats-new/articles/geforce-gtx-1080

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/05/nvidia-gtx-1080-1070-pascal-specs-pricing-revealed/ 980ti owners are probably crying now :D GTX Titan X and GTX 980 Ti, retail for $1000 (£800) and $650 (£550) respectively. In the case of the GTX 1080, Nvidia claims it's twice as fast as the Titan X in certain VR applications and three times as energy efficient—it even says it's faster than dual-SLI 980 setup.
  7. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/chuckw/2015/08/05/where-is-the-directx-sdk-2015-edition/ "There is something called the DirectX 12 SDK which was used as a beta vehicle for the development of DirectX 12 through the Early Access Program. Now that the Windows 10 SDK is final, you don’t need access to the DirectX 12 SDK at all."
  8. Found this on oculus forum :D [ame]https://i.imgur.com/C5ICtrv.webm[/ame]
  9. I think that this would be an awesome time to bring out a 2560x1440RGB 75 or hopefully 90 hz screen for DK2. This has happened for DK1 previously:
  10. I've preordererd mine 7 minutes after preorders went live and I got estimate delivery date May 2 to May 12th... I'm looking at kiskstarter bunch who got their devkits for free
  11. A bit bulky, but seems like a way to have more of tracked walking space: http://www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/2262-intel-jetpack-wireless-virtual-reality-and-vive
  12. You can always return the unit, or sell it if you are not happy with it. P.S. I mean you can return it within 30 days.
  13. I'm really hoping for 2560x1440 rgb screen upgrade for DK2.
  14. diffuser vs no diffuser on dk2 is probably similar to when 3dfx 3d accelerators first came out. All it does is blurs the pixels slightly so you can't notice the black bar between pixels. To see more clearly (stuff between pixels) , higher resolution screen (with more pixels) is needed. P.S. I've just noticed that this image also demonstrates another interesting feature; lighting effects! Just like on this picture, people have reported that Fresnel lenses on Rift and Vive produce "god rays" effect:D [ame] [/ame]
  15. I would be very interested to try this! Do they need beta testers? :) Shame about DK2 Mipi chip, I wonder if the chip could be hacked/ overclocked so that it can push 2560x1440 @75 hz I'd be happy to put a cooler on it :) Possibly cheaper option might be a 2560x1440 rgb oled screen, with DK2 Mipi DSI chip tweaked to project to 2100*1200 square on the screen so it's the same resolution as CV1. It would not use the whole screen, but rgb screen would probably make quite an improvement over the pentile screen. 75hz is minimum in my opinion, 60hz is probably not worth it.
  16. Sure, but I'm also waiting for more info, or someone with more disposable income :) From the description it seems to have the same spec as Gear VR, 2560x1440 @ 60hz 60 hz is quite bad thb...
  17. I've found these " 60HZ 5.5 inch 1440p wqhd 2560x1440 vr display with hdmi to mipi driver board for oculus rift 2 VR DIY" on aliexpress. If it can be overclocked to 75hz I might be interested in trying this: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-60HZ-5-5-inch-1440p-wqhd-2560x1440-vr-display-with-hdmi-to-mipi-driver/32494344788.html http://www.aliexpress.com/item/HDMI-display-wqhd-6-inch-1440p-2560x1440-with-hdmi-to-mipi-driver-board-for-oculus-rift/32600991659.html http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-wqhd-vr-2560-1440-diy-screen-with-hdmi-to-mipi-driver-boridge-60HZ-for/32496390608.html http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-60HZ-vr-hdmi1440p-tft-lcd-screen-with-hdmi-to-mipi-driver-board-for-oculus/32498376383.html
  18. They're making good sounds :), just have to sit back and wait. I've tried a few games and apps (mostly free) from oculus home store and they all work fine on DK2. Lucky's tale seems to work really well with DK2. Not sure if it's free for all or just for those who preordered CV1
  19. "First set of Rifts are going out slower than we orig estimated, so we're giving free shipping for all pre-orders, including international. " I wonder if this is because of free rifts for kicksterter backers...

  21. Yeah, it sounded too good to be true...
  22. Where can you buy a 2560x1440, 250$ upgrade screen for DK2? Is it also 75 hz?
  23. R9 290 after two days of tweaking: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/11442539 http://postimg.org/image/gst1mzlef/ Not bad for $200 card from ebay
  24. Is this a good place to post steam VR test results? http://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/ I got 8.3 R9 290 oc 1170 mem 1400
  25. Probably some engine optimisations are needed. [ame] [/ame]
