Can someone inform me of their settings for similar setup as below. Wanting settings that are tried out and give best smoothest performance. In game and within Nvidia Control Panel. ? My attached current settings have been using for several years...notice Nvidia settings have some extra parameters in Manage 3D Settings. Want settings you have probably sat on for sometime as you feel they are best ? Have maxed out in game settings which in general I have done and the game plays well. Am slowly accumulating all the bits and pieces I need to build my next PC. Just need some information regards BIOS update and BIOS battery replacement. Want to replace the BIOS battery as this MOBO has been sitting on shelf for about 9 months or so. and most MOBO makers provide cheap CR2032 3VOLT BIOS battery. Want to replace it with good quality Seiko, Maxell battery. I know they last a long time especially when one does not power off PC often, Getting to battery is somewhat tedious as requires removal of Graphic card and other PCI slot cards as battery sits under a heat sink plate. So before I put those other cards into PC want to replace with brand new one with full charge and should last long time. QUESTION 1. Can I simply remove the battery now with the MOBO still brand new and not installed or powered at all?? without messing up the BIOS. My understanding is removal of the battery will simply reset the BIOS to default settings which is what it will be anyway before battery change; as BIOS has not been user configured. Is it safe to do this. QUESTION 2. Once the PC is put together as in MOBO, CPU (NO ONBOARD GRAPHICS WITH CPU), RAM, GPU and PSU and Monitor so I can access the BIOS screen I will then update the BIOS to the latest version. Is it a good idea to update the BIOS before install of Windows10/64bit? QUESTION 3. My new PC will have: G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz 16-16-16-36 RAM, MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION MOBO, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core AM4 Processor, MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Duke OC 11GB GPU, W10-64bit OS on Samsung 970 Pro Series 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD and DCS on another Samsung 970 Pro Series 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD…….question is does anybody have a similar setup and which Nvidia graphic driver are they using which is stable…Any ideas what is the best driver for me??

Thanks Bitmaster. Have purchased the: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRESTIGE-X570-CREATION and down track will buy the https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-9-3900x to go with it. With RAM 32GB, 3600MHz is available as either 4x 8GB or 2x 16GB and am wondering are they any advantages/disadvantages as to which configuration? 2x 16GB may have the advantage of more air space in/around the RAM strips so is cooler...can radiate heat off better.

Threadripper CPU are impressive but prices are just over the moon for me. I could build a gutsy enough PC for just the price of the basic Threadripper. Have been thinking on what to get. What do you think of MSI MOBOs? The other possibility is the same CPU but with: https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/ROG-Strix-X570-F-Gaming/specifications/ this MOBO is standard ATX but like the idea of 8x SATA, also 5x PCI/e ports and generous USB ports. This board is also quite a bit cheaper than the MSI. I looked at the Gigabyte suggestions but none had sufficient PCI/e ports. The CPU is known to run hot though is not recommended to need water cooling. I am a retired electronics engineer; and just see water and electricity as a no no. I could always buy an upgrade fan/cooler. The Firewire card is old technology but needs no software for card and at other end is a very expensive Focusrite audio interface for recording studio work. Too expensive to discard and great for someone like me who loves audiophile sound that sounds analogue. I will leave the RAM for now and get the CPU, MOBO then think on what RAM? I have used Kingston for years and like ASUS find them durable and performing. Never had a failure. But am also not knowledgeable about recent RAM. What RAM would you put with the rigs I am mentioning here? Meaning fast 3600 32GB RAM. I play single player mostly but am planning to go Multiplayer sometime. Is 32GB enough if one has a busy created mission or multiplayer? i put my page file on my old Samsung 850Pro set to 32GB. Thanks…gArY.

Thx for info Bitmaster. Looks like I need to clarify my needs a bit better. I find the sheer quantity of hardware options a tad overwhelming. Many combinations and many products. I do lack good info about the latest performance hardware components. Current PC put together in 2013. With new MOBO, CPU & RAM the following are my considerations/needs and things I do not want too. * Will install W10-64bit Pro on Samsung SSD 2.5” SATA for OS. Not M2 SSD. But want board that is capable of using 2x M2 as I will probably go to this in future. * Will keep my current PC case as is very large and easy to get into. Is a Thermaltake ArmorTT eATX case and do not want $ of another case. Purchased case 2010 and assume it is not a SSI-EEB compatible case. So want eATX board not needing a SSI-EEB compatible case. * Do not want a dual PSU setup. So board will need to work fine with 1000W PSU I already have with good headroom. Current PSU is a Coolmaster Silent Pro M2 1000W and have a new Seasonic 1000W put away. *Attached pic showing components I will install into the PCIe slots. I have a firewire card at very top above GPU (very small and hard to see), under that my GPU which is only thing requiring a 16x PCIe slot. Is a MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Duke OC 11GB. Below GPU is a USB3.0 card and at very bottom my Asus soundcard. 4 items total. *With MOBO I buy I need all of these to go into it but 2nd PCIe 16x needs to be unused so as not to suck bandwidth from the main one needed by the GPU. That means I would need 5x PCI ports total. If that is not possible, will just use the MOBO USB3.1 ports (want as many as is possible) and discard the current USB 3.0 PCI card. *Want to install 32GB of RAM, but into a MOBO that at a future date will accommodate 64GB of RAM or more. *Would want a AMD Threadripper based CPU but have no idea about which one? I assume the more cores the greater the $. Maybe one of the Threadripper 3000 series mentioned. *My budget for MOBO, CPU and RAM is $1500 US dollars max. If necessary I can go a little higher. Am looking for good value for my $. Usually I go for what was the top of the range 12 to 18 months ago as PC products can fall a lot in price when they fall from being the latest and greatest. With Corona virus induced economic recession coming prices will fall even further. About 2 months from now will be a good time to buy. Current system is: **running w7/64 and using a MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Duke OC 11GB, 16GB RAM Kingston Hyper X Genesis-DDR3L-1600 on Asus Z87C MOBO, CPU is i7 4770, no overclocking, OS on an Intel SSD and DCS on dedicated Samsung 860Pro. Want to upgrade MOBO, CPU, RAM....AMD CPU, 32GB RAM & ASUS MOBO are what I want. Will be installed with W10/64bit Professional. Particularly wanting advice about which MOBO. Needs to be Asus, durable, with emphasis on performance not on added hardware features which I would not use. For example I would not need to pay for a MOBO with high end onboard sound card. I use Asus's top end PCIe sound card in current PC which is new, as I get into lot of audiophile listening music. MOBO must have: lots of USB3.1 ports, 6 or more PCI-E slots, with as many PCI-E x16 as possible. At least one or two M2 slots as well needed. Case is eATX large size so a eATX MOBO is the form factor I want. This factor will thin out the number of choices possible and my choice of ASUS. Am assuming the ROG range by Asus are the most gutsy performers? True/false? Attached is a pic showing list of possible choices with eATX MOBO made by ASUS. My understanding is AMD CPUs are the top end nowadays?? so would look for not the most expensive but something that is like top end but not the max priced product here. Any experience opinions welcome...Gary

Problem Still Exists DCS Openbeta 2.5.6.44266 With last update as per title this bug still exists. Is a bug that can only be fixed by DCS...not really something the user can fix. For me is only an issue when exiting F14 missions. Just need to wait till DCS sort it out...Gary

This problem for me happens with F14 tomcat but not with F18 hornet. Usually when exit F14 instant action mission

yep is a bug that came with 2.5.6 update...this is a huge update with lots of changes so is understandable lots of bugs will come with it. happens with every exit of instant action game play. I play F14 so noticed it when exit game play.

Hi I think this is just a new bug that needs sorting out down track ... like u after update to 2.5.6 Cage/Seam appears to not be functioning. Light on cockpit dashboard illuminates but no function. PLM still works though where Sidewinder head will slave to the radar pulse put out by PLM. Just have to wait for a fix.

With SW missile I understand how use the SEAM LOCK mode so missile head will track target off the ADL. But cannot work out how to use PLM for single target tracking of target aircraft/missile so my SW is slaved to the radar to locate the enemy aircraft. Have made binding to my Thrustmaster throttle for both. I put the ADL crosshairs on target, select PLM and sometimes a diamond appears but at other times not. 1. What are the exact steps/conditions so PLM once selected works with diamond appearing ?? 2. When I select PLM I can hear the sound of a switch clicking within cockpit yet have never been able to find appropriate button that does this inside the cockpit....where is this switch?? 3. Does selecting PLM twice enable, disable PLM so one can cycle between enable/disable PLM? 4. Is there a visual way of knowing it is enabled such as say a cockpit light or similar? Thanks Gary

The Samsung 850Pro comes with a 10year warranty and the Samsung 860Pro comes with a 5 year warranty. The change in warranty period is a business decision by Samsung, and does not reflect that the 860Pro is less durable/reliable. For reliability/durability they are equals. Gary

The replacement larger capacity SSD I will be purchasing shortly will be a Samsung SSD 860 PRO 2.5"- SATA III 512GB - MZ-76P512BW. The Samsung SSDs are great - durable and fast. Bitmaster replied via personal email with following information: Hey Gary, Nothing needs to be edited if you keep the same drive letter. All your shortcuts will continue to work. You can keep that drive in the system unless you have other plans. It could be used as a dedicated swap file drive with 32GB fixed size and the rest of the drive could be used to store your files or programs. There is no technical need to take it out. All motherboards have at least 4 ports at least, maybe more. All you would need is a Sata cable and a free 12v power connector. Write me if you need further instructions Lars “Bitmaster”

As I will be using the same drive letter for the new bigger capacity SSD, would than mean that I would have No need to update the shortcuts to the new directory location?? The shortcuts I use to launch, update or repair DCS World. To the best of my knowledge as the new drive will have the same drive letter as the old SSD (which I will remove from PC) there should be no need to update the directory target paths of the current shortcuts. This is the part of the change I am a little unsure about. Thanks for your help...Gary

INFORMATION: Currently DCS World is installed on dedicated Samsung 256GB SSD; which is not my C drive. As DCS plan to release in future more aircraft modules and maps this drive will eventually not be big enough in capacity. I plan to purchase a Samsung 512GB SSD and then copy my current DCS World installation onto this larger capacity SSD. QUESTION: Can you tell me is this possible to do; and will DCS World still run without issue on the replacement higher capacity SSD?? I will use the same Computer drive letter so that my current Desktop shortcuts to either update or launch DCS World still work...Is this correct Need help about How to do this correctly. Thankyou CommanderRabb, IronMike, Sirius for the help in understanding this issue. Implementing your advice has helped but I must say the INS/gyro still sits right on the edge of getting damage at high Gs. Occassionally the INS/gyro will glitch out briefly but not enough to break it so am certainly on the edge of things there. Hope you all have a fun Christmas...Gary
