  1. radjary, you are one of the lucky ones. I just returned my 4k tv for a 2k monitor and its barely hanging on. Not sure what I am not doing that everyone else is that is making it work for them...
  2. toutenglisse already took the 4k tv back and got a 32" 2k monitor. But will try your suggestion.
  3. BitMaster, you were right. Card throttle at 80C and even turning up the card fan and 2 computer fans couldnt keep it below. Would run at 82C the minute I started seeing trees. Come to the conclusion that even with my comp specs and the stock 1080 it just isnt quite enough to push 4k... Will give it another go when I get around to getting either a 1080TI or if they release something newer before I get it.
  4. Gotcha on V-sync at 60 fps, for me it always seemed smoother that the higher fps with no V-sync. Ill try cranking up the cooling fan settings and see if it brings it under 80 deg. In fact now that you mention it, when i was testing and monitoring, at 100% GPU usage, temp was at a solid 82-82 degrees.
  5. Alienware Adrenaline is set to High Performance...Put MSAA settings to 4x, 2x and off. No changes at all. Even overclocked card by 10% and no changes. GPU usage goes to 100% now, GPU memory load 100%. Could you post your Nvidia settings?
  6. Never logged into Xbox app, so couldnt get to settings. Logged in and DVR was on. Turned off then deleted app. No changes.
  7. @Bitmaster, will delete Xbox app and report @Aceviper, could you do me a favor and post your Nvidia control panel settings? I will double check Alienware fusion settings but I'm pretty sure I had it set to performance. It's got to be a setting somewhere, I tried again to lower the gfx settings and it just didn't make a difference at all. Same CPU and GPU usage even with all settings on low. I'm wondering if I get a 1080ti if it would help but I have a feeling it is something I can fix without a new card.

  9. A Sharp 43" 4k, it has 2 HDMI ports at 4k@60hz and 2 at 4k@30hz.
  10. Im using the following settings Textures-High Terrain Textures-High Civ. Traffic-High Water-Low Visib Range-High Heat Blur-Off Shadows-Flat Only Resolution-3840x2160 Aspect Ratio-1.7777777777778 Monitors-1 Screen Cockpit Displays-1024 MSAA-8x Depth of Field-off Lens Effects-None HDR-Off Clutter/Grass-1500 Trees Visibility-14910 Preload Radius-86500 Anistropic Filtering 16x Terrain Objects Shadows-Default Disable Aero Interface unchecked V-sync checked Full Screen checked So I used the alienware adrenalin software to see what my GPU was doing and as soon as I took off from Nellis I headed toward the strip. As soon as it was all houses the FPS dropped to 45 and was stuttering badly. At Nellis, CPU was at 30% and GPU was at 90%. Once over the houses CPU stayed at 30% and GPU was pushing at 100%. Flying the Mirage against an F-15 out over the desert was solid 60 FPS. I wish I could push it 4k everywhere, DCS especially NTTR looks friggin awesome, I saw details I just didnt see at 1080p. I changed display settings and DCS 2.0 back to 1920x1080 and checked again. CPU still at 30% and GPU was doing 50-60%. FPS was as always a solid 60 no matter where I flew.
  11. Its pretty crazy. In DCS 2.0 I dropped textures, terrain textures and visibility to low and it did not bring up the fps at all flying toward the strip from Nellis, as soon as I get over house and it fills the screen the fps drops. DCS 1.5 is bad, even low over water. I only get 60 fps in 1.5 when im at 5,000ft over ocean. Other than that its 45 fps or less. Im starting to wonder if maybe my HDMI cable cant handle the bandwidth...gonna get a new cable before I take the tv back.
  12. Do you have V-sync enabled? Are you getting 60 fps or better? I just bit the bullet and bought a 43" 4k tv. It looks great in 4k res in DCS 2.0 but the minute I get away from Nellis over the city I start dropping to 40-45 fps. I even started dropping the settings down and it didnt help. If I go back to 1080p I get 60 fps all day long, especially in 2.0.
  13. Sorry to keep posting here about performance but im trying to eek out every last bit I can out of this machine. My specs are in my signature. If anyone uses one of these, do you also use AlienAdrenaline Accelerator? Its supposed to turn off un-needed background processes. I enabled my and it seemed to speed up the loading time of DCS substantially. I didnt time it but I was pretty surprised it opened that fast. Only problem is that since I am basically creating a script with it to open up DCS and when I use it, Trackir doesnt see DCS loaded so it stops working. Obviously thats not acceptable so I stopped using it. Can anyone think of a solution to get Trackir to know that DCS is opened and start working? In the mean-time I read an article online about turning off background process and app refreshing to speed up Win10, so I went through everything and disabled alot of things. The machine seems pretty quick but I cant tell if everything I disabled is making a real difference, especially in DCS. Any help is appreciated!
  14. I already have an 512gb SSD that only has Win10, DCS 1.5/2.0, Trackir5 and TeamSpeak3 on it and a 1tb HD for storage. My computer is only used for DCS as I do everything else on a Mac Pro. So comp is pretty clean and lean.
  15. I have my GTX 1080 pushing 2 displays and fly DCS in single monitor only. Roughly how much fps am I losing by pushing the 2nd display? I read that it's supposedly negligible but would like to know a number regardless. I mean it still has to draw that display and whatever is on it even if it's not graphic intensive so there has to be some kind of performance hit. If I installed a second gtx 1080 what would be the performance improvement by connecting the second non DCS display to it. Either that or running in SLI? What about a lesser video card for 2nd display? Could I even run a 1080 and a 1060 together? My i7-6700k is really just coasting along at 4.4ghz overclock so with a second card I don't think it would have any issue giving instructions to the second 1080, not sure though. If I were to install a second SSD and run DCS on the SSD without the system would I get a performance increase? Again CPU is just coasting so should be able to handle the extra read/writes... Just looking for a way to get a few percent here and there.
  16. Hey all, I want to get a 4K tv to run DCS and was wondering if the increased resolution would drop my fps below 60. Right now I'm running a 32" tv at 1080p and a 27" display at 1080p but only using DCS on tv in single screen. I'm a bit concerned since I still can't crank everything up to max with current system, but with most setting on medium to high I get a solid 60 pretty much everywhere. My specs are: Alienware Aurora R5 liquid cooled, i7-6700k 4.0ghz overclocked to 4.4ghz(showing 4.36ghz in task manager), GTX1080 FE, 512gb SSD PCI-E drive, 32gb of 2133mhz ram. Using a DVI to HDMI converter cable and an HDMI to HDMI cable.
  17. Ah yes Pedro, end of story it is!!! The elusive AA kill in the Gazelle. I was so mad at myself watching my SL Maverick knock down fighters left and right every other day while I spent 20 something hours hunting elusive prey. Finally got my first kill in, then it got easier from there but still not a sure thing every flight. Now if you are on the 104th server and someone is running GCI in the observer slot, it makes it alot easier to know when fighters are tracking you from far so you can keep pushing or up close trying to hunt you down. Its amazing to see some fighters just slow down and turn in full AB so stupidly trying to get a visual on you while you pedal turn, put the double greens on him, get tone and squeeze off a Mistral. I think the best thing of all is the SimMod message on the 104th server that says "Humiliation Kill" whenever a Gazelle splashes a fighter. Damn it, going back to the Gazelle right now!!
  18. Asset, it was not a freely downloadable document, but for anyone truly wanting to acquire it at no cost you could easily take screenshots of each page and create a pdf file.
  19. The link Pocket Sized posted is the document in which I have been referring to. @Scarecrow You are right. The way the helicopter responds to control inputs is physics. But physics to a great extent, could care less how the control inputs are generated, either by a human pilot capable of generating less than optimal inputs or by a computer that generates near perfect or perfect control inputs based on based on how physics affect the flight of the helicopter itself. Hence the ability of the AP/SAS/FD to respond to the physics of wind gusts and turbulence (as stated in the flight manual). @Zimmerdylan/BigNewey I disagree in that it is not all subjective. At the point in which I referenced the actual Gazelle flight manual (which I believe nobody has done to date, could be wrong), it became only partially subjective since I pretty much quoted verbatim, certain undisputed facts of the portions of the AP/SAS/FD in how it relates to aircraft handling. In a way partially validates some questionable parts of the FM. @Pocket Sized The autopilot combination of SAS and the FD could easily counter the increased torque. The fenestron does not use alot of power in faster forward flight. In addition, while you are correct in that the airfoil of the vertical tail would by nature provide an exact balance at a certain speed, the fact that the tail is countering the torque to some degree would lessen the need for more pedal input to counter. About the different SAS system, if the 342 is classified then not sure how to tell its different for sure, but as far as fighting the SAS, I can see that easily. I have had quite a few high speed crashes at high collective settings in a steep bank during descent in which the cyclic became unresponsive. Almost like I was fighting the limiters. Learned to drop collective, level the aircraft quickly, hard pull on cyclic and raise collective quickly again. Always hear the G-grunts and recover now if I have the altitude. Your last statement of "Is it completely wrong in every conceivable way, as I used to think? Not even close"...I agree with completely myself. To those with issues about inaccurate FMs. If anyone thinks that every other aircraft FM and weapons or system modelling is a completely accurate, you should probably think again. The F-15, M2000C and even the A-10C are all still front line operation combat aircraft. I would think that information to create completely accurate FMs is still classified to a great extent. As far as the russian birds go, I wouldnt doubt that those are quite a bit more accurate as it wouldnt be a far stretch of imagination to think that the information would be freely given out to certain people or could not be obtained financially in a legal or illegal manner. All that being said, at the end of the day I think alot of us get way to serious about wanting perfect FMs, weapons and systems. While I would like things to be realistic as possible, the whole point of my thousands of dollars invested in a capable computer, high quality controls, Trackir and multiple DCS modules as well as the massive time sacrifice is for me to be immersively entertained to either my hearts content or to the point where I cant stand my wife nagging me to turn in off. And I think most all of us lose sight of that at one point in time or another either briefly or long term. Im off to go enjoy my Gazelle now, cya!
  20. Ok guys, Ive been reading all about the FM of the Gazelle and all the complaints about it. Im not a helicopter pilot, or any other type of pilot besides armchair although I have taken the controls of a Cessna 152 a few times. But after reading the Gazelle operating manual, I would be led to believe that the FM is not too far off at all. First off, the Gazelle has not only an SAS system, it also has a flight director. For those complaining that they disabled the SAS and it does the same thing...Disabling does not disable the FD/Autopilot. So to put the info in the manual to the complaints... Quote-It is true that pedal action is required below 80km/h. But the window between "needs pedal when changing collective" and "no pedal needed when changing collective" is so narrow I doubt it is real. If the fenestron takes care of that at 90km/h why not also at 70km/h Answer- Transition to foward flight...is carried out by slightly increasing pitch, without exceeding either maximum permissible torque or the first detent. Note: A short yaw movement may be noticed at approximately 50 knots when yaw channel is disengaged. Descent/slowing to hover is the same thing. Sorry, its taking too long to go through the posts to quote and respond so I will just post the research in paragraphs. Stability Augmentation System: The SAS computer is both a rate and attitude sensing system which will recognize and correct for attitude changes resulting from external aircraft disturbances (gusts, turbulence, etc.) Since there is little or no control motion by the pilot, a corrective action for the disturbance is computed and fed to the SAS actuators which perform the necessary corrections. Autopilot: The automatic pilot consists of both the flight director and SAS which are joined together electronically with the coupler. This FD/SAS combination, once engaged, will automatically fly the helicopter with little or no effort by the pilot. Assistance from the pilot, in general, is required only in the form of minor trimming or repositioning of the cyclic following major power, airspeed or attitude changes. Since the autopilot only functions in pitch and roll (This doesnt include the Alt hold mode btw) the pilot must continue to operate the directional pedals and collective pitch when necessary (Maybe thats why pedals are needed to turn when banking in forward flight??) Hovering at all headings has been demonstrated within the compete flight envelope up to wind velocities of 18 kts, however this value is not to be considered as a limit value. A value of 30 kts has been demonstrated at max weight at sea level with a nuetral c.g. location. In case of vertical descent, do not exceed a rate of descent of 400ft/min. I could just post the whole manual at some point and leave you guys to it... Ok so lets get this straight, the Gazelle does NOT fly like a Huey or Hip or pretty much any other helicopter except maybe the newest and latest and greatest with FBW controls. Honeywell picked the Gazelle to produce the FD/SAS/Autopilot for it because it was already stable and easy to fly and was already quite controllable even without the hydraulic servos functioning. As far as Vortex Ring State, I doubt that it is modelled in the Gazelle, HOWEVER, I doubt ANYONE without a dedicated helo cyclic to fly with could ever get into VRS if it was modelled, at least in the current FM. As soon as you drop the collective the aircraft starts to pitch and move so at the point of you even beginning entering IVRS, you are already moving out of IVRS. The rotor diameter is just over 37 ft. so a 20 ft displacement in any direction and your already over half way out of IVRS and more than likely since it wouldnt be full VRS even a 10ft displacement would probably negate it in full. The manual says do not enter a vertical descent rate of more than 400ft/min. But for many helicopters VRS state is a much higher descent rate. I would imagine that the manufacturer probably used 400ft/min as a precautionary number and it is a bit higher. In fact, I challenge any of you to manually fly a vertical descent rate of 500ft/min and then replay it and check to see if your forward/reverse/sideways airspeed stayed at 0 kts. If you had even a 5 kt airspeed in any direction you would be out of VRS in about 4 seconds and have moved a full rotor diameter with an altitude loss of less than 40 ft to full recovery. Has anyone even watch videos of the Gazelle flying around, in or out of the cockpit? Other than seeing the airframe vibrations they are smooth flying. Even the military videos of them show the pilots wrenching them all over the place in perfect control. I know we all want realistic and it might not seem too realistic, but maybe, just maybe, the Gazelle is just a great easy to fly aircraft, just maybe...with a helo cyclic anyway. My 2 cents, let the rants begin...
  21. Im definitely not savvy when it comes to modding things but is there nobody out there that can find the file to eliminate the doors so they dont show up? I mean there is a script for closing them and we can see inside when they are open, cant we just leave them out?
  22. Any chance we can get a Gazelle with no doors so we can pick up troops or pilot rescue? Maybe without the cross-support for the weapons mount? A civilian version wouldnt be bad either... I know there was supposed to be a sniper team version coming out in the future but I dont really need the sniper team to do troop transport. You cant see the troops anyway in a Huey or Hip when transporting. Just hoping
  23. If the autoexec.cfg file did not work for u then try disabling any antivirus programs. I only did those two things and it is now working properly again. It was either one or the other.
  24. Just quick edit from my problem fix post. I forgot that I had disabled malwarebytes antivirus app just prior to adding the autoexec.cfg file. I had malwarebytes running before the update and everything was fine so I didn't think that it would have caused an issue. So to summarize-disabled antivirus app and added autoexec.cfg file to config folder. Either way, I no longer have issues with 1.5.6 update
  25. Ok guys, I know this is going to sound pretty stupid but and that it has nothing to do with the long load times... I was talking with my 104th squad leader IronMike and he advised me to download and install an autoexec.cfg file and put it in my saved games/config file. I downloaded it, installed it and PRESTO!! everything seems to work just fine again. I informed him and he said it should only affect staying connected online as it overrides upload and download speeds, but I am all back to normal now. http://www.mediafire.com/file/37bejnkzp2sll1g/autoexec.cfg There it is in case anyone wants to try it out. Good Luck!!
