@plusnine Absolutely awesome attitude to have! Doing something you love, that also brings happiness to other people and not having money be a motivator to do it can be a reward like no other. It also means you are probably going to obtain financial wealth in the future if you haven't already lol. Thanks again -

Very impressive work, definitely ranks up there with top modules whether paid or not! Why can't donations be accepted? There should definitely be some kind of financial reward for this much work! Thank you. -
Go for the best you can afford, higher than the 3060TI if you can. I fly at 1440p, had a 1080TI and it had a some stutters here and there but more or less hit 60fps with trackir. Decided to go for the 2080TI when it came out and spent $1800 for it. Sold my 1080TI for $450 so upgrade cost was $1350. Now I hit solid 60 and stutters are virtually non existent except for Marianas map. The upgrade provided maybe a 8-10% increase in performance which was not very cost effective in itself but the enjoyment increase was much higher in having DCS run so smoothly that it was worth the cost to me.

So I have had Viper landings down cold already for a long time, yesterday at touchdown I flared to where the NO RAD lettering in the HUD is just under the 15 degree aoa ladder marking same as I always do to aerobrake. This time I scraped the tail. So I tried it again and it definitely scrapes at lower AOA than before. Anyone else getting this now?

investigating Pitch oscillation when transitioning to hover

This is a custom mission. I was able to recreate again but then I figured out that I didnt have all the autopilot channels turned on. It doesnt do it with them all on ... Thanks -
One F-18 vs 2 J-11: please some suggestion. Thanks.

You should be able to defeat a missile fired from 80 miles quite easily as long as you are not just flying straight into it. Are you going into the beam to break lock? Do you have E-2 or E-3 for datalink? Also, the Hornet is not the best missile platform because it just cant go fast enough to give the missile the extra kinetic energy to acheive a longer range... -
So I just took this plane for a spin. Cruised on up to 40k and leveled out. After a few minutes I was at Mach 1.4 then did a zoom climb up to 75000ft blacking out around 48000ft on the way up. Waited to get my oxygen back and found myself nose down at 23000ft at Mach 1.6...then pulled stick all the way back and hit 25G on the pullout... I think its got way too much power up high and not enough down low...

Just noticed that trees and bushes move with wind now lol. I thought it was a graphics glitch at first...

I had the same issue with both jets as well. Turns out I had inadvertantly assigned nose down trim to a second button that was already in use. Unmapped and all down trim issues went away.

Cloud base too low when not using a preset
104th_Money replied to 104th_Money's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Unknown I just tried with the setting at rain only but if you take off and fly from Laughlin heading NNW and get to the little mountain range NW of Las Vegas, the clouds are still so thick that it precludes flying at low level since you cant really see where you are going in enough time. Hope they at least fix the cloud base settings soon... -

Cloud base too low when not using a preset
104th_Money replied to 104th_Money's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Unknown... So any use of overcast presets or nothing preset with cloud count of 6-10 gives you clouds that are approximately 1000' asl. I created a previous mission with the old weather editor and had a cloud base of 11,000' with rain and thunderstorms. I can no longer create such a cloud base with any type of rain or thunderstorms with or without presets. So I included 3 screenshots. First is the ME screen showing the cloud base set around 11,000 '. I put my cursor over the center of the runway and it is 656' ASL. This is confirmed by the 2nd screenshot of my F-16 on the ground showing 660' AGL. I took off and upon reaching 1,180' I was already inside the cloud base as confirmed by the 3rd screenshot although it doesnt quite show but trust me, I cant see anything outside the cockpit anymore because I am already in the clouds. You can also see how low the clouds are in the runway screenshot as well. So for sure for me at least, it is not working as before. -
Been there for a few versions already...

Cloud base too low when not using a preset

Tried using different 5-10 on clouds, as well as Overcast options 1 and 2 but cloud base still is only a few hundred feet from ground...Had temp set at 6 deg c, even bumped up temps, nothing changed -

I will try the Overcast 2 for the time being, but the non preset still puts clouds within a few hundred feet of ground regardless of base setting -
When not using a preset weather condition and only the 1-10 numerical cloud selection and regardless of the cloud base height selection the clouds are only a few hundred feet from the ground however rain is visible. When using the highest overcast/rain preset, the clouds are quite high but there is no rain. The temperature setting was the same for both tries.

If you watch the wheels during landing, maximum braking starts locking up the wheels. They are not working properly in anti-skid forcing the jet to pull to one side or the other. If they did, the jet would be much easier to control down the runway as long as crosswind wasnt a factor. As far as crosswind landings, test pilots successfully landed the F-16 in 37kt crosswinds and recommended a 35kt maximum crosswind landing for regular operations but the person in charge of actually setting the limit decided on 25kts.

I wouldnt fly faster than what you need to keep the E bracket centered on approach. You are making it harder by having to reduce your speed on approach. The farther out you can get lined up and on speed the easier it will be. That being said, from experience in flying at different weights you can remember what your on speed approach should be and that allows you to fly more agressively in the pattern by keeping your speed up down wind and on base.

So just downloaded most recent update and when I opened DCS, it gives me an invalid username/password error. Tried resetting password but it did not work. I can hit cancel but a message pops up saying that all of my paid modules are disabled then starts up DCS. Checked forums and the best answer I can find is that later it starts working again. It is not right that I am not able to even fly offline with modules that I paid for because of some kind of error on EDs part.

I have observed this many many times. It is much more pronounced at slower airspeeds especially after the first 90 degrees of loop. The first few times I thought I was just subconciously pulling the stick to the left with max back stick pressure but then realized that it does take noticable stick deflection to the right to keep the wings level.

Spurts There is nothing academic about a 0.7 degree per second advantage in turn rate. Especially when that advantage goes to the Hornet. That 0.7 degrees per second translates into 84 degrees after 120 seconds which is roughly 6 full 360 degree turns. When you include the fact that the Hornet can get to maximum G much quicker than the Viper, the Hornet gets about a 15 degree advantage immediately with an equal merge. 84+15=99 degree advantage after 6 turns leaving 81 degrees to make up for a firing solution. Since we are talking about the Hornet with no alpha limiter, the Hornet could either spend all of his energy for a possible shot or cut across the circle and gain another 45-60 degrees, now leaving between 21-36 degrees to go when he gets his energy back and re-enters the circle. That is definitely within pulling lead for a shot and more often than not by the time you get down to that angle, the Viper is already squirming around trying to get off Hornets lift vector by maneuvering out of plane and the writing is on the wall that this fight is about to be over.

The real issue here is that there has never been an incident where a RL Hornet pilot has had his life on the line in actual combat and decided that he had to use the paddle switch to save his life or to gain an advantage to kill an opponent. I am 100% certain that there would be no hesitation on a pilots part to use it under extraordinary circumstances. As of now there are disciplinary consequences for a pilot that pulls it during peacetime as it is pretty much put in place because if it pulled more than 7.5g on a regular basis the life of the airframe would be shortened drastically and all the legacy Charlie models would have been retired in the early 2000s if not sooner. In our virtual world, every fight is “do or die” and you exploit whatever advantages you have to win. Just so it’s out there and known, when I am flying the Hornet I will not hesitate to use the paddle switch or the spin recovery switch at any given time to gain an advantage and will not enter a competition where it is not allowed. If people choose not to fly with me because I use them it is ok with me as well. If you choose to fly an aircraft against me that has disadvantage either real world or by incorrect modeling, that is your choice. But don’t complain lol.
