Ok, deleted dcs.openbeta folder from saved games. ran dcs_updater.exe cleanup ran dcs_updater.exe repair When I opened DCS OB, i was in windowed mode, fixed all my settings and but did not import joystick profiles. Entered joystick profiles manually. Loaded a simple mission with a Gazelle and 5 static object helicopters Hit ok to load mission, get to start button, everything still ok Hit start button, wait exactly 3 minutes and am finally able to enter aircraft. Close mission, go to multiplayer. Join 104th Phoenix server. Select it and hit join. Wait for 1 minute and 25 seconds and load into area to select aircraft. Unable to select aircraft, game freezes 20 seconds then get connection timed out window. Nothing has changed for me after repairs. Just checked 1.5.5 and 2.0 OA. 1.5.5 has same load time as 1.5.6. 2.0 OA has 3 minutes 49 seconds wait to load offline mission. Did not test server join for 1.5.5 or 2.0 OA. For me, DCS 2.0 OA always had a slightly longer load time than the others, now all take long to load. Previous load times to enter simple offline mission was 10-12 seconds and about 15 secs to join 104th server. Options lua attached. options.lua

@Art J I understand the copying of files to save bandwidth. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting any files that might have been damaged or installed incorrectly and eliminate that as an issue. This issue is affecting ALL of my DCS installs now, not just OB. @BillyCrusher Will try the delete/cleanup/repair thing when I get home. If not working will send log and options.lua All versions were working well prior to update and I had no loading time, freezing, connection timeouts or stuttering issues prior to update. In this particular case the connection timing out when freezing while loading terrain appears to be causing sync or ping issues. I am also getting severe stuttering flying offline. If I press F2 for external view it will freeze for up to 10 seconds before it starts working again.

After 1.5.6 update my DCS open beta has been porked. Everything loads fine until I hit the start/fly button. At that point I'm lucky to even get in the mission I am flying. At first I thought it might be a server or internet issue, but it persists even flying offline. I tried repairing open beta 1.5.6. I noticed during the repair/updates that it was copying files from DCS 1.5.5 stable and/or from DCS open alpha 2.0. Nothing changed. Load up times are so bad that I time out from servers when I attempt to fly online. So I bit the bullet, moved DCS 1.5.5 and open alpha 2.0 to a different location so when I reinstalled 1.5.6 it wouldnt take any files from there. I did a full reinstall of DCS open beta 1.5.6, downloading about 14GB of content, unpacked about 26GB of files and only installed FC3 and Gazelle modules. I have no other mods of any kind installed. The problem still persists. I load fine initially. But even using the mission editor to create a new mission it stutters and freezes for awhile then its ok. I go to fly offline and everything is fine until I hit start. Random success, over 3 minutes to load a simple mission with only 1 aircraft or it just hangs completely. Attempted to connect to the 104th server again. I get the server list no problem but as soon as I hit join it just hangs. A few times it CTD, a few times it gives me a connection timed out message. Im not sure what is going on but at this point I can only fly offline when it decides to work. Added note: The same issues now apply to DCS 2.0 NTTR and to 1.5.5. It is affecting everything. Please help................... Money

104th_Money replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
My curiosity is what the visibility OUT of the next DCS jet is, canopy rail in front of pilot, rear of pilot, in front and rear of pilot?? Come on, you can tell us. 104th Money -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
104th_Money replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Actually, NAS Fallon in northern Nevada is, as the US Navy states it "the Navy’s premier tactical air warfare training center." So it would be a great terrain to have if in fact the F-18C is the next jet. There is also plenty of classified equipment in the C model that we wouldnt get in the sim if it was made anyway. My father got a ride in a D model a few years back out of NAS Fallon and before he entered the cockpit they covered all of the classified equipment with duct tape. He was instructed not to tamper with the tape during the flight... Money -
you mean like this? http://www.airportjournals.com/Photos/0905/X/0905003_8.jpg

If its realistic and can be implemented, it should be. As member of the 104th, I vote yes.

Old Flanker File (patches) Downloads
104th_Money replied to Comieodor's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
what OS are you running on your g4? if its not 10.5 leopard you can download the old internet explorer for mac. Or you can download Netscape Navigator. When I get things I cant download, usually Navigator handles it with no problem. -
Is it that I have inhaled too much diesel truck fumes, asbestos dust and might have hit the bottle during lunch time, or is that really the faint outline of an SR-71 in this pic and not the mountains?...

Rgr that Crunch. How does it detect something like taxiway takeoff or illegal payloads then? Sure would be nice if ED would do the fixing...

Solution to some "cheats" I know I rarely post here, but as I was reading this thread I just thought of something that might cure a few of the cheats. Keep in mind, I dont know nearly all of them and I dont want to know but the ones that come to mind are the maddog ET's, blinking ECM and excessive flares. From reading somewhere in this post that LRM can only do what a pilot could do, I came up with these. Please feel free to laugh, comment or criticize. Better I post with a silly idea than to not post at all. Also keep in mind I havent the slightest idea how to work with lua. I am sure you will get the picture though. Maybe LRM could do something like this... for maddog ET's... if launch override button pressed = true and if fire/release weapon button pressed = true then same command as control + E, control + E, control + E = true ...the pilot gets ejected... for ECM blinking... if ECM activated = true and if ECM de-activated = true and if ECM reactivated within 30 seconds of first activation = true then same command as control + E, control + E, control + E = true ...the pilot gets ejected... for excessive flares... if maximum flares is 30 = true and if flares released is >30 = true then same command as control + E, control + E, control + E = true and you guessed it, the pilot gets ejected... If it worked this way, and people started getting auto-punched from their planes, we would know that they were trying to do something that shouldnt be done. My guess is that all of those things would stop pretty quick :) Just my 2 cents 169F_Money

Griffen I got the same thing and couldnt figure out for the life of me how to stop it for some time. Press the 1 key on the keypad of your keyboard. This stops the spinning. Then use your mouse to manuever the angle of viewing you would like. 169F_Money

Would you pay for another Addon to Lock On ?
104th_Money replied to 104th_Crunch's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes. I would pay for an add on aircraft update for Lock On, especially if a majority of the update went to fixing current issues. However, I would think that since I already purchased the original, the price should be somewhere in the $20 range. As far as aircraft, I dont think that a Mig-25 be the best choice of aircraft. I would prefer to fly an F-16, however I agree with Aeroscout that the proper balance would be an F-18 for US carrier operations, along with an update to the US tankers for the probe and drogue system for AA refuelling along with the boom. In my personal opinion, for ED to offer a low priced update for an older product that still has such a large following would go a long way in any future decisions to purchase new products that they produce, regardless of them doing the work themselves or allowing 3rd parties to develop a patch or introduce a new flyable. In all reality, while DCS:Black Shark is an absolutely wonderful simulation of unprecedent quality, the mission play, both on and offline remain a severely limited niche in the world of combat simulation. As a result I still find myself flying Lock On significantly more than BS. So I would rather see an aircaft/patch update soon and wait a bit longer for a new aircraft for DCS later. 169F Money -
Not tryin to start no beefs here guys...but nobody seems to have caught it yet so ill chime in real quick... CH-46 and CH-47= Boeing/Vertol or just plain Boeing nowadays. Btw, my vote would be the Bell AH-1 series helos... 169cdt_Money

I have read the .pdf manuals and can find nothing about changing HUD except for color. Are there any key commands for changing speed from IAS to TAS or GAS and for changing altimeter from baro to radar?
-
Ive read the manual and cant find anything concerning changing into different HUD modes such as TAS or GAS for airspeed and from barometric to radar altimeter. I also cant find anything concerning air to air refuelling. Is there any add on documentation files or hidden key commands for these? Thanks in advance. Money

Thanks for the welcome. Poko - Mac Pro uses Apple BootCamp to assist with installing WinXP, no more G series processors anymore, my comp has 2 3.0Ghz quad-core processors with 3GB memory and 256mb Nvidia card. Lomac in original install form seems to fly very well with almost everything set at high... Yeniceri- I expect to get shot down many times early on as I am new to THIS sim, but I have well over 1500 hours (could be way more, but system reinstalls back in the day made me lose alot of pilots logs) of flight time logged in mac version of Falcon 4, about 2/3rds of that time is online flight, as well as several hundred in Targetware's various mods, not to mention the old Hornet 2,3 and Korea Gold (at least 1000 hrs there). I learned one thing about flying online. Fly offline for at least a 100 hours and learn your plane before you ever step foot on the virtual battlefield. When I do go online, i shall be prepared :). So far Ive done about 100 touch and goes in the F-15 and been practicing my low-speed manuevering. I have always done extremely well in online air to air combat in all the other sims, and I expect to do the same here. One question, in offline air to air refuelling, after I disconnect from the tanker, some kind of autopilot seems to retain control of my plane, how to I stop that? Money

Hi all, I'm Money, a newcomer to Lomac, just got my Mac Pro set up with WinXP and got it installed and working. I have lots of experience in combat sims, but all on Mac. I have only installed vanilla versions of Gold, consisting of lomac and lomacFC, no updates yet. Can anyone give me any advice on how to update, any helpful hints, and last but not least and definitely most important, how to fly online!!! Any help is greatly appreciated in advance... Money
