In the Blackshark 2 Campaign "Deployment" mission Narzan I have completed all the mission tasks. All enemies destroyed, and all friendly helicopters reached the base, but I did not get the mission complete message and the score is stuck at 90%. Fortunately, after closing the mission and pressing next in the campaign menu I do get the next mission and do not have to redo the mission. Still seems to be a small bug in this mission. I am running 1.5.2.48162 Very enjoyable mission by the way. I love the atmosphere of the campaign!

While playing the Black Shark 2 campaign deployment I noticed that the flares dropped by the plane from my team were not producing any light. It was the 5th mission where you have to blow up a house. Also in the previous mission where you have to escape with your helicopter from an assault on your base had flares without light. I am using version 1.5.2.48162. Flat terrain shadows on, depth of field off. High settings. GTX770

New smoke effects The models really benefit from the new beta with extra smoke effects. Bloody hell, they are difficult to land on. Took me three crashes. It only fits in the longitudinal direction. Great fun. Thanks Upuat and Esac. I had never heard about these boats before coming across your model, Upuat. Amazing the effort the US army put into the Vietnam war, and all for nothing in the end (and at what terrible loss of human life). -

Thank you Esac, but that's what I did. At least I made a JSGME folder with _Mods\Tango\Mods\tech and then activated the Tango mod. OK, second attempt. I copied the tech folder into the mod folder directly as advised. The tech folder contains the folder Shapes and Textures as well as three lua files charly, entry and tango. However, the units do not show up in the mission editor (I checked not only ships, but also structures and all other object categories). Mmm not sure what's going wrong. -

Installing Tango? Hi Upuaut, thanks for your great mods. They really add to the DCS helicopter experience. I hope ED will add them to the standard game. My question is: I would like to try your Tango mod, and I have followed the installation instructions (a tech folder in the Mods folder), but it is not working. I wonder whether your Tango installation instructions are from before the 1.5 beta, because there was no tech folder present in the mods folder. Could you help me install the tango ships? -
When you shoot at infantry that has been placed on the roofs of buildings they often fall off or even inside the building. This has been present for all the software versions since I started playing about a year ago and is also still present in 1.5.2. As they sometimes fall from quite high buildings and still survive, it is immersion breaking. Also when they fall in the building it is not possible to kill them. Q: At what range can the Gazelle detect and mark targets, and what is the range of the missiles compared to the defensive firing range of typical targets? I ask because tanks, and APC are extremely good shots in DCS, and I hope the Gazelle can operate at a safe stand-off range. Q: What is the maneuverability and instability of the Gazelle compared to the other helicopter modules already in DCS, in particular the Huey? Also +1 for more weapon configurations. Q: What is ED's stance on the extra French ships and buildings that Polychop has already prepared (Mistral) and would like to add to the module? I refer to one of the recent interviews.

I love the idea of dropping a laser guided bomb that is being guided by a ground unit. Lots of opportunities for scenarios. For instance like in the movie clear and present danger where a laser guided bomb is used to suggest a car bomb assassination. I am disappointed about the lack of exocet missiles. Maybe it is not 100% historical accurate, but that was my first association with this module, and it would open lots of other interesting (fictional) scenarios like attacks on carrier groups. Hope they will change their mind, it looks like a lot of potential customers are keen on it.

Posts moved to wrong thread Dear moderator, my two posts above are on the topic of shadows of trees in forests. I think they will be overlooked here, I would appreciate it if you could move them to a more relevant thread. Some new information, based on comments from theropod I have switched flat terrain shadows on. Trees in villages now show shadows, however trees in forest still shimmer. I have recorded a new video after hot fix 3 with flat terrain shadows on, here is the link. You need to look carefully as the effect is less obvious in the video than ingame on my monitor. Towards the end the on/off switching of shadows is most clear. I look forward to your comments, and thanks for the hot fixes so far.

Trees in city no shadows

Quick reply I tried the flat "terrain shadows on" for a few minutes, and the trees in the cities have shadows with this option on. On the other hand the trees in the forest seem to have more artifacts now. Anyway I will look into the older threads. Thanks for your help. -
Video I have made a video to capture the current status Please let me know whether you can access it. A fourth issue I noticed is some delays (stuttering) when flying close to the trees even though the fps is around 60-70.

Forest shadows in 1.5.0.46175 improved but still some bugs Forest shadows look better on my computer. Issues remaining: 1) some shadows still "switch" on and off every few seconds 2) fps is quite a bit lower than non-forest areas, but perhaps this is to be expected if so many shadows are calculated simultaneously. 3) colour of certain tree areas is clearly different, and it doesn't look natural. See for example second picture. It kinda looks like the sun light is falling from a different direction. GTX 770, i5-3350p, 8Gb, win10

Hi, I have been trying out the new 1.5.0.46175 version. Shadows seem to have improved *, I have not seen the flickering building shadows that were present in the previous version yet. I did notice something strange about the trees in cities: they don't have any shadows even if they are standing next to buildings that have shadows. See examples from the UH-1H free flight over Tbilisi. Screen shots were taken over Lilo. GTX770, 8Gb, i5-3350p, win10 * forests not perfect yet though

Bad frames on SU25T campaign

I can confirm I also experienced this. Normally I have an average of 80 fps in the su25, but in the first mission of the campaign it dropped to 10-20 fps when I got in the vicinity of the troops. General fps seemed lower than normal as well. GTX770, 8Gb, i5-3350p Windows10-pro, 64bit -
Floating trees

Well, it is a pretty common bug. Basically every wooded area on hills seems to have them. I hope they will be fixed as they are pretty immersion killing in particular for helicopter flying. These floating trees, three in the front and one in the distance were photographed / screen-shot south-east of Poti. -
I noticed some errors in the oil platform object while flying the UH-1H quick mission "oil platform landing". First of all the fence disappears depending on the viewing angle. Also a girder from below the platform can be seen through the landing pad at certain angles. Also some other fences were missing when doing a quick fly around.

Crash to desktop Just experienced crash to desktop when flying a10c in georgian campaign mission 4 or 5 (the mission where you have to signal the ground units to move forward). Is there a kind of automatic log file that I can share with you guys? The only thing that I can contribute now is that I had noticed that the alt + tab function had stopped working a few minutes earlier. (I wanted to paste a screenshot). Frames per second seemed also a bit lower than normal. I didn't notice anything else. The last thing I was doing was trying to set target to some of the last ground units that were remaining. Windows 10, GTX770, 8Gb, Steam version (update to latest beta version), no mods. Edit: I have added the log file as requested. The colour of the display has changed from blue to green, and I find it really difficult to read it with the new lighting system. I think the brightness needs to be turned up. In case I am using the wrong jargon, I mean the radio like display of the height of the helicopter above the terrain. I am running 1.5.0.45655

Noticed some floating trees here and there. It seems to happen in areas with forrests on high hill gradients. I have a included a map overview of the location where I found three examples in a few minutes. I am running 1.5.0.45655

As beta tester I am wondering what type of upgrade plan ED has in mind for the beta. There was a hot fix one day after the launch of the beta, due to the start up problems with the Steam version. Since that update I have not seen any news. Some companies strive for a weekly or 2-weekly update with the fixes that have been implemented up to that point. Some weeks will have more fixes than others, but at least there is a clear sense of progress. As tester I am really curious to see what is happening with our feedback, and whether we are providing the right information to ED to improve the product.
