  1. Tinkicker mentioned this on hoggit: I have only had a quick mission and found: The extra "detail" has not appeared to affect the performance in VR (Rift) in any way whatsoever. It ran just as well as as before when it was performing at its best. No jitters whatsoever. Hard to put a finger on what all the extra detail is as I always fly at daybreak, but I can say there does appear to be a greater resolution of terrain features, there seems to far more and much more detailed rilles and canyons around in the mountains. Also noticed the salt lakes off the end of runway 14 at Tonopah Test base have very defined 3D banks now, and are actually below the level of the surrounding terrain by a few feet; whereas before they were just like paint on the ground, which further points to increased terrain resolution. It does look much better, but hard to know exactly why apart from what has just been mentioned. I cannot discern any difference in terrain textures or objects down low. Sounds promising.
  2. Has anyone observed any changes in the Nevada map?
  3. Thanks guys. Those two pictures are pretty cool. I hope they will add a few more sightseeing locations in the coming months. The huey will be my vehicle of choice as well when I finally go to Normandy.
  4. Originally I was not very interested in Nevada, but the pictures of the strip, Hoover dam, and the nuclear test craters changed my mind. I think something similar could be true for Normandy for many people. Having some unique locations could make the map interesting for people that may not be interested in the second world war, but like to take free flight tours in a new region. Are famous sightseeing spots like Mont St Michel the cliffs of Dover, and Dover castle included in the map? Could someone please post some pictures of those locations?
  5. Greg, do you have plans to publish this campaign on Steam? Thanks for making a Huey campaign!
  6. Thanks Art-J, I will check it out.
  7. Extension cable defective After using the 10 cm black extension for about a year the extension cable is defective. I moved house a few times and had to take the extension off a couple of times. The cable is a little deformed, and the male connector has movement along the cable. It looks like the cheapest option is to buy a new cable on the interweb, but I am not sure what type it is. It looks like a 5 pin male ps/2 and 5 pin female ps/2. Can someone confirm? It is hard to go back to the normal warthog stick ... especially in my Huey.
  8. Thanks for your message. I have a customer! Actually, it is an old mission build for a previous Dcs version. I am away from my computer for some time, but you should be able to update it easily yourself. Just open the file in the mission editor and save it again. Also make sure to download the latest upuat mod. There is hardly any scripting so should work without problems. Let me know what you think and I can make a better version for you in a few weeks time.
  9. I have noticed a few times on both the current beta 1.5 (last friday) and the previous 1.5 beta version that after successfully completing a mission the game hangs on the loading screen. It occurred in the KA-50 deployment campaign. Most recent occassion was when I completed the campaign today, after the congratulation message the game showed a loading screen, but never continued. The only solution was to kill the application with task manager. I have attached the log files from saved games. i5-3350p, GTX 770 2 Gb, 16 Gb, Windows 10, DCS Steam version * I have modified the log files for privacy reasons * Logs.zip
  10. Bug fixed Today's patch fixed the bug for the KA-50 campaign.
  11. Thanks for your reply msalama. Let us know if you have new insights. Before my measurements reported above I had already ordered an extra 8 Gb Ram. It came a couple of days later and I have installed it for a total of 16 Gb, but do not notice any improvement. Wasted a bit of money it seems, well it will be useful when Nevada finally comes to Steam. When flying the A-10C in the original campaign on the coast I am getting lower fps when looking at Batumi at close range, about 30 fps. Especially the airport seems to cost a lot of fps, although there is not much going on. This performance is similar to earlier results. The improved performance with the Huey in the fast mission and the SU-25T in the campaign are still there. I look forward to finally playing the SU-25T campaign.
  12. I have also encountered a similar bug in the Ka-50 deployment campaign mission 9. After destroying two out of three AA sites a friendly convoy should assault an enemy position to relieve a bunker. The radio message plays after triggering the activation, but the units don't move. I have also encountered the same bug in a mission I have build myself. Two groups of armoured vehicles are ordered to move, but do not spring into action.
  13. I have experienced much improved performance, and I am wondering if I am the only one. My system is quite modest: i5 3350p, GTX 770 2Gb, 8Gb Ram, 512 Gb SSD, Win 10 The last few beta's there were two weak spots for me. In the Huey Easy Ground Attack quick mission after blowing up all the trucks I used to get only 20 fps close to the smoke.-> Now 60 fps In the SU-25T campaign first mission close to the coast used to be unplayable for me at ca 10-20 fps -> Now same spot 50 -80 fps. I have attached screen shots, including my settings. I think I am running at highest settings with Visibily Range Extreme, 16x Anisoptric Filtering, MSAA 16xQ, Shadows Ultra. The only lower setting is Flat Terrain Shadows On. Now some speculation: before these measurements I played around with a HTC Vive, and got very poor performance, so I turned everything to lowest setting, but still got poor performance. When I returned to DCS to play on a monitor I initially kept those low settings, and got ridiculously high fps like 200 fps. So slowly I started to switch to higher settings in many small steps, and in the end I found that even with the highest settings I am getting excellent performance. Perhaps the increased performance has something to do with a clean start of the settings file? Second possible cause is maybed the reduced aiming of the machine guns of enemy tanks and other vehicles. Perhaps that cost a lot of calculation power in the past? Well it is a mystery for me, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
  14. Hi, I checked the performance of the Su-25T campaign and unfortunately it is still very poor. I run the game at max settings, 1080p. At take off about 50 fps, when I approach the enemy positions it drops to about 5 fps. I play a lot of Huey, KA-50 and A-10C (including the full campaigns) and the fps never goes below 30 fps, usual number is 60-70 fps with peaks up to 120 fps. So, my conclusion that there is something unique about the SU-25T situation. Location? Number of enemies? But the A-10C campaign contains similar numbers of AI units so this should not be the problem. GTX770 2Gb, i5-3350-P, 8Gb, Windows 10

  16. Fair enough. if it is not realistic it should not be in. I was considering that with all the different air planes and helicopters we have now there might be an aircraft with fuel tanks placed relatively close to the pilot where he could feel the refuelling, perhaps a WW2 plane or an old helicopter like the Huey. But if it is not realistic it should not be in. I guess some planes are nearing complete vibration modelling with simshaker, which is actually very cool.
  17. Happy New year everyone! I was scrolling through the effects matrix and I noticed that the doors of the Ka-50 do not yet have an effect. Maybe minor thing, but I love seeing the database get filled. How about adding efffects for refuelling? A subtle rumble perhaps. What do you think, guys?
  18. It is a beautiful model. I hope the creator will add laser beams and vertical flight! The readme file mentioned "Created by Herminio Nieves @2013" and on the German lockon forum user cdpkobra mentioned he had modified the model for DCS 2.0 alpha http://lockonforum.de/index.php?threads/ufo-flyable-mod.7247/ I used the mod without problems in the Caucasus map.
  19. Black Shark 2 and Huey I just tried to upload the Black Shark 2 manual (from the module folder) to the Lulu website, and I also get the lettertype (Times, Arial, Arial Bold) missing error. Could Eagle Dynamics update the pdf file to include the lettertypes, and perhaps even add it to the Lulu website? I did find out that the paper size of the current DCS books on the site is Crown Quarto (British paper format)18.91 x 24.59 cm By the way, the Huey manual is still incomplete (e.g. history is missing) so not worth printing at the moment.
  20. The changes sound great. Thank you in particular for the UH-1H additions! I look forward to trying it once I have a jetseat or buttshaker. Some feedback: -I noticed that the Ka-50 has an APU running effect, but the A-10C does not. Is that something worthwhile adding? -On the DCS Helicopters page "Sound: Crue Voices (Demo)" - Crue probably should be Crew
  21. Future plans Hi Andre, what kind of effects are going to be added to the UH-1H? Some pages back I read there was a poll to determine the next module to get more effects, and the UH-1H won. Is this expansion still planned for December? Second question, are you considering adding "native" support for Elite Dangerous and/or Star Citizen like DCS. I believe many DCS enthusiasts also play at least one of the two, and I really look forward to combining the jet seat with one of the upcoming VR HMD's.
  22. Yes SnowTiger at the second attempt it just worked. I should mention that I was running the Devrim black cockpit mod. When I was trying to start the Back to Teberda mission from the same campaign it crashed to desktop on three consecutive attempts. When I disabled the mod the mission started without problem. SnowTiger are you running the same mod?
  23. Bug fixed? In 1.5.2 this bug does not seem to be present. The pictures are from a free flight I created in the mission editor, and the empty containers match the number of rockets I had fired. Both Vikhr and the other type of rockets. Also in the campaign deployment this bug did not seem to occur. Perhaps it was fixed?
  24. Confirmed crash in Black Shark 2 deployment campaign I also experienced a crash to desktop while loading the narzan valley, and just now a crash to desktop while loading the next mission (where a pilot needs to be rescued). Is there any kind of log file that I could upload for you to analysis, ED?
  25. Why two types of Stuka? Hi Fragger, great news bulletin and lovely timing. I am eagerly awaiting the launch of your first product. I am also curious about the Stuka. Why are you guys developing two models? I would guess the G-2 model is the ultimate tankbuster version known from the Stuka book. Any hidden benefits of the D model? Perhaps anti-shipping? Will you include period correct targets? WW2 Russian tanks, Russian destroyers, British troops from North-Africa, etc. ? Will the liveries include the (in at least one country) prohibited swastika symbol? I have to say I have mixed feelings about flying this plane considering the crimes that were committed with it by the nazi's all over Europe (for example retribution bombing of Belgrade), particularly if it would feature swastika symbols. I am not in favour of censoring the symbol out of historical documents, but flying a plane covered with it feels wrong. Moving on from this sensitive topic I wish you and your colleagues lots of success. The way you guys communicate gives me a lot of confidence in your team.
