  1. If you hit cancel you can switch over to HTTP. There is a prompt after the updater disconnects.
  2. Does ED have dedicated seedboxes for this updater? I think this is the only way this update method could make sense. I doubt that clients would really be able to provide ample bandwidth unless they chose to torrent explicitly.
  3. I decided to practice again and I was crashing! I only managed to get it right when I remembered how to let go of the stick. Basically what I've found to be most consistent is: 1. Lock Tail Wheel by pulling stick back 2. Rev engine up to 2700-3000 RPM 3. Accelerate Use Right Rudder to keep turn and slip indicator centered 4. At 150kph start to center stick. This is the most delicate and crucial of all the steps. Screw this up and you trash the plane. 5. At about 180kph stick is almost centered and you should be in the air
  4. I really want any Su-27 model with advanced system modeling. Even the Su-27S that's in FC3. Would be a dream come true to see that bird modeled properly
  5. What happens when the installer finishes? Does DCS still keep open sockets to upload or is it done? In that case wouldn't someone late to the party be kinda screwed?
  6. Cool! Is there a thread tracking the progress of that project? I'd imagine we'd expect it end of 2016 at the earliest.
  7. I've started flying some of the WWII birds and I've noticed that the in-game ATC is in English. I would like to have it in German as it would be more authentic. Thoughts?
  8. After crashing this thing over and over for about 2 hours straight I finally got it. What works for me is to lock the tail wheel. Get RPM somewhere around 2700-3000 and use right rudder (and only right rudder) gently and quickly to keep the yaw slip indicator "centered" (it's really a combination of keeping the plane straight on the runway and keeping the slip to a minimum. the plane slips left by default). As soon as the plane lifts off it sort of starts to feel like its drifting to the right (from my right rudder input) and banking to the left at that point i gently and gradually release the stick to center and remove right rudder completely. I start to lift off around 150-160kph. I don't let the stick center until i reach about 200kph. I hope this helps someone. The rudder inputs are very gentle.
  9. Can someone confirm that the Su-27 has only two positions basically up and down?
  10. Do you do a pop-up attack as described in the rockets training? That is go up and then invert to go down and then invert again to aim? I haven't done this since it's hard to keep steady and aim fast enough.
  11. Nice one! I really want to break bank for this now dammit!
  12. This is good to know. Are there any monitors that would work well with Windows 7?
  13. Has anyone used a touch-screen monitor with a clickable cockpit? This would work really nicely with something trackIR. If not supported this should definitely be implemented.
  14. I've had a similar issue with damaged gear and airbrakes. Both were not fixed after ground crew complied with repair request.
  15. Attached is a track of my attempt. I modified the training mission so that it would skip the tutorial. Anyways I manage to get the first one but he still gets a hit. The other two I fail on miserably and I end up landing out of ammo and my right engine damaged Note that this was DCS 1.5 and the track is slightly off (landing might be different based on damage since its not deterministic ) gun_pod_fail.trk
  16. Looking at Su27 landing videos it's about 50/50 for airbrakes. I wish they were a bit better since it's hard to tell if they just apply airbrake right before touchdown or if it's on during the glide down to the runway.
  17. Seems like the general consensus is to not use airbrakes. Do you deploy them on touch down?
  18. I would like an easy way to view a ground attack plane from a target's perspective. Currently I can get the view to the tank but I can't adjust for a good view. Maybe a chase view somewhere off to the side of the ground object or a way to change the current camera to a free view could be enabled. Maybe one of these options is already possible. Thoughts?
  19. What about in cross winds? I actually find that the rudder helps a bit especially last minute (second :) )
  20. Right now I fly the Su-25 and Su-27. I follow the proper glidescope as indicated on the instruments. However I find the airbrake and increased thrust (75-85 % RPM) gives the plane a bit more "stability" in terms of glideslope and speed. The moment I touch down I set the thrust to 0 and deploy the parachute. When I land my vertical velocity is 3m/s or less.
  21. What is the general convention for airbrakes during landing? As of late I've been using them more and using more thrust to compensate for the drag. I find that it gives be a bit more control over speed. However I'm not sure if that's the "correct" way to do it. Any definitive guide for this?
  22. I've been doing the Su-25 training. I find that aiming the rockets and guns is really difficult. Any suggestions on how to keep the aiming reticle steady on the target? Should I change my joystick curve or should I trim more? What about wind? Really curious how to do this right since it's frustrating when I keep missing the target with these weapons.
