IIRC Razbam said they would roll out features for the mudhen in roughly chronological order (please correct me if I'm wrong). Anyone know how far they got (ie the year, block, suite or any other identifier)? Wait for the server maintenance...

Contact support.

And my personal favorite, obiter dictum...
-
I assume the ‘silence’ you speak of on RZ’s part is specific to the time since the radar bug became apparent, because I believe earlier in this process he and his employees (or ex-employees) were rather vocal
-
You're just trying to discredit us because *they* have got to you! FAKE NEWS!
-
Yeah, I think I know that word, in fact I deleted it from my first draft for that reason and couldn't find a way to say it without it amounting to the same thing.

Razbam have more to lose than anyone from advertising that there's a reason to expect their products to break. They are better off with as few of their customers as possible knowing about the suspension of support, and this is the equivalent of a big neon sign. I definitely get being cynical about Razbam right now, I'm extremely cynical about them myself, but doing this deliberately just doesn't make sense. That said, it would certainly be a nice show of good faith (towards the customers) if Razbam were to patch this one issue. They could spin it as something they overlooked that was meant to be done in the final patch before suspending support, and therefore consistent with the intent of their suspension (maybe a reach), but I think the dispute is probably past the point where that would happen now. Who knows if the appropriate staff are even still employed by Razbam.

When you say 'POLITELY', you mean 'PROFANELY', right? I'm kidding, of course. For reals, the poor people processing refunds are probably getting slammed almost as badly as our mods. And after all, they *are* still providing support...

Hopefully, rumors of its demise are greatly exaggerated. Hopefully...

Your microwave, your tv, your car... Edit: I should have added 'phone' to that list. I just checked my call log and called some of the unfamiliar numbers... my iPhone is one sick puppy!

Anyone checked if the MiG-19 radar works as of the 14th?

*Laughs and spreads wings* Edit: In the absence of Iron Maiden, I hope Black Sabbath suffices.

Look on the bright side: If you want a distraction from the Razbam drama you can always focus on the election

At 77 pages this thread is pretty unwieldy, and it shows with the way the same things come up - it's too long to reasonably expect people new to the thread to check if their questions have been answered or comments have been made already. A new thread with the relevant information upfront might be an idea.

@Rainmaker Mistake is mine, I saw a previous post in this thread speak of you as an SME for Razbam, I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a non-employee SME at the time.
-
Gotcha, thanks for the clear answer and apologies for the mistake.
-
Hi Rainmaker, just a friendly request: I believe I saw someone mention you were employed by Razbam, are you willing to state if you are still employed by them? You are free to decline or ignore the question of course. Edit: To clarify, whether you are or not I acknowledge you have as much right as anyone to comment here.

Is that in ED Miles? Sorry
-
Amongst all the talk about MCS this was my biggest question: What happened to TBS? Thanks for explaining that.
-
You could always keep your phone nearby and talk to Siri... She's suspiciously non-committal when asked if she farted...

I didn’t go back to the post you replied to, so I didn’t realize you were specifically asking about ED modules. I think you’re overestimating the mudhen’s launch state if you think it was in a better state than the Hornet on day one - tbh I don’t think it’s even close - but that is a matter of opinion I guess. Edit: I'm judging that by the state of the mudhen now compared to day 1 F/A-18 - I actually bought into it after this issue got live. Not really fair for me to keep weighing in as I did without being in the hot seat myself. Maybe my judgement is affected by time and my experience with the EA Harrier. I don't think so, but it's possible. Edit 2: Since I've had so much bad stuff to say, I will add one good thing: The manual is a *much* better effort than the Harrier. Glad this job went to BD early this time.

Ok, no that wasn't quite what I meant - just to be clear - I'm not suggesting that there was some sort of crime committed, I haven't even seen a claim like that let alone put any stock in it, so thankfully we can exclude that. Would they Razbam have grounds for a claim? For the sake of answering I'll assume ED have conceded that there has been payment withheld (maybe I just haven't seen the right post): that would be grounds to mount an action, for sure. Then a determination would be made about who owed what to whom and we could move on. I definitely didn't mean to imply that there was some secret RB feared would be outed, just that they might not feel confident about getting as favorable result as they would like. I had actually taken your post talking about the separation between DCS and MCS as tacit acceptance of the claim referenced in the post you were responding to, but ok, I see your point on that, on reflection I probably took that a little far. I should have left it at something like "Whether or not the DCS EULA was violated isn't dependent on the potential customer having another option available". I'll add a note at the bottom of the post to that effect too. I haven't seen a specific statement from anyone on the supposed IP breach - or even a direct allegation one occurred - so I agree those details aren't clear.
-
When someone mentioned the supposed EULA violation you responded by talking about the relationship between DCS and MCS being muddy. I simply pointed out that a relationship or lack thereof didn't make any difference. I have no idea whether the rumored breach actually occurred, which is why that little word 'if' is in there. The only thing I'm taking as a fact is that Razbam have said they won't maintain their modules. The statement that followed from Prowler didn't actually contradict that, it said that it wasn't their intention to abandon the modules. That doesn't mean they'll be doing any maintenance any time soon either. I don't love non-payment happening in the business world in general but it is common and the possibility is foreseeable. Being prepared to meet the costs of legal disputes and collecting money owed from uncooperative parties is something any reasonable business factors in from day 1. So working with your what-if: Are you really suggesting that ceasing support of Razbam's modules instead of bringing timely legal action might been done with the customer's best interests in mind?
-
If EULA disputes were ever something for the public to vote on, there would be no such thing, but of course they do exist, and they exist for a reason. And if someone isn't being treated properly by the other party in a contract they can always take that to arbitration - if they don't, that's usually for a reason too
-
If there's another violation by someone else then absolutely, that should come out into the open. Of course, even if that were true, it wouldn't change the circumstances of the current dispute.
