Hope it's ok if I piggyback here I'm getting this too, same DCS version. Multithread and regular. I do have Oculus software installed, error happens whether or not it is open or headset is plugged in. I can't find the log, could you please advise where it is likely to be? Edit: Nevermind, here it is. My system spec: Intel i7-12700F PNY Nvidia RTX 4080 MSI Z690 Carbon Wi-Fi Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus 1TB Samsung SSD 980 Pro 2TB G.Skill Trident Z5 C36 32GB DDR5 Windows 11 Home If you need to know anything else please say so. dcs.log

Many thanks for the insight actually_fred

There are two types of seasons, one’s called meteorological and I forget the other. One of them follows the calendar months you just mentioned, the other runs later and follows weather patterns instead of the calendar. So when something is announced as arriving ‘during winter’ you go with the later dates unless they specify otherwise, since it’s still ‘winter’ until both have passed. I’m sure someone else can explain it better. I’m in Perth, and I can say our late spring has been effing boiling!

Cool, maybe ‘many’ but not all, noted

Thanks! I just downloaded OpenKneeboard, I'll check it out Ah ok cool, good to know, much appreciated

That’s the perfect solution, I’ll go get that program, cheers

One of the featurees mentioned in the F-4E description is "A new versatile set of UI features, that allows for live in-cockpit browsing of the manual". Today, for the first time in VR, I tried a cold start following the procedures from the F-14 online manual, and I realized just how valuable that feature could be. As things stand, the only way I can see to follow anything in VR is to have it on a second device (in my case an iPad) and try to read it through the few millimeters of space under the edge of my VR headset. So, I was just wondering if there are any plans or aspirations to bring that feature to older Heatblur modules as well. If not, fair enough - I see why you might need to draw a line under new features in old modules - but if you did I'm sure I speak for many VR users when I say it would be greatly appreciated. On that note, do any other VR users want to share how they deal with following manuals or other documents (eg self-written procedures) in-cockpit? I had written a bunch of notes to follow in the cockpit when I was using a flat screen, but I doubt those will be much more than a distraction in VR...

As everyone else has said, and as you well know by now, 'by the end of the year' has changed to 'Winter'. Obviously, that means it may or may not come this year. The way you're repeating yourself and now shifting ground, this looks like trolling to me. Take what I and everyone else who has responded has said, or don't, but either way your question has been answered repeatedly.
-
And that has since been corrected - repeating yourself because you want them to repeat themselves isn't any more convincing.

Giving a new release window is telling us.

Purchased (a couple days ago actually), so glad to see these guys get here. The pre-order announcement trailer, like all Heatblur's trailers, speaks to such high production values it would have felt wrong to stop and think before pulling out my wallet. Obviously doesn't make a difference to me, but I am a little surprised that the DCS store doesn't seem to mention the expected EA entry during Winter 23/24. Anyone know why that is (or have I just missed it)?

When @Cobra847 gave an ETA of this year I believe he was speaking in good faith, and I think he was speaking in good faith last year when he said late in the year that there was still a chance of making it during '22. However, what this means is that any attempt at prediction is probably meaningless now, he's given us his best guess twice and it hasn't been terribly close to the mark (unless they do unveil this in the next two months). I know it would be nice to see Heatblur comment on this themselves, but I think we can safely say that at present no accurate estimate can be made, so we just have to wait for the first looks at the office to get the hype train rolling. Here's hoping Cobra comes out, calls me a ph*ckhead and announces the start of presale.

Reading the white paper and looking at the comments on RCS fluctuation. I'm a little confused and hoping someone can tell me if I have this right: I think this is acknowledging that IRL RCS fluctuates, so in order to make detection range and probability more variable the RCS value will change randomly per dwell within a set range (according to exponential distribution). This is *not* saying that RCS in-game will now vary depending on aspect. Have I got that right or do I need to has better math? I'm not trying to be an ashhole, I know variable calculations can spike CPU usage if the parameters are too broad, so if RCS based on aspect isn't something that fits DCS right now I understand, I'd just like to get it clear in my own head.

I think that’s me, sorry

I understand the frustration with this more than most DCS modules, given that HB had been hopeful late last year that they would be able to enter EA in Q4, and here we are in Q4 a year later. However, @Cobra847 might not want to be more specific than he has been for the same reason: the unique factors affecting this release have rendered it impossible to accurately estimate how long anything will take. We may have to settle for 'on or before December 31', and I think we should be prepared in case they can't make that window, because no one knows what this year's winter will bring. As keen as we are to get the product in our hands, I'm sure Heatblur are just as keen to start recouping their expenditure, so I'm sure they'll make it available ASAP, whenever that might be.

Cheers, much appreciated. I'll stop being an ass and give them the benefit of the doubt, here's to #phantomtwentyphree

I didn't know (not that I tried to find out) HB affirmed this year, I hope you (and they) are right. Any rough idea of how long ago they said that? I guess the golden rule is to curb one's enthusiasm, at least until we start seeing the vids...
-
I guess it's that time again... So, anyone want to take another crack at when we'll see the start of preorders and/or EA? I'll guess preorders start Q1 '24 with EA starting in Q2...
-
Maybe they got 72 hour passes because everyone's eyes will be on N2 for a while?
-
Thanks for the additional detail, I understand, I didn't have the vocab for it but I guess that's what I meant to ask
-
Is this unique to the F-18? Either way, I could def see the utility of setting a wingman to initiate their cold start sequence once the player starts his engine to make sure the AI doesn't leave them behind...

Any module we buy in Early Access gets the standard 'everything is subject to change' disclaimer, meaning the 'release' state product might be quite different to that described during EA, as one particular (non HB) module taught me. I'd sooner back a HB module Kickstarter than buy an EA module from any other DCS dev again.

I have been through the first few pages of threads in the Viper sub and I haven't seen any mention of Flight Model (FM) or the radar refactoring for some time. I would appreciate someone filling me in on: 1) Whether major changes to the FM are anticipated or required, outside of the normal ongoing tweaks, and 2) Whether the tuning for A-A that was mentioned for 2023 and the radar refactoring underpinning it has happened or any schedule announced Thanks H

This isn't the wish list, but if you're just expressing a desire I have no issue with that, and FTR good luck
