-
http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views look at the "customising default view" directions

dont get a logitech extreme 3d. that was the joystick i had when i first started playing and hated it. thats the reason i upgraded to the saitek x-52. so much better. wish i would have gotten the x-52 pro version now though.

what everyone has said so far, read the manual. i put it off and put it off.......but glad when i finally read it. throw yourself in the fire, dont be scared to learn something new. and if you dont know what it is, google it. tons of little tricks out there that help set up custom snap views.....this helped me a lot since i dont have track IR. i use facetrack NOIR which isnt nearly as good a product....but it works and is free. i set up custom snap views for radios, ILS and light panel, CMS and caution panel, right MFCD, left MFCD, and a zoom view of the HUD. i also made one for the CDU as well. get online and find yourself a new joystick. i bought my used saitek x-52 for 65 bucks or something. was totally worth it. but play the game a bit and make sure you'll stick with it before buying gear. and mentioned before.....trim trim trim. you drop a bomb or shoot a missle from this plane and you'll immediately need to trim

no worries. its becoming way more complicated than i was hoping.......swept under the rug....thanks again shagrat. and thanks for the heads up on rcntrl+enter. didnt know about that

nice. look at you -
i remember hitting F2 and had a look at the outside of the plane. the right aileron was stuck in the up position while the left still functioned like it should. i played with the emergency panel a bit while headed back to the airport. nothin seemed to help. in fact i've never played with it before. i only had an idea of what i was hitting. i printed out an emergency checklist type thing, havent read it yet. does the regular campaign have random failures enabled? edit: oh and i use the twist, no rudder pedals yet. the rudder wasnt the issue.

thanks taproot -
thanks shagrat. i thought it might be a joystick issue, i unplugged it, plugged it back in, and checked the SST software to see if there was a button stuck, there wasnt. it was also showing zero input from the axis. which is why i thought maybe it was a failure of the plane. i did try hitting the t/o trim button which did nothing.

just to update, i didnt get to fly much over the last few days. busy. did some refueling tonight and did really well actually. i'm getting it. i think the biggest issue i was having with that one mission is the wind and turbulence that is in that mission. getting better though. and thanks for all the input. -
i should also mention that i had zero warnings on the caution panel
-
so i was flying a campaign mission the other day. i hit my snap view and looked at a MFCD only to come out of it to see the ground spinning in circles and coming fast. i pull out of the spin and level off. but every time i let off the left roll with the joystick my plane would start rolling rapidly to the right. in the cockpit i could see the stick pulling to the right. not sure what happened. its like the right aileron was stuck in the up position. what was wrong with my plane? and can i fix it? i didnt take any fire, not sure what happened. i'm guessing a random failure. i managed to land the plane with only minor damage to the landing gear. so it wasnt a total failure

look up the flight manual. there is some info there. the 9-line is a 9-line form basically with all the info you need to know. also, you have to read the 9-line back to them and remember to IP inbound (through comms). then they will tell you youre clear to take out the target. shouldnt yell at you then if you're using the right weapon.

i have an x-52. its not nearly as solid as the TM warthog. everything i have read about the x-52 and refueling is lots of curvature. i dont think my throttle is as precise as a TM warthog either. thats pretty awesome of your daughter. mine would want to sit in my lap and take the joystick from me and eat my cheeseburger -

i dont understand how you can have such precise control.......i definitely need to add more curvature to my stick. how are you keeping the throttle under control? you guys use rudder at all to do this? and are you saying you're eating a cheeseburger while you do this? -

right, that crossed my mind. think the throttle will be rough to control too -

i am a dad though, so my daughter eats up a lot of my time. so i wont be that good at refueling. i'm thinking i may have to try more curvature as well.
