Run the sim, press Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up task manager processes tab. If there is a *32 after dcs.exe then you're running the 32bit exe, if there isn't then you are running the 64bit exe. found that on a different forum

maybe update to the newer version of DCS? not sure......go through the options on facetrack and check those out. it should start working automatically. you shouldnt have to set any options in DCS to get it to work.
-
i'll take a beer. lighting is a big factor when using facetrack. i had to go buy a desk lamp and set it on the top shelf of my desk so it will shine light down onto my face. play with the curves, and give it some "deadzone". it helps. you can google facetracknoir curves and you should find some pictures of people's curves they setup.

ok here, lets start from the beginning install version 1.60 which i'm assuming you did download the 64 bit .dll file from this link (called eagle dynamics API interface DLL) http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/information_links/download.htm now extract the headtracker (from the eagle dynamics API interface DLL file) folder to this location C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin now open face tracker under profile click load find the DCS_A10C.ini that was extracted to here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\headtracker make sure the tracker source is "Face API" and game protocol should be "Freetrack" open DCS and it should be working properly
-
when you open facetrack........you need to load the DCS-A-10C.ini profile. did you do that?
-
C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\headtracker here is the folder files where i put the DCS_a-10C.ini file did you download the .dll files from here? http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/information_links/download.htm

there should be instructions with facetrackNOIR. if i recall you need to drop a file into the eagle dynamics folder, then after opening facetrack, you need to load the "DCS_A-10C.ini" under profile, tracker source should be "Face API", and game protocol should be "Freetrack" you dont set any options in DCS to set this up, should happen automatically. let me do some "recalling" really quick and i'll get back with you. i'm not familiar with windows 8 unfortunately

tips and tricks are always welcome, glad you brought it up

for your CH stuff david........cant you set a deadzone to get rid of that spiking?

TMS aft long sets steerpoint as SPI Edited.....
-
SPI Command Functions Set Sensor as SPI – This function allows the TGP, TAD, Maverick or HUD to define the SPI. TMS Forward Long. Select HUD SPI submode – If the HUD is selected as the SOI (default) and this function is selected, the GUN and CCIP pippers act as the SPI (depending on the HUD Mode – if NAV or AIR-to-AIR mode this makes the steerpoint the SPI as well). TMS Aft Short. Slave All to SPI – Upon command, all active sensors will track the current SPI. If a slaved sensor can no longer track the SPI, it will either track the last known position or return to boresight. This can happen if the SPI source is changed or a SPI tagged TAD symbol is changed. However, a sensor can be set individually to track a different target/object but the remaining sensors will maintain track on the SPI. China Hat Forward Long

i think TMS up long (with HUD as SOI) makes the little box a SPI. because the HUD is a SOI. like the TGP. yeah.....i'm gonna go to bed and start reading the manual
-
you suck that boom
-
just to clarify because i am confused TMS long hold down makes SPI a steerpoint TMS short down (HUD as SOI) makes the steerpoint a SPI TMS long hold up creates SPI from current sensor correct? started playing real missions tonight and am struggling with this. i guess its time for me to read the manual

i've been flying all day and have tried different things with landings. i've come in pretty hot to get the gear and flaps down with the air brake........hit the run way with it still on. havent crashed yet not sure what i was doing before? maybe practicing ILS landings i guess. got into the habit of it. flaps in combat could be beneficial? never even heard of it
-
i feel ya, i can afford one, but i have to save most my money right now since, i figure, i wont go to work till march or so. uhhh, i was looking around ebay and you can get a PS3 USB camera for dirt cheap. you can also find "kits" to make a a IR headset to use with the PS3 camera. basically cheap version of track IR. looks like it works well. also, look up the snap views. it was helpful to me to view the MFD's, comms panel, and ILS/ lights panel. also good for a HUD zoom view.

supposed to on the A-10 also
-
thanks tharos. i did notice that anything over around 200 knots, you cant lower your flaps. built in safety i presume? but you can still hit the flaps at some point and then slow down enough to where they "automatically" deploy. i was mostly curious how you more experienced guys do it.......during multiplayer, when in a rush, ect.
-
ya that was much better
-
roger. thanks!
-
quick question about that vid....you slow down during the first turn.....then deploy gear and flaps on the approach after the second turn?
-
nice. i agree, faster and more fun. i'll give it a shot right now. watching that video makes me realize how bad my graphics suck. i need to update
-
what yurgon said. i play this game on a laptop also. it has a built in webcam. so i use facetrackNOIR until i have extra money laying around for trackIR. it's not nearly as good as trackIR but it works
-
i use facetracker's software that uses my built in laptop camera. it works ok, not nearly as smooth as TrackIR though. it gets me by till i find some money for TrackIR edit: its called facetrackNOIR

just out of curiosity, when do you guys normally slow down, deploy landing gear, and engage full flaps? do you do it early or wait till you are closer to the runway? i have been playing this game for months now and i'm still playing the training missions......just to dial in my x-52 profile and to become very familiar with controls before i start playing missions. i land every time just for practice. but landing takes a while cause i come in slow at a distance. thanks for all the knowledge you give guys
