i ran across this issue before. i found on the DCS wiki how to reset the default view. which fixed this issue for me. http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views

kind of like when you buy a new car or truck....you tend to start seeing a lot of them. or maybe you just didnt notice before. i remember playing flaming cliffs a lot a few years ago then saw the a-10 in the last terminator movie. thought it was awesome.

why didnt you drop the landing gear?
-
left you a comment on your vid on youtube explaining how to extinguish a fire
-
there you have it, damien proved what i said earlier....incorrect. and you were correct OP. thanks for the clarification. my idea of side slip is something else entirely
-
right rudder to eliminate side slide. when you make a left hand turn the plane wants to drop to the ground because your "lift" isnt working purely against gravity anymore. the lift is making you turn. so some right rudder during a left turn helps your plane fight gravity. vice versa for a right hand turn. at least i think so. could be wrong. and trust me, there will be a lot of things "i cant do" while playing this game. keep practicing though. its all about practice.

hahaha, you know, i frequent a lot of forums. i gotta say, the pissing contest here is superior to the rest. by the way, i've been flying FSX and doing the training missions and such. pretty fun little game really. it does lack in many departments but the fun factor is alright.

wow, where did this thread run off to?
-
i agree that they arent comparable on many levels. i was talking about the basic modeled stuff. cockpits, avionics, flight dynamics.......DCS seems top notch compared to FSX. i'm not looking to blow stuff up in FSX, i wanted to fly heavies just for fun. maybe do some cargo drops etc. i did notice the rudder doesnt control side slip in FSX. which almost made me crash into the ground at one point. that prepared simulation looks pretty good. might have to check that out.

i can see the value in FSX. i've been playing it a bit more. i've been really interested in the C-17. there is a freeware version for the C-17 which is horribly disappointing. but i found a paid version and its much better. the problem is, the flight dynamics are different between the 2 versions, which sucks......which one is more realistic? plus there are no missions for it......anywhere. all i can do is free fly, which i find boring. but i will be giving it more of a chance. i've put A-10C on hold for now until i get a high end desktop computer, big monitor, and track IR. at least i can use FSX to stay flying. thanks for the input guys

thanks for the info. thats sort of what i was looking for. i definitely feel like i didnt buy a "complete" product. and i dont want to keep screwing around with mods because FSX has caused my computer to crash a few times now.
-
i was curious about others opinions cause i havent really given the game a shot. i've played it less than an hour maybe. curious if people knew something about it that i didnt know.
-
so i picked up FSX due to the fact that you can fly the C-17. it sucks...... FSX sucks bad compared to what eagle dynamics has done. i feel this game is 20x better. the fact that DCS provides missions, a real manual, realism, and precision just makes me appreciate this game so much more. i havent played FSX all that much so far but from what i have tried, it doesnt compare. thanks ED. i'm interested to hear someone's opinion on FSX, good....bad? cause i'm about to uninstall it.

you can also enlarge the HUD font there is a thread around here somewhere. google it and you'll find it. "large HUD font a10c"

i'll give that a shot with the freetrack. good ideas. facetrackNOIR is much too fidgety. i have setup lighting to be the best that i can get but its still slow and unresponsive sometimes. it frustrates the crap out of me. i just want something smooth and effective so i dont have to use snap views so much. not only that, but just having a big monitor would be helpful. wont have to zoom in as much to see things. i do have an x-52. which is working out well actually. only issue i have is i had to add curvature to do refueling. i dont like having that much curvature. the plane flies weird to me and seems pretty unresponsive.
-
so i've gotten pretty good with the A-10C. i know i'm not as capable as i could be due to the fact i dont have track IR or a high end gaming machine. i'm using a laptop with a 19" screen and facetrackNOIR. which in my opinion, is garbage. it works, but not nearly as precise as track IR. to sum this up. i've sort of hit a block with skill advancement due to lack of proper hardware. has anyone experienced this same thing? i'm hoping by the end of this summer i'll have a high end desktop and a single (large) monitor to play this game in 1080p. i think i will enjoy this game a whole lot more when i get some hardware.

VMU triggers comms menu on final approach?
Maachine replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
my comms menu is all jacked up too. when i have incoming calls, it pops up and changes what i have going on. hate it. -
not sure on how to create a mission, but smerch hunt is a great mission to learn JTAC, entering coordinates, and even lasing
-
because the pitch of the plane ends up controlling speed (nose down increases speed, nose up decreases) and the throttle controls how quickly you fall out of the sky (more throttle means you land farther away, less throttle means you land sooner). its just the way the physics work. you get used to it after a while. edit: doh, didnt realize there were 3 pages on this thread.....haha hate it when i do that.

Tech reason for engines shudown after being upside-down?
Maachine replied to eFirehawk's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
i found this out as well the hard way too, except i was only at 5000 ft. i made a crash landing and survived though. that was cool. i thought "you know i could turn upside down and am able to keep my eyes on these tanks here . then i could just dive in for a gun run". yep, 10 seconds later, i had to crash land -
just to add to this, if your trim is off....autopilot wont hold. trim the plane.....turn on autopilot........then trim the plane to one direction. it will disengage the autopilot eventually. just like moving the stick will disengage the autopilot. even with the plane being trimmed up all nice.......i have issues with alt/bank hold shutting off if i let go of the stick too quickly after turning on autopilot. gotta ease the stick back into the center position.

shagrat, apparently i've given you too much rep. it wont let me give you anymore even though i've "spread some around". maybe one one of these new comers can give you some rep in my place.........

google "startup checklist a10c" or check the DCS website for a startup checklist. print it out for easy reference and once you run through the checklist a few times you'll learn your own way to start up the plane. i do it now mostly by memory. i just skim over the check list to make sure i didnt miss anything.
