the DMS, TMS stuff becomes second nature after a while. just look up the mapping for DMS and TMS in the flight manual. it will explain what each press does for each SOI. i printed it out and used it for a reference if i forgot what it did. i havent looked at it in a long time now because it became habit. best way to use mavs.......create a SPI using the TGP, then switch to mav mode and hit china hat forward long and it will slave the mav to the SPI. you learn that and it will become easy. -

i know i know, but as annoyed as i was with that f-15 crashing into the tanker, it was still pretty cool. thought i'd share the experience -

ok thats what i thought. i have tried to follow that a lot....just to keep the plane level. definitely helps keeping my eye on that for vertical movement. sounds like i have all the right tools.....just need practice -

i find that i struggle with throttle control the most. it seems like the closer i get to connecting with the tanker the more things get crazy. with throttle and stick movements. i've thought about just using trim to move around. i'll give it a shot since someone else mentioned it works. i know about the NWS button. thats how i figured out my fueling door wasnt open. and.... whats a TVV? -
yes everything i saw was an airborne "U". but scrolling though the externals views...i didnt see anything weird except for a predator. maybe a tanker perhaps? do they have radar?
-
i mustve screwed up somewhere else then....haha
-
if i recall correctly, you cant start engines unless you call the tower for permission first.

not sure. its a single player mission. computer controlled......probably a bug? i do have a training mission for refueling. i never fly it. just wondering if anyone had anymore tips for me besides telling me to practice. which it true, i do need to. -
ok so i have this mission, i take off and right away i need to get to a tanker to fuel up. my fueling abilities aren't that great. i'm flying and flying trying to get fuel and i realize i never opened the fueling door :dunno: i even got close to getting fuel a few times........ if the door was open. so i open the door......just about to get fuel for the first time in a frustrating 20 mins......f-15 comes flying right over the top of me, slams into the tanker, big explosion......airplane peices everywhere. i manage to get away unscathed. i quit the mission to see a message "your combat scores have been deleted for committing fratricide." WTF!? got any pointers to help with refueling? i know to concentrate on a spot on the tanker.....not the boom and i have curvature on my saitek x-52.....trimmed up nice and pretty....am i missing something else?

i agree, it seems like i get the "U" whenever a predator is in action

cant use snap views during missions, how to change?
Maachine replied to Maachine's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
that did it. working like it should now. thank you -
cant use snap views during missions, how to change?
Maachine replied to Maachine's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
i dont use the sticky, that isnt the issue. during that one mission the snap views are just different. they arent what they should be. in other missions they work just fine, so i assumed it was something the mission builder did. doesnt the host control snap views on or off for multiplyer missions? snapview.lua file controls that? although the fix that is mentioned in that other thread may help. i'll test it out right now. -
nevermind, an up close look at the RWR during smerch hunt is a U not a W. looks like a W from afar.
-
i have been downloading a bunch of single missions. i tried playing one just now but my snap views are off. is there a setting somewhere in the mission editor that will allow me to use my snap views?
-
well if you want to consider real life....if you get hit and both engines are on fire.....you call in a repair......you think the repair can be done quickly? doubt it....you roll into a base and cant fire up your engines......that means the repair will take much more time and you'll have to shut down the mission in real life.
-
i swear to god i see a "W" on my RWR. i'll take a snap shot of it next time i see it. i've seen it a few times on different single missions that come with A-10C. cant think of which missions off the top of my head right now. i want to say smerch hunt and one other mission.....
-
what about W? i asked this before and never found an answer.
-
there you have it. we got a nice sized group going. call us the flying empty beer cans
-
you guys in the states? where you located? i was interested in doing some multiplayer today in fact but didnt have anyone to try it out with
-
so either turn off the chatter, stand by and wait, or disregard the SEAD or CAP guys and try to accomplish the mission without their assistance.......
-
ya i'd read back the 9-line and after about a minute of chatter, it'd actually go through, then it'd be another minute or so before i get a response back. and sorry about the thread title, i see you changed it. my bad!

what could have happened is you had the autopilot on. the ALT/Bank hold doesnt like to go off easily when you input stick commands. path hold and alt/heading goes off easily. i just spent like 10 seconds battling the auto pilot before i realized what was going on.
