Thanks kindly all. Yea that's prob what happened, usually I can clear that with a short Left TMS on my stick but with keyboard n mouse only can be tricky if your not used to it and also I had my DSMS totally zoomed in so all I could see was the bottom left corner of my UFC showing the 8 numeral and a few others. I prob just missed the input error on my HUD. I'll try again and see what I did. Flying without HOTAS throttle n stick is a pain the #%'! Cheers, G ;-) -

Thanks Hans that's awesome man! And that's what I usually do, just re enter a number and it changes so I don't know why it didn't do that earlier today. I'll try again soon when I get home. Cheers G. -
How do I clear an entry in DSMS using KB & Mouse?
GazAce replied to GazAce's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks guys and yep that's what I thought but the numeral I'm entering is not being accepted and yes sorry it was a GBU 12. The vid that you posted was barely legible but I could understand what you were doing. If you could post one so that you enter like I did 88 secs instead of 8 secs then save it, then could you show how to enter 8 secs again but this time could zoom into your left MFCD and UFC? But if not, don't worry, it's cool, I'll tinker around with it. -
Hey good pilots, Yest I took my LT into work was lucky enough to have some down time so naturally was flying my Hawg but only using keyboard n mouse which was a bit weird actually. Well I was setting up my GBU38 for an 8 sec lase when I mistakenly entered 88. I tried to clear this number using my UFC but nothing happened when clicked on the clear button or when I tried to re enter another numeral. Does anyone know how to get the number back to zero or clear it?

I would like to close this case now as the issue has been sorted and thanks all for your help in this matter. And yea ZM I do read and try what is recommended ok but sometimes when your bombarded with posts and info overload sometimes steps can be missed.

RE: Marking targets: Op Hammer Fall part 3 Thank you very much, that's very helpful. Now all I have to do is practice it first in a easier situation then when I'm confident I'll go into the lions den or the bears cave.. as I recently noticed ha :)
-
Haha yea EntropySG, this one is way tough and I fly around down there with night viz goggles on but it's weird cause I've had the all clear and thanks from JTAC a few times but when I RTB I don't get mission complete but I'm thinking it's because I haven't taken out the main targets. And I actually do use my wingmen who sometimes are helpful in taking out targets. Anyway I'll keep plugging away and eventually I'll get it but now I'm interested in learning this target marking system. Cheers thanks. peace out. G

Thanks man or should I say diękuje bardzo! Ha :-) Hey but how can I drop JDAM on a marked target through cloud? I guess I should try and find a tutorial for that one huh? I've just started with the JDAMs and I use the Auto Lase setting and set to 8 secs in CCRP mode. This has been really successful me so far but I've never used JDAM on marked targets yet. I've used mark points before (right TMS short or via my CDU) but only for navigational purposes. I don't understand how do mark the target? Do you have to fly over it then mark it and then how do you see through the cloud cover from say 10000 when your TGP is totally obscured by the cover? Hmm I need learning in this marking target business, sounds awesome tho.

Yes yes when I'm wheels up it manually aligns but it takes a while and last night I did a Ramp Auto start (Win Home key) if that's what you call it but this time I didn't touch anything haha. I waited till it totally finished which seemed like forever but the EAC light DID go out but then I did my normal Ramp Start which I do by the book but same thing happened.. EAC light remained on and only went out after a certain amount of time whilst I was airborne. I'm checking my CDU and see nothing flashing or anything unusual. I leaned the Ramp Start from the Training mission in DCS and I actually wrote it down in order word for word and eventually learned it off by heart, so now I'm thinking there's something along the way that I'm not doing correctly so tonight I'll do it with my notes in hand. It's no biggie but it's a hassle only cause I can't access my Autopilot which I love doing early on so I can relax and set stuff up in my cockpit. It's ok as long as the EAC light does eventually go out which it always has done. I recall one mission in Stone Shield I think it was where you have to Ramp Start within a few mins of the Airfield getting bombed big time. It was cruel, you were virtually taxiing with no screens and canopy open otherwise there was no time before you got wasted, forget bout EAC light or any other light for that matter your right control panel was like a Christmas tree ha! Well, I'll see how things go and try and find out what the hell I'm doing wrong. I appreciate very much to all who added their tips in this little dilemma. Hey and thanks kindly for the tips on posting tracks, I appreciate that. Cheers, peace out. G

Thanks Yurgs, appreciate that, I'll give it a shot tonight when I get home. And btw how many missions are there in this Campaign? I just finished Stone Shield and there were only 15, I thought that was a bit short. The Enemy Within Campaign is so far proving to be a little more complex and each mission seems longer than SS. I'm enjoying it but hate when I get stuck. I'm also bogged down in Georgian Hammer Push 9-1 man oh man that one is a tuffy, been stuck in this for ever and so wanting to progress cause there's like 12 more missions in front of it, which is pretty good value I reckon as that Campaign came free with the AC. I think there are over 30 missions. I'm hoping some get a little easier and not progressively more difficult. Still good fun though. Cheers, peace out. G :o)

Hey good pilots, Anyone remember Operation Hammer Fall part 3 in TEW Campaign? I've had like 15 goes at this night mission and boy it's mean. I'm now beaten into submission and using easy avionics mode and still crashing into mountains and getting shot down and stuff but hey here's the thing, I'm using both my wingmen and on the rare occasion when we do get the OK from JTAC "thanks fellas good job etc, I RTB and land but I don't get mission complete. What am I missing? I've done that a few times now. Do I need to take out all remaining enemy structures and targets or am I just taxiing into the wrong area when I get back? I'm kinda stuck, actually no make that freaken concreted. Well if anyone can recall this one and can lend a hand I would appreciate it, cheers.

RE: EAC light staying lit I'll try that when I get home, thanks man. I'm hoping that's what I'm doing wrong and that would explain why it's happening during the auto start because I always go 50/50 with the auto Win Home start to speed things up and that's what I usually do, load the data on left MFCD then press OSB 9 *NAV and not even looking down at my CDU. So now I'll wait this time. Thanks
-
Thanks kindly all for advice and input. Yes when I go through all of the Rampstart in order, I press NAV after I do the 15 secs data load on my left MFCD. I also forgot to mention the EGI button just in front of my Stick doesn't engage when my EAC light is on and yes I have box ticked for syncing HOTAS at startup. And sorry dumb question coming.. I've saved tracks within DSC and played them but how do you go about posting them here or playing them outside of DCS? And what I will do is save two tracks, one in auto startup and one manually and btw it's usually ok when I go through the Ramp start manually but again it's kinda hit and miss, sometimes the EAC light stays on and sometimes not but as I mentioned before only for a while, around a couple of WPs. Last night forgot to time it but I was wondering from which point do I start the clock. Anyway thanks again.
-
Thank you for your reply kylekatarn720. I've tried several methods of taxiing and pre departure, waiting for everything to align and not, both have same results. The EAC light stays lit for at least a couple of waypoints but I haven't yet timed it so next time it happens I will take note of how long and see if that's consistent. It happens about 80% of the time, so quite frequently I reckon. I don't know why. Oh and also I check the EAC switch on my TM Throttle and it's always in the correct position. Well it's really weird and I'm puzzled.
-
Hey good pilots, I've got a weird one here. Whenever I perform my Rampstart or if I'm feelin a bit lazy and go auto.. Win Home. I notice on my right console the EAC light is still illuminated which is a pain because I obviously can't activate my Auto Pilot. The light then goes out after about 1 or 2 waypoints are reached, usually 2. I can't for the life of me find out why this is happening. It only happens after a Ramp or auto start. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there's a way I can stop it? :helpsmilie:

Announcement - new A-10C DLC training campaign
GazAce replied to baltic_dragon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks BD, this is going to be awesome, can't wait! :o) -
This is interesting and I'll just quickly pop my 2 cents worth in. BuzzU I recommend keeping the A-10C and progressing with it. Hey I'm no spring chicken either brother (55) and I completed Battle of Stalingrad IL2 and not long ago purchased Battle of Moscow but since I've started with A-10C a few months back I'm not even interested in anything else. Yes it's not easy as I was kinda spoon fed in the past with DCS SU27 and when I became interested in the A-10C I thought omg I'm never going to learn all this mouse clickable cockpit stuff. I bought a TM HOTAS Throttle and Stick and I tell you it's one of the most rewarding pieces of equipment I've ever bought. The A-10C is a beautiful aircraft to fly and learn in and it's weapons and navigation systems become easier to use the more you practice. And this forum is awesome with lots of helpful peeps here and the Utube support vids like Bunyap Sims On The Range can greatly speed up your learning curve. Choose the A-10C brother and you'll be completing missions, campaigns in no time. I was undecided like you at one stage but now I'll never look back. I personally think the Warthog is worth way more credit than it gets actually and I absolutely love it, yes it's challenging and sometimes even frustrating at times and your bound to get stuck in a mission or two but the fun and rewards are so very much worth it. Peace, out :o)
-
Thanks heaps fellas, that's the way I did it actually. I completed Stone Shield and it was such a great campaign but only 15 missions.. too short. I'm so stuck in Georgian Hammer campaign.. mission Push 9-1 and also completely locked in The Enemy Within: Operation Hammerfall part 3 .. it's that night mission where you smash into mountains wearing night viz goggles.. sooo dam hard this one. Anyway if anyone can recall how to get through any of these, I would be much obliged. The Hammerfall mission your advised to take or already loaded with GBUs but I'm not understanding how you can use them when the cloud cover is between around 10000ft and 12000. The whole mission completely escapes me and I think I'm into my second week now of failing both of them and I fly every day *sigh*. Still, totally loving the HAWG and my TM HOTAS Throttle n Stick. I have no life and I like it :o) Oh and I've been checking out Bunyap Sims On The Range uTube clips, man that guy is awesome! If your reading this Bunyap, thanks a bunch, I've finally got the Mavs and Laser GBUs down pat and also big thanks to help from kind souls in this lobby. Well, back to smashing into mountains I guess.

Ah yes thanks Kel, I understand the keyhole now a bit better now and I notice the slew rate there as 3.0, I usually set mine to 2.0 although that's just a habit I got into from the training tutorial as I'm not entirely understanding that whole slew rate concept. Anyway I'm having much greater success with my MAVs at the mo and at the risk of sounding a bit weird or unorthodox I'm doing it like this.. I use the Boresight of the MAV (after I AFT China Hat long to re center it) seeker whilst TGP MAV is SOI and then steer the nose of my AC and the Wagon Wheel that's stationary towards the target that I choose, then I quickly slew using , . / ; whilst steering onto a target I see whilst cross hairs fill my MAV TGP , its funny cause the cross hairs lock beautifully with a flash or two then I let em have it and funnily enough It's working as I'm getting pretty quick at it, although for me that method is much better for moving targets and hey get this in # 12 Stone S I took out a low flying Rotor I thought was some fast moving vehicle but when I F6 to see whoaaa!! This helo got MAV splashed ha! was a nice surprise,I had to save that, even tho well, my wingmen got shot down and eventually so did I ha , tricky mission that one but the MAV issue is ameliorating pretty well. Again thanks kindly all for input

RE:MAVs Thanks a bunch Fee, much appreciated. I'm in the midst of #10 Stone Shield and slowly getting closer to accomplishing. It's a little beauty actually, you work with Spec Ops and first take out a sniper's nest in a building then CAS for the team to escape. I've discovered that changing the load out to increase my MAVs ( cause you only get two which is crazy ) and then using them by manually slewing onto the moving targets after re-centering the bore sight, it takes a little practice as you have to keep your AC pretty stable and all within min time before you get shot at but I think I'm getting the hang of it and it's starting to pay off. I just have to be careful now of which MAVs I can use for this. Although nothing beats locking on from distance to fire and forget. They are a finicky weapon and one that needs attention to detail and focus ( for me anyway). I just want to find a method that is relaxed and not so rushed and of course gives me a high success rate. Thanks again kindly for all tips, very grateful.

RE: MAVs That is a really awesomly good tip, thankyou. I did not know that
