  1. I have the feeling that the stutters & game freeze are somehow related to map resources loading. It feels like there would be different levels of detail for map resources. Often after taking off, I get some minor stutters, especially if I look around as I gain altitude. This is kind of annoying, but not really a problem atm. Then it kind of evens out and runs fine. I fly a bit gaining altitude, everything is running fine. After a while I have flown to a different area of the map and start some aerobatics or a dog fight or attacking ground targets or pretty much anything that involves rapid view changes / zoom level changes / altitude changes / course changes, I get some stutters. Sometimes a complete game freeze. So, yes, sometimes I just get some stutter and then it runs just fine. Kind of feels like it has loaded some map resources and is then running fine again.... BUT, then again after a while it has to load something else and I get stutters again. Sometimes a complete game freeze. In general, I feel I get a major stutter or a complete game freeze couple of times per hour, which pretty much takes all the fun out of this game for me. Just hoping the devs are aware of the issue, can reproduce it and will fix it. If anybody has any meaningful suggestions, please let me know.
  2. just a short update; I still have the game stutter and complete game FREEZE issue. Easily couple of times per hour. Just fly some acrobatics and look around (like during a dog fight). Does not matter what settings, single player or multiplayer, empty map or map with action. Very frustrating. Logs attached. In this example some stutter, then complete game freeze. Had to kill DCS from task manager. Burning Skies server. Logs 2x gamefreeze.zip
  3. Another DCS crash. Burning Skies server. Logs incl. crash dump attached. Crash looks new to me; ACCESS_VIOLATION at B9BA4CCD 00:00000000 00000000 00000000 0000:00000000 B9BA4CCD 008FE540 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\bin\nedmalloc.dll nedindependent_comalloc()+7D Logs21.zip
  4. Just for the record. I'm still having these problems. Game freeze with DCS/2.1.1.9429 (x86_64; Windows/10.0.15063) Typically I get a complete game freeze about 1 - 2 times per 1 hour of flying in Normandy. Attached are my logs, dxdiag, screengrab from MSI Afterburner showing 2.5 minutes game freeze. Then the Burning Skies server timed out and I was thrown out of the game. Included is also HWInfo64 sensor log during the gameplay. I have not been able to identify anything wrong in there with my system. The logs also include a DCS Crashdump from earlier today; please fix Logs20.zip
  5. Ah, finally! After tens, if not hundreds of crashed and game freezes, I finally managed to benefit from one.... Thank you ED for making this Spitfire pilots game freeze, so I could bag him :megalol::megalol: P.S. Devs, you may still go ahead and fix the problem.
  6. To stratman59; I understood from your OP, that you already have a quite capable system and you already have VR. Perhaps you should download DCS World 1.5 and try the TF-51? the trainer version of P-51 D. It is all free. No need to pay for anything yet. You can try it out and evaluate the experience yourself before deciding to purchase Normandy, WWII assets pack and the Spitfire you are thinking about. This would also give you time to wait for special offers on Normandy and the Spit in the DCS Shop. Just keep in mind that DSC World 2, Normandy map and Spit are still in alpha state and does not run as smooth as DCS World 1.5.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to go back and double check that. I did check with HWInfo64 logging all the sensors in my system when fps drops or game just completely freezes... and did not see any voltage drops, but that was few weeks back and I did not specifically pay attention LLC. Will check again.
  8. I personally have posted 14 times my logs of the issue occurring to me on this very thread. I have posted my settings, dx diag, frame rate analysis, screen shots, videos, descriptions of my configuration and steps I have taken trying to mitigate this problem. I have not seen a single response from ED here. I'm not frustrated with the Normandy map. I know it is alpha. I'm frustrated with ED communication with the community. If the issue is know, they should acknowledge it, say they can reproduce it and are working on it. If the issue is unclear to them, they should acknowledge it and ask for further logs / descriptions of the problem. I was on Burning Skies server today for about and hour. Had game freeze twice causing a disconnect during a dogfight. I have the logs, MSI Afterburner screen shot and some video, but I'm not bothering to post that stuff here as there has not been any kind of acknowledgement from EDs side for my previous reports. I'll just say; The problem is still there. Please fix it!
  9. I love DCS WWII stuff and it look like Eagle Dynamics is committed and this era will be awesome. Anyhow, please consider that DCS Normandy and the Spit are still alpha state. You might get luck and everything runs nicely, or you might get unlucky, it does not run smoothly and you end up just being frustrated. Where are we right now? I think on the right path, but there is still a long way to go. Exactly how long??? unfortunately ED is not sharing their timescales with us, so can't comment on that. ....and based on my about about 3 years of experience with DCS, I would not trust their timescales if they would be sharing those :P To you questions; 1. I think yes, it will be. Actually, it is not that bad at the moment. Ai is workable now, it still does stupid / impossible stuff, but if you do not set it to the best possible skill level, it actually works kind of okayish atm. 2. I have Oculus CV1. I get good fps in Normandy. (see my specs below) I looks beautiful.... ,but everything is unstable with Normandy for me. Works fine for a while and then just bang! stutter and game freeze! No joy. Currently I use VR only in 1.5 version of DCS (old Caucasus map) to fly Helicopters. There is runs fine. 3. Yes, DCS mission editor is very powerful. You can create complex missions to your hearts content. It does take considerable effort to learn it, but I have not seen a more powerful mission editor in any other flight sim. for ED for their mission editor. Hope they can also stabilize it. It takes a SW Engineering degree in lua programming to understand some of the errors and crashes you can create with it, but it is good. Also this very forum is good help and there are some very helpful people here if you want to get in to mission editing. 4. The new damage model will be release when ED thinks it is ready for a release. I would not bet my money that it would be anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong. It is badly needed. I understood that they will do WWII stuff first. Unfortunately, timescales are not shared with the community. 5. Yes, that is no problem.
  10. Another example of game freeze; Single player mission. Furball, merge w a spit, look back and pull up.... bang! Unrecoverable game freeze. Stayed frozen >2 minutes. DCS shown as not responding in windows task manager / resource monitor. Game freeze occured within few minutes in to the mission. Mission Time stamp (RCtrl+Pause) showed: 161.856 during freeze. Had to kill DCS from the task manager. Gameplay as captured by nvidia shadow play; Mission file used, my in game settings, Nvidia Control Panel settings, logs inc. dxdiag attached. Dear ED, are you aware of these game freeze problems? are you investigating these problems? are you able to reproduce these problems? is there any estimated time schedule for fixing these problems? is there any more information that you would like to get from us players or any additional tests that you would suggest us to do????? Logs-16.zip Bf109 BnZ a furball.miz
  11. DCS/2.1.1.9006 still remains plagued by frequent stutter and game freezes. Simply unplayable to me. Played for couple of hours and had 3 unrecoverable game freezes. Below a link to the youtube video of last game freeze as seen by banditcam. Game simply froze as I was coming in for landing. Perhaps something like ~60 sec game freeze. Then timeout and I was kicked out from the server. Logs attached. Please fix. Logs-15.zip
  12. Wrote down the last 10 game freezes I experienced and they were all related to a quick change of view angel. i.e. - take off, get speed at low alt, pull up and look back - after a merge pull up and look back to keep an eye to the foe - attack ground targets, pull up, quick look back to see the trucks burning - dive on a foe, fire, pull up, zoom out and looking back - stall at hammer head on a Spit, spin around and look around to spot the Spit - dogfighting, tight turns and look up to keep an eye on the foe - zooming out while changing the view back to forward after a quick check six …. the list goes on like that …. Made a test where I flew around at Burning Skies server with TrackIR paused with F9 key, i.e. only default cockpit view looking forward. I did dog fight, I did dive to ground targets, I did B&Z a furball, but always just default view looking forward. Died couple of times as I could not track the enemies, but always just kept the forward view. The server was busy, people were joining and leaving the server but I did not freeze a game a single time for two hours. Enabled the TrackIR, went for a dogfight with P51, we lost some altitude, a Spit joins the party, looking around hectically to keep track of both targets and the game froze. That was less than 10 minutes of game play with TrackIR enabled. Also did a test with TrackIR enabled, but with the default TrackIR profile, instead of my more sensitive one that allows more quick change of view angle (more quick check 6) and additionally trying to be as smooth as possible with looking around and I did not freeze the game for an hour. Changed back to my more sensitive profile and were deliberately looking around aggressively -> game froze in the first dog fight I got in less than 10 minutes of game play. To me it looks like the game freeze is related to quick changes of view, like what you get when you are dog fighting or looking targets, checking 6, looking instruments, checking 6, ….. Just like in the video I posted some time ago in this very thread. Here I basically do some fighting, get a shot on a Spit, pull up and away checking 6, then keep the view forward for a while and then a quick check 6 and bam! The game froze! I also have a feeling that changes of altitude or the zoom level (i.e. level of detail of Normandy map ground displayed) might affect this too. What good is a combat flight simulator that allows only looking straight forward??? Hoping for a quick resolution by the developers, this issues has been ruining the gaming experience for far too long already.
  13. Thanks for the settings. Unfortunately also with your settings (and with trying to play around with the memory priority and cpu affinity) I still do get game freeze on the Normandy map. Attaching logs in case this would give any useful information to the devs. Here the DCS froze up completely. I killed DCS from the task manager after about 4-5 minutes of game freeze. Pretty much the same errors in the logs as in all the previous logs I have been attaching here. Logs-14.zip
  14. Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried earlier (perhaps 4-6 weeks ago) to set the processor Affinity simply via the task manager (both in Win7 or in Win10), but no help for the game freeze. I downloaded yesterday the process lasso and gave it a try. Unfortunately, no help for the game freeze. Still during what must have been 2-3 hours of game play, I had 5 x game freeze > 20 seconds. Sometimes I survived, sometimes not. Once I had to kill DCS from task manager. What kind of settings in process lasso are you using and claiming significant performance boots? I tried simply default settings, tried setting up both Track-ir and DCS to high priority and additionally tried setting DCS process affinity to 0,2,4 & 6 or 2,4,&6 or 3,5&7. No clear improvement. Still had a game freeze > 20 sec. It might be that there was a minor improvement for small stutter, but difficult to say based on just few hours of game play and playing around with the settings. Could be just a placebo effect, would have to do some more controlled and measurable testing to say for sure. Please note that I am not fps performance limited in my system, when it runs stably I have good fps. >75, most of the time g-synch limited to 100, with both GPU and CPU not running at 100%. To me the problem is game freeze or game crash and some minor stutter (which in my view should also not occur, but is of course just a minor problem at least until the game freeze and crash issues are resolved). To me DCS 2.1.1 game engine is still buggy and I’m waiting for ED development team to address this. So far no matter what settings or options or PC configuration I use, DCS 2.1.1 still stutters and freezes. If anybody has any recommended ways to resolve this, please let me know.
  15. I think the guys above are right, you are not supposed to / supposed to be able to use a license on different PCs at home. Anyhow, I have successfully done so. Simply by using one of the 10 activation's on one PC and an another activation in a different PC. Logged in on both PCs with my account and done a private multiplayer to fly together. Also Gazelle multi crew did work fine.
  16. Here is an another FPS graph based on data from Fraps. About 67 minutes of game play i.e. a bit more than an hour. Burning Skies server. During about an hour of game play 7 times FPS drops to Zero. Twice for more than 20 seconds, once for about 6 seconds, rest a second or two... and of course the flight ended in a crash due to a >20 second game freeze during a dogfight :( I keep dying more due to unreliable game engine than enemy fire.
  17. Still having these problems :( I know it's alpha SW and for sure it is worthy of its name. Very unstable. If I play for couple of hours I get several game freezes. Here is what Fraps Benchmark sees during a mission on the BurningSkies server. G-Synch'ed to 100. Fairly steady FPS around 100 - 80 and then a few bad stutters and then a complete game freeze. Game graphics engine just Froze for about 75 seconds until disconnected from the server. Logs, dxdiag and Fraps Benchmark output files attached. Fraps says; Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 52267, 617906, 0, 104, 84.587 I say; Still No Joy :( ...and unfortunately it has been like this for couple of months already. Logs12.zip
  18. It's reported, almost two months ago; https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=189825
  19. updated to new 385.12 beta drivers from nVidia. Still the same. Few minutes of game play and unrecoverable Freeze. This time on Burning Skies server, game froze and I timed out from the server :( i.e.still pretty much unplayable to me. Logs folder and dxdiag attached. Logs (11).zip
  20. Whereas I also do have a feeling that there seems to be some kind of relationship with stutters & freeze with people joining (or perhaps also disconnecting) multiplayer server, in my case I also do get stutter & freeze in single player e.g. Normady Bf-109 instant action free flight. Sometimes I can fly there trouble free for 30 minutes, sometimes I get complete game freeze within a minute or two. So, for me it is not only a multiplayer related issue. Most likely there are still several issues / bugs with the DCS 2.1.1 causing the stutters and freeze. Perhaps some with the generic graphics engine, perhaps some with the multiplayer aspects. b.t.w. I have tried several settings that I have found on the forums. Also what you have on your signature amazingme, so thanks for documenting those , but unfortunately nothing has worked out for me so far. I do sometimes get a good sortie or two without any problems, but most of the time it is unfortunately quite the opposite.
  21. Thanks for the suggestion. Double checked my control assignments, no double controls, nothing funny there. Removed all the unnecessary assignments, like some of the DCS default hat assignments for view controls, as I'm on TrackIR (or Oculus) so those are not used. Gave it a try and got first stutter within couple of minutes of game play.... and few minute later a complete game freeze. This lasted for what felt like an eternity, but was perhaps like a minute or so. Then Windows dialog DCS is not responding. Killed DCS from that dialog. No crash dump generated. Just a normal log file. I'm attaching the log here. Again log looks like :puke: full of ERRORs from DCS, mostly sound related but some graphics engine related too! I'm asking myself is this reporting of logs even useful??? No response so far from mods or devs here :dunno: Logs (9).zip
  22. ...or sorry, wanted to add the link on how to still update win 7 to win 10 for free if you have a licensed version of win 7. http://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/
  23. I used to have win 7 64bit and now very recently updated (for free) to windows 10. I did not notice any real improvement, but also have not noticed any big drawbacks either. Might have just as well stayed in win 7, but on the other hand someday MS will end win 7 support, so might as well update. On win 7, I used to follow this guide to setup windows for optimum performance, but I have understood that tweaking like that is not really required for good SSD performance since win 7 SP1. Anyhow, I find the guide informative and generally including plenty of good system optimization and maintenance tips. http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds Technically, two SSDs is a better solution. I did update from one to two separate ones a while back on a different system, but honestly did not really see a noticeable performance increase (apart from the obvious benefit of having physically more fast disk space) between one or two SSDs. If your founds do not allow two at the moment, you can always update later if you feel so. It is definitely an advantage to have windows on a physically separate SSD and games on an another one just from the system maintenance point of view.
  24. Here is an example of my game freeze problem as recorded by nVidia Shadow Play. After splashing the spit, I pull up and as I look back for the 2nd time at 0:27 the game froze for something like 30-40 seconds. This is shown only as a very short freeze on the nVidia Shadow Play recording. I assume as the game was not producing frames for Shadow Play to record. In reality, the game freeze lasted much longer (30-40 seconds). During this time the only a stationary image like 0:27 in the video was displayed. The sound was stuck on the engine humming at the time. No response on keyboard, mouse or controls. Looks like the game was still calculating my flight path as plane stalled out and crashed to the ground. The game graphics engine continued normally after the crash. My current settings, dxdiag and logs attached. The error occured arround timestamps 03518 - 03575 in the log file "dcs.log.old". see ingame chat texts in the video; before freeze; "Ranyer_Auate connected to server" after freeze; "RED player Coyote disconnected" A whole lot of ERROR messages in the log during that time! Hopefully the devs are working hard to fix this kind of game unstability. Makes really the game almoust unplayable to me. :( DxDiag4.zip Logs (8).zip
