Virtual JG-1 is composed of North American and European pilots. Established in March 1992 as a "Red Baron Online" group, JG-1 is the second oldest cyber-squadron active on the internet. Acting as a REDFOR (non-NATO “Warsaw Pact”) fighter wing, JG-1 concentrates on the "study sim" aircraft historically flown by the East German Air Force. Currently, these include the MiG-21bis, the MiG-19P, the MiG-15bis, the L-39 Albatros, and the Mi-8MTV2. JG-1 also actively flies and competes in events using the Mirage 2000C, the F/A-18 Hornet, the JF-17 Thunder, and the F-14A/B Tomcat.
