You took the wrong side of the argument, I've meant more the simulation limitations, like that our monitors have a worse resolution than our eye or we just can't feel the G. I've put already a few hundred hours in the Flanker after the patch and I think I will never be able to fly it at it's structural limit. I'm just wondering if this is easier for a real pilot just because he feels the aircraft. But of course, we adept and deal with it. Oddly enough that the broken wings patch increased my enjoyment and frustration in flying the Flanker.

But sometimes we have artifical improvements to make the game more accessible or to overcome limitations because it's a simulation. Like the cockpit zoom.

You don't need to fly around heavy, you can fly around completly empty and destroy the aircraft without any problems. Also you can only develop good habits with some kind of feedback. Just imagine for a moment you would insta G-Loc without the tunnel effect. It would be basicly impossible to develop a good habit other than watching your gauges. Why would it be such a problem to develop some kind of feedback in that sim. Would that be so unrealistic? Something like a buzzing sound when you are half a G away from total destruction.

1. It's not about historically accurate. The F15 never engaged the SU27 IRL. 2. Good idea, how about a '90 scenario with ER, ET and without AMRAAMs? 3. There is a reason why NATO vs Russia Servers are empty. Not because of airquake, simply because the numbers are just ridiculous onesided. Like last blueflag.

This is basicly the only complaint I have about that implementation. A small pull on my stick destroys the aircraft and if I don't watch my G meter than I have zero indication. Nobody would construct such an aircraft where you have to watch a gauge infight so your plane doesn't self-destruct.

Interesting, when I hover my mouse over the knop that is labeled decoy dispenser program, it says it's the jammer strength.

The FM isn't finished yet. It's lacking some/a lot of features. So stay patient. EDIT: Oh, I've read the definition know for EM. Seems strange that a seperate module wouldn't be simulated as accurate as the F15c or SU27. But whatever, I enjoy the M2k.

How is Datalink OP? I don't see a huge amount of SU27s on the server, so I don't think it's OP. Furthermore the SU27 has Datalink in reallife. Additionaly AWACS makes 3rd gen fighters more capable and increases the immersion. AWACS is also more realistic, simply because no relevant military power would deploy their fighters without AWACS.

Great film, thx. Too bad we can't slave the radar towards the EO, so notching against the SU27 would be impossible.

Yes, but that is also a little bit of guessing here. I'v noticed that when I have a contact that is jamming. It's way easier to put it that way on the gimbal limits, because I have a nice line than. When that is coming from you, I think it's my best bet. The other problem is that the radar antenna dot has an invisible circle where it can move without loosing lock, the HUD is a square. Just to clarify why I'm nitpicking here, I did some math on cranking, and the more you have already turned the more valuable the degrees are. The distance an incoming missile has to travel additionally is far greater between 70°-75° instead of 0°-5°. And I'm only talking about the distance you gain by the additional 5°.
-
That is what I've meant with antenna position. But there is no visual indication when the antenna can't move any further to the right side (for example). The limit is somewhere in the middle of the altitudes digits.

Hi guys, noob question. I have trouble to put my target at the radar limits without loosing lock (during cranking). In the F15 we have the clear boundary, but I'm missing something similar in the SU27. When I use the DLZ "Triangle" I'm not using the radar limit. Guessing seems a little bit too risky. Additionaly we have the radar antenna position in the HUD, but this has only a left boundary. So is there a method to put my target reliable on my radars limits?
-
Sorry to ask you that, but I don't know to test it myself. How are the relaxed controls (W) performing?
-
Wouldn't it be more interesting to do the same test with direct control enabled?
-
Interesting, thx for the responce. I've noticed that I have an easier time to kill with guns in the eagle, but I thought it might be the pipper. The flankers one feels jumpier.

When everyone would use steam we could get rid of starforce and have a great performance increase. I can wait for a great module. Really looking forward to it.

I'm not a red side flyer. The F15 is a real powerhouse, but everytime I fly OP Bison on the 104th I hear a lot of complaints about this bad mission. And it's not because blue pilots are worse, imo it's because blue pilots are not used to fly the F15 to it's strength rather than the amraam. I mean I understand this. When the amraam is available I go for 8 C's. But imo this doesn't teach me the aircraft. Everyone should simply fly what is fun for him/her, but besides the problems in this game that are artifical because of the way they are implemented, I have never read something that would make me belive that SARH's are better IRL than in this game (besides maybe the drag).
-
The problem in MP is, that nobody flies the Eagle. Everybody flies an amraam launching platform. And I don't know why you are bringing the gulf war into this, because the iraq didn't had ER's or ET's afaik.
-
The amraam is by far the hardest to spoof missile in the entire game. IR's from either side doesn't even come close. And let's not talk about SARH's, as long as someone on the planet deploys a chaff they will go ballistic.
-
I tried this with different fuel settings. Started with 40% fuel without weapons and in the last tests with 85% fuel and full weapons. FYI that is too much. For MP I just stay in AB until I've burned some fuel. And I'm fast because of habit? Prior to the last patch there was rarely a reason to be not as fast as possible. It will take some time to retrain mechanics. Another advantage of being slow is, that your notch corridor is wider. But I disagree with your last statement, simply because you can glide through the notch, defending multiple missiles with similar angle. As long as they are coming from the same launching platform I can't imagine that you can shoot them in a way that they are not notchable (this isn't even a word, is it). In the end, the defender is in control of the missile.

Holy moly Batman, notching is incredible. If done correctly you have a 100% chance to defeat the incoming (radar guided) missile. Now I have an additional question. With the new damage model you can either fly fast or pull hard. This makes the F15 so much more better in notching stuff it's like night and day. With the F15 I can pull hard and then glide into the notch. Unfortunately I like the SU27 more. So what to do? Should I decelerate with the SU27 to get a better handling and to reduce my workload (notching while monitoring your G)?
-
Thank you so much. I've spend the last 2 hours training against the A.I. without using chaff so I can easily check my mistakes in tacview. This is so strong. One thing that can be surprisingly hard is too keep your cool while notching. Thanks again

Thanks for the replies, so I know what I'm going to focus my training on. Any ideas for a good training method, or simply grind experience?

Hi guys, I have some trouble dodging amraams fired at close distance (5-12km). Assume there is no terrain and both fighters are around 3-5km altitude (starting condition at around 30km, I tend to loose some altitude when it's getting closer). I'm talking about MP and opponents that have an idea what they are doing. The maneuvers I try to perform are: cranking/snaking + easy to perform + pretty awesome against every missile shot at you ~20 km - too less maneuvering for anything closer barrel roll + seems to be the maneuver that forces the incoming missile to fly the furthest distance (besides going cold) + constant high G - I tend to loose a lot of SA (can be overcome with more training) - seems to depend on luck turning into the missile at the last moment - I'm pretty bad with this. I die to 11 out of 10 missiles. In the 11th case I break my wings. notching + seems to be pretty op and I have some success to find the notch when the missile is further away - when fired close I die too often What is the doppler notch speed for the amraams radar? mixing it up I try to mix some maneuvers, for example cranking left followed with a half barrel roll. Seems to be pretty ok, but nothing I would bet my life on. snaking towards the ground + I have good success with that even when the missile is fired at around 7km - I loose a lot of energy - is a pretty passive maneuver lure the missile into the ground + works pretty well - it really depends on the situation if it will work I've read through some real world stuff that doesn't seem to translate into DCS (for example you can't abuse the lack of information TWS provides) So to specify my question, what is my best bet to avoid an amraam fired at me at 5-12km while keeping the enemy aircraft locked (or at least stay agressive) and without the possibility to terrain mask?
