Can we have a Flashlight Please (for all Warbirds)
Rolds replied to Weegie's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
2025 and the spitfire still doesn't have flashlight "If ever there was low hanging fruit this has got to fit that description" Philstyle (RIP) -
Agreed, I get that this version is more accessible, and I get that not everyone has thousands of hours in DCS and high end precise hardware, but having both I now find it quite boring to fly.
-
I don't like the fm change, feels like there is an auto-rudder on now which I wish I could remove. I get that this is probably very personal and hardware dependent, I have a LOT of experience in DCS warbirds and MFG crosswind pedals, but I wish I could get the old model back even as a selectable option, it was the only warbird that felt right to me.

Carrier landing - game crash after hook catching
Rolds replied to paura19's topic in Bugs and Problems
Happened to me online anddcs.log-20250724-014943.zip single player. -
This is affecting my squadron as well, we are using custom liveries for the C47 and it makes the default liveries not selectable.

The A20's have stopped firing at enemy aircraft with their gun turrets, see tracks. Has something gone wrong with WWII AI internally? I am seeing a lot of problems that weren't there before I took a bit of a break from DCS. A20 turrets do not fire.trk A20 turrets do not fire 2.trk

I am trying to set up a mission where an A-20 will fly its track without deviation but will still fire back at enemy fighters if approached. Reaction to threat: Passive Defence, results in the A-20 maneuvering to evade fighters. Setting this to no reaction results in the bomber not firing at enemy fighters (did this change at some point?) What settings should I use to get the bomber to fly its flight path as long as it is able but still use its turret guns to defend itself? See attached mission, "TEST TEST" redfor aircraft. A friend and I did a night flight and found that the external lights appear to have a very short draw distance. Rejoining into formation was quite challenging. Notice in the last two photos I am looking down from my plane at the airfield, and while I cannot see the lights on my friend's aircraft, I can see the reflection of the light by the tailhook off of the ground. Could the visibility range of the external lights please be greatly increased? I am talking about a factor of say 100 the current distance, maybe even more. Thank you so much for the Corsair I continue to have the greatest fun with it!

JU 88's continue to fly indefinitely after crew bails out
Rolds replied to Rolds's topic in Bugs and Problems
@BIGNEWY do you have what you need on this? Any word on a fix? It is a pretty bad problem. -
My experience is it works in single player and when someone hosts on their pc, it does not appear to work on dedicated servers.
-
The feel, the visual model, the features, this one is special. I think the Corsair is the best warbird yet to be released for DCS! Amazing work.

Can someone please test with other vessels? I had torpedoes run under some ships without detonating and didn’t report it because I was using mod assets. Maybe something broke in a recent patch.

Here is a track from Marianas Furball, two of the FW190's went into the infinite loop on this occasion. Zombie Bombers III.trk -
JU 88's continue to fly indefinitely after crew bails out
Rolds replied to Rolds's topic in Bugs and Problems
This issue occurs more consistently when the bombers are shot down at higher altitude, as the orbits they take up vary in altitude and if they are lower it is possible they hit the ground. In this attempt you see both JU-88's become permanent gliders. The issue occurs with fighters as well but less consistently, I wasn't able to get one of the FW-190A8's to enter this condition in these trials, but it has occurred in other missions, and those tracks are too large to upload. JU 88's continue to fly indefinitely after crew bails out
Rolds replied to Rolds's topic in Bugs and Problems
Zombie Bombers I.trk I was able to get one to occur this run. By the way, this is probably the same issue that was happening years ago, remember this? About the time the B17 was first introduced. It was fixed and probably the fix got reverted out somehow in a recent patch: -
Ok maybe not a high priority but just because it cannot land on a CV doesn't mean other aircraft were never launched from CV's. As I understand it escort carriers (rarely fleet carriers, maybe never) would often stock up land based airbases this way. Would be cool if we had the option of starting a mission like that.

FM already feels great with a TM warthog+pedals, no extension. The pedals are very important.

I have a new theory I want to run by people, does the essex need to be the lead ship of any group (in other words, unit 1 of X in any group you place it in?) I just ran a quick experiment where I couldn't trap if essex was other than ship 1, but could when I re-ordered the ships so it was. I no longer think I have a map dependent issue, I have been able to trap on Marianas today.
-
Have you ever had the hook catch on Marianas or any other map? Does it work when you try on Caucuses?
-
I am pretty sure this is a software issue. I have not had a single instance where the hook engaged a wire on a map other than caucuses. I tried three times on Marianas WWII, then another two on Syria just for good measure. Then I go back to caucuses and I trap 3 for 3. This is the worst kind of bug, inconsistent, only applies to certain users, and I am one of them... I'm going to try running a repair.
-
This isn't a technique issue, the hook clips into the ship and doesn't interact with the wire sometimes. It appears to be map dependent and not universally affecting users. When you are just taxiing around on the Essex with the hook down I notice it clips into the deck and does not interact with the wires (caucuses and other maps). I bet this is having something to do with it. Wish I knew why it only seems to affect some users.
-
Contacting the Essex via radio is not required to trap. And I am still having issues with this which appear to be map based. I can now trap consistently on the caucuses training mission and a caucuses mission I created myself, but the hook does not seem to interact with the wires on Marianas, I haven't had a single trap there.
