FINALLY a HOTAS with FFB. The next step should be pedals with FFB.
-
If you decide to go with Intel, then get the i7 920. It's not "that expensive" and can be overclocked to 3.8 GHz with air cooling so that should be enough power for the near future. But as you mentioned, the downside is the additional investment in a new mobo and new RAM but since you have to do that anyways (when changing to an Intel chipset), go for the new one.

You you could check the Cockpit & HOTAS section of the forum. There are tons of threads about joysticks, pedals and HOTAS systems. I think the most popular devices are CH products (stick, throttle and pedals), the Saitek HOTAS systems (X-52 and X-52 Pro) as well as the Saitek Pro Flight pedals, or the Thrustmaster Cougar.

I'm still dreaming of a HOTAS System with Force Feedback... Maybe Urze will do an upgrade kit for the X52 like he did for the Cougar. But still, I'd rather use my X52 instead of another stick with FFB.

The part from 3:21 to 3:25 almost looks like real footage. Very awesome!

From what I've read, less sticks is always better, as the system has less work adressing them. It also kind of depends on your mainboard. Some boards just don't like 4 sticks. ATM I have 4 1GB sticks in my (quite old) Asus A8NSLI-Deluxe Board and haven't had a problem yet, but if you have the possibility, go for 2 2GB sticks. You'll also have the possibility to upgrade later on as you still have some slots left.

It's probably the best invention since the HOTAS! (for PC pilots of course) :D

I had to wait three weeks, so I don't think you should start to panic quite yet.

X52 Problem with WinXP x64
RobGordon replied to RobGordon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok, I have some new information concerning my strange X52 problem. When I start up my computer, I open up the Saitek Profiler and then I select the control panel. As of now, the 3 buttons I mentioned do not work, BUT! Last time I just started to press the POV2 in a circular motion and after some time, about 10 rounds, the buttons started working, all three of them. The strange thing is that I have to do this every time I start my computer. I really have no clue to what this could be. I'm running Vista x64 with the latest saitek drivers. -
I think that is correct. Check this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33948&highlight=night
-
Is that actually possible? To look outside the door with TiR?
-
Urze, you're the man! FFB for the X52 would be a dream come true! I just hope it's also compatible with the X52 non pro.
-
Yeah, I do, and it't not fixable.
-
Nice! Happy you're still alive! :D
-
Well if what you mean by FPS is running and jumping around, pulling out a 9mm from your holster and shooting nearby ground troops, then that is not possible, that's true, but you ca n walk around, slowly.
-
Very often it's the simplest things we don't think about! :D

I think the only way to get outside of the KA-50 is by ejecting (I'm not sure though) so getting back into the helicopter won't be an issue anymore. But after you have landed with your parachute, you can move around.
-
:D:D:D The KA-50 Black Shark Special Flash Edition, for the casual pilot!
-
You can do that only in the Saitek software. It is a very useful feature.
-
You can divide an axis into bands (segments). I did this in lockon with one of those turning knobs on the throttle (I think that's a slider though, not sure). I divided it into 8 bands and then assigned the different HUD modes to it, so when you turned it, it cycled though all the HUD modes. I think this is what sonic meant by bands.
-
Good question! Maybe it would be possible to map either landing lights or shkval slew to the mouse on the X52 throttle. Then ther would still be 3 POVs left for other commands!
-
Awesome review! :D I can only agree!

What happens if you run out of activations? Don't tell me you have to buy the game again!

Hi! http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/SetAffinity/index.htm Here are some alternatives. Set Affinity II should work with Vista. I haven't tried it mysef but I will soon. I'm running Vista x64 SP1. Cheers!

Graphics glitch when in cockpit & on the apron.

I'm actually a bit shocked that there's no solution at all for this.
