    AGM 154C

We are having a discussion as to the AGM154C Warhead. Does the missile "launch" the war head or does the entire weapon strike the tgt? Seems it is shown both way in the vids?
  2. KTFB. you are missing the point! as shown in Wag's vid on the AGM 154A, in TOO mode, he set the tgt by selecting a WP directly over the TGT. You only set the LaT/Long in PP mode. I think 9line is correct stating that the WP Altitude MUST me set at tgt altitude , and HT set for burst height, but I couldn't find any reference anywhere for that! BAD (or no) documentation is a hallmark of DCS it seems! :( I feel this is a BUG, or at least poor instructions form Sim trng vids!
  3. What I believe the altitude of a WP should be set to the altitude which the A/C should fly over that NAV point, say at 25000'. When using a WP as a tgt point( designated on HSI MFD as the tgt) that altitude remains 25000' and the 154A will not release it weapons. I'll send a trk file later
  4. 2 questions 1.using a waypoint as a 154A target, if the WP altitude is say 6000' MSL and the tgt is 50'MSL the weapon will not open. I have to set the WP altitude to the MSL of the tgt itself! 2. is that an upper and lower limit on the "HT" settings?:(

    AGM154A

I know they will open at higher altitudes (10000'+_) set in pit'. I thinks Wags said " it is set at default of 1500, lets leave it there". I can also get them to open around 900'.

    AGM154A

launch, from the weapons view! expecting it to burst at 300AGl if that is what I have set new question! Is there a relationship (if using a WP as tgt) between the Wp set altitude and Tgt altitude???

    AGM154A

I there a min altitude for the canister to open? I set the HT to 300' and it burst open at about 1000-1200?
  8. which weapon A or C?
  9. burst alt seem to be around 7-9000' no matter what the MFD says. Can it be changed, I have attempted, but unsucessful so far!

    lat/long

I noticed that the Lat/Long off the map, disagrees with the Lat/long in the A/C. I saw some post from last year that one or the other is in min and the other in decimal (even if it shows "). is that not been corrected?
  11. every RW a/c I flew in my 26years of military flying, all had "weapons check list". Why can't ED provide these. (excuse me if they already exist):(
  12. better fix. Set desk top res to same as sim res!
  13. FIXED!!! had to reset my display settings to 100%( have had it at 125% for years???)
  14. updated OB. when opening sim my mouse pointer is not at mouse position, displaced by about 1 inch. When attempting to open "settings" on UI page, keeps asking for "log in". log in but still have offset pointer. attempted to do a OB repair 3 times, same results.
  15. best I got was "gold eagle":)
  16. Lex, we agree again :)
  17. areas which are NOT covered by ATC radar, and their are LOTS of those!
  18. I agree Chuck! After a long flight a quick GCA gets you on the ground and to the O club ASAP! No procedure turn. I always backed up the controller with ils is available! :)
  19. Opinions. everybody has one!
  20. HUmmm! I have flown lots ILS approaches to min (300-400') in P2/P3/S2 and T28 a/c. Sure the approach of choice is GCA! The "needles" in the FA 18C are a bit "Off"!
  21. icls YEP:) I find the system in the DCS FA 18C a bit unstable in close. I have flown 1000's of ILS approaches, in the RW ( inst instructor for 2000 flight hr) and many in sims (FSX P3D and DCS) and this system is IMHO not working correctly!:(
  22. Land based ILS is a totally different system the ICLS.. Think if land ILS as VOR station with only one course beam. 1:Due to the CV having to be on different headings the ICLS system must have the capability to generate ALL course (LOC) lines 2: The coures (LOC) and glide slope "lines" must be gyro stabilized, else they would be all over the sky as the ship pitched and rolled. For automaitc landing systems(ACLS), the CV receives flight info from the a/c and ships approach radar, runs it through a computer then TX commands back to the A/C's Autopilot
  23. Lex and I agree!:) If you have ever been on the bridge of a carrier during flight ops, as I said, you would see the JOOD sweating as he kept checking the "real wind" and calculating the ships course to keep the "relative" directly down the angle! (Saw many ENS/LTjg's melt under the OOD or worse the ships CO having them checking the ships course) My time on the Enterprise, the CO was CAPT (later O7) Forrest Sherman Peterson, (first XO of CVN65 and former X15 test pilot). He had the capability to reduce a O5 to a wet pile of uniforms during UNREPs. All of the O5's needed the "alongside OOD qual" to look at O6! I saw the ships Nav Officer hide under the chart table when the CO commented on the O5's performance. I have other stories of him that would fill a book! Master of Verbal abuse!!!!!
  24. If so he knows better! Lex, when was the last time you trapped with a crosswind? Seems we agree on the basics... I also am a Naval Aviator, 26yr retired CDR,
  25. Lex, you have not been on an CV during flight ops I bet! The wind down the landing line is VERY important for several reasons: 1: It is not recommended that the a/c trap with a side slip component. 2: It is recommended that the touchdown relative speed is at a minimum for AG requirements 3: the lower the relative speed of the a/c to the deck allows the pilot better control 4: Trapping cross deck angle is bad So mim relative speed, no "slip", no drift angel are all very important: read att form NADC doc
