  1. If your used to greasing your landings in commercial planes, and maybe some other fighters, you'll have difficulty getting certified for the Hornet. Greasing a Hornet on landing, is a bad landing. Trust me, I had to recalibrate my thought process on approach too. The Hornet was designed to land as if it's a controlled crash on the carrier deck. The approach is the same for field landing.
  2. If you have "ZERO" plans to overclock, save a few bucks with the 8700.
  3. Posting a screenshot of your graphic settings will help.
  4. Haven't checked P3dv4 yet, but I'll update once I've tried doing the usual FPS related troubleshooting. If all else fails, I might just roll back.
  5. My PC just updated to 1803 last night. Afterwhich I started noticing some ghosting when viewing from within the cockpit. Normally very smooth viewshift (TrackIR 5), running on GSYNC, now is exibits some ghosting and microstutters but FPS remains 90+. I've checked that I'm not running on windowed mode, checked GSYNC is on. Running 2.5.2. I'll try deleting shaders and see if that helps.
  6. DCS Updater on the launch icon checks for updates once per day. To force the update, you can check your Start Menu Items, Eagle Dynamics, Update DCS World OpenBeta.
  7. I can understand some of the frustrations as some expectations weren't properly set, especially for those new to DCS and have not observed the pattern on as to how the updates and inflow procedure of new products. More so for the folks who opted to just keep a release version and not the OpenBeta because drive space constraints. I personally have learned to temper my expectations over the years of "growing" with ED. I have a bigger appreciation for any and all update, knowing I've been doing flight sims since the days of Novalogic, Jane's, FS9. Everything we have now is a luxury we could only dream of back then.
  8. Glad that did it for you. Happy hunting! In case you run into another hiccup, this forum has a lot of helpful folks that can assist you. Cheers!
  9. There are existing profiles for some that shared their profiles for X52 (just make sure you use the profile appropriate for your X52 as there is a Pro and a non-Pro). I used one for the Hog with complete cheat sheets and a graphical layout of the buttons. I personally try to map the buttons as close to how the buttons are in real-life, then map the rest of the most frequently used buttons/switches depending on the aircraft. The key is to learn how to fly the A/C first then the mapping becomes intuitive and you can decide what layout makes sense to you. That's why I find it difficult to suggest layouts but they can be good starting points, specially if the ones who made the profile mirrors the actual buttons as close to real-life.
  10. A word of warning, learning full fidelity AC will be both frustrating and oh so rewarding. In my case, it's highly addicting and in turn, I have all the modules both for fixed wing and rotary. I started with the A-10C and with a Logitech 3D Pro (the lack of buttons was a handicap), then moved to a X52 and was able to map the buttons to my liking (this forum has great resource but ultimately, it's down to your preference and be prepared to lose yourself trying different layouts). Most of the folks here are aviation enthusiasts and some hardcore ones at that. The F5E is a good choice, just be prepared to want more :)
  11. When you deleted and reinstalled, did you also delete all info on the User\Saved Games\DCS folder? This is where all configs is stored and normally remains even if you uninstall the "game" under Program Files. Try renaming the DCS folder under "Saved Games" to DCSold and have it rebuild a new one. You may need to reconfigure your set-up.
  12. I just completed the campaign by moving between 2.5 and 2.5.1. I didn't have any issues on Mission 12 through 15. Thanks for this awesome campaign Ranger79! Made me feel a little nostalgic heading back to Kutaisi after the last sortie. It was evident that a lot of work went into this, looking forward to more of your work! More power to you sir!
  13. Hey Ranger, the new patch fixed the helo AI madness. I was able to complete Mission 10 - Juba. Thanks!
  14. I figured...thanks! I guess either I rollback or wait for the next update...
  15. Tried repairing and deleting shaders to no avail. It happens when the helis land and stay for sometime.
  16. HI Folks, Having an issue with Mission - Juba. I've flown it 3x now always ending up with a CTD. I've attached my log file if it helps. Are any of you experiencing the same? dcs.log.txt
  17. Are you considering extensions for the Warthog as well? Worth thinking about, there are some pretty decent extension manufacturers here in the forums like Sahaj and MFG creates extensions as well. I got mine at Sahaj's.
  18. I did. May have mispelled it the first time. "So if you don't plan to center mount, the TFRP works well. But if you do plan to center mount (which takes the Warthog to a whole new level, especially with extensions), I suggest the Crosswinds, or if you have cash to burn and don't mind the longer wait, the Slaw Viper RX."
  19. I have the Warthog too along with the Thrustmaster TFRP Pedals. The TFRP pedals work well and does the job. However, I recently bought the Wheelstand Pro Warthog Deluxe V2 and I have center mounted the joystick (with 15cm extensions and between the legs) making the TFRP a bit difficult as the left and right pedals are about only an inch and a half apart are very close together. I have my Crosswinds arriving in a few weeks. So if you don't plan to center mount, the TFRP works well. But if you do plan to center mount (which takes the Warthog to a whole new level, especially with extensions), I suggest the Crosswinds, or if you have cash to burn and don't mind the longer wait, the Slaw Viper RX.
  20. Is the group still up? Fellow noypi here!
  21. Had the same issue on GH Mission 3.
  22. Wow! That's exciting! can't wait to get out of work and try this out (with crossed fingers of course). Thanks for the heads-up!
