Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 6
BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Ha ha, this was happening to me too. Took off from one FARP in a Ka-50. Destroyed, and captured 3 FARPs. Got shot down at the last FARP, zero lives left. Not sure, but I landed at all the FARPs we captured, so maybe it didn't give my life back, and subtracted another when I took off. -
Does this include the ability to get into transport choppers?
-
Oh noes! Withdrawal is starting to set in

Due to AI refueling I think this is the sole remaining feature to slow down the air quake.

Personally I would use the users Guid to track their lives (similar to your assigned number except ED has already done the work of assigning everyone a Guid). I would also handle the player count a little differently. Allow one team to join a max of n number of users over the competing team, so if n is 5 and say RED has 3 players then BLUE can join a max of 8 users. n could be adjusted to a lower number or higher number depending on the balance needed. This way it scales, and you don't have one team on the server with 25 players while the other team might have 0. I think this system would also help in diversifying the time zones, so the east isn't so RED focused, and the west isn't so BLUE focused. Reason being is they wouldn't be able to play because there would not be enough of the other team to let them join thus they may decide to play for the other team.

Everyone keeps saying in the real round lives are limited, and they're not in the testing, but this is just plain wrong. Lives are limited in the testing round. The lives system is broken for users with special characters. This means if your name is something like JohnSmith then you'll not be able to rejoin after you die 4 times, but if your name is John_Smith then you can continue to use lives past 4 and still join.

I don't know you or the rest of RvE from Adam, so forgive me if I don't believe what two of the most vehement Leavu supporters have to say about it. Also, I can't make it anymore clear than I have. If you don't understand then there isn't much more I can say.
-
Now you want me to close my mouth about you cheating when I have no proof yet you opened your mouth about harmless cheating when you had no proof? Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Over stress maybe, but it always recovers from a blackout in single player no matter the speed or G placed on it. This isn't the case in multiplayer. The point I'm making is when they fly into the ground I'd bet more than anything they blacked out. If you see me do this it's a guarantee I blacked out. Take a look at how many times they get shot down. Do you think someone with 8+ deaths is concerned with one more? Bluefor is so perfect here, and such upstanding citizens they would never do something like this.... Okay I'll play your game. Please tell me why AKA_MattE disconnect on me every single time I engaged his Mirage in my Su-27 only to have him reconnect after I jump into a chopper and shoot me down. Okay, back in Su-27. Can you guess what happened? That's right, he disconnects. Back in chopper.... Guess what? Reconnects in Mirage. Best part about the whole deal is he doesn't lose a life because of the special character in his name. The reality is we're going to have poor sports on both sides. Hopefully BS will fix their scripts so these players are punished for their actions.

Figures any Leavu user would play stupid with any cheat they have. I'll spell it out for you. You're in RvE, and the squadron tag your team uses in game contains special characters. Any user who has special characters in their name will be able to slot load regardless of the amount of lives they've lost.
-
Says the person who has unlimited lives.
-
You must not fly the Russian planes in multiplayer very much. It's stupid easy to over G, and have an instant blackout which the pilot never recovers from. The random disconnects are a thing with the Blue Flag server. I've seen quite a lot of Bluefor disconnect mid-air, and it's happened to me too... ...so yeah stay classy right?
-
Redfor captured it yesterday, and dropped 3 repair crates on it, but even at 100% it wouldn't repair or rearm us. The two Su-25's which spawn there couldn't get any weapons besides the guns they came loaded with.

+1 thanks for the laugh.

So one module can't be effective without a visual hack put in place which screws another module, and the solution is "Fakum"? I recommend you become a full time chopper pilot because you're going to need all the ones you can find.

OverG, your statement contradicts itself.

Thanks holimoli, I'll take a look at the final product when the round starts, but I won't be playing in a stacked environment for a second time. As far as the wings... It will just take time to learn to fly within the envelope. That said, until this is passed to the other aircraft you'll find me in a 33 in a multiplayer environment every time. I'm not completely ineffective against 120's. The last day I played the testing phase I went into a 6v1 and managed to shoot down four while the remaining two bugged out. Miracles don't always happen, so if you have anything outside notching, cranking, diving into the dirt, and extending I'm all ears. Honestly though, I want to see a 120 miss due to chaff, not my maneuvers.

As it stands today I'm sitting Blue Flag Round 6 out. Originally I was very excited to play in it, but a number of issues with the choices within their control, and some outside of their control have made it a grueling experience. I'll just list the problems as I see it today. Model enlargement of any kind ruins the experience for chopper pilots. I realize A2A boy's want an easier way to find targets, but the only defense a chopper pilot has is to hide. How do you do that when all you need to do is zoom your view out? Having a 4th generation fighter (Mirage 2000) capable of advanced A2G, and A2A spawning at all the Redfor bases tilts the balance in Bluefor's favor significantly. Having hot started choppers at bases next door to each other makes them near impossible to capture. ED implementing structural integrity in a single aircraft (Su-27) without doing so for the other aircraft gimps it's ability to compete. Buddy Spike team needs to replace or at least put down quite a few Su-33's to offset this. I honestly feel like many pilots need more time to adjust to such a large change, and this includes myself. I'm regularly snapping my wings off right now just making a simple 6g turn. I have to put my vote in for the 120B even though I think some testing needs to be done with it, but so far I haven't had a single counter measure defeat a 120C. The only option is to out-maneuver it, or run away from it. On the flip side I had a single F-15 running from me, so at rear aspect from about 1 km the F-15 dumped a couple flares and a few chaff and my entire rack of missiles missed. including the prized R-73. Yep, that is completely even Steven. CSAR, what happened to it? I like doing CSAR, but it's gone now. I also would like to CSAR in the TF-51 for change, but that never seems to happen. When I played Round 5 Redfor was always outnumbered by Bluefor, and now during the testing phase when the teams appear to be about even Greg makes a call for additional Bluefor pilots. No matter what time I get online we seem to be outnumbered 2 to 1. Sorry, that was brutal in Round 5, and not worth it in Round 6. Don't even get me started on the long ass fuel flights for Redfor. Lastly, Leavu3. It appears there is a significant number of Bluefor players which think it is perfectly acceptable to use what is essentially a wall hack in DCS. The one advantage the Su-27 is supposed to have against the F-15 in DCS is its datalink, but it doesn't actually have that. Datalink does not work in multiplayer unless there is an AWACS in which you only receive information from the AWACS. It still won't let you receive information from your flight as it's supposed to work. Did anyone notice there isn't an AWACS in Blue Flag? Anyone? All those using Leavu3 are running around enhancing your aircraft over an already gimped aircraft, but you wouldn't know that because you've probably never flown the Su-27. The current Blue Flag experience is less than stellar, so I'm getting back to real life.

Really? A post about why I think LEAVU is bad for the multiplayer community is too much? ...and I didn't even include politics in it.
-
Please no, I can hide from sensors, but the mark I eyeball sees Zeppelin's quite easily. My chopper should look like an ant at all times.
-
It hasn't started yet. Only the testing phase for Round 6 has begun. The actual event is almost here though. You can immediately play by signing into the server, and typing BLUE to be on the blue side, or RED to be on the red side. Just remember that whichever team you choose you'll be with the entire event unless you have an admin change your sides. Registering on the Buddy Spike server simply gives you access to your teams private forums.

I think you want Bluefor then mate, no F-15's on Redfor.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5
BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
When they get around to assigning me to Redfor I will..... because Gary Oldman. -
I doubt IC can prevent this. If this operates how I think it does, then it's simply reading the export data of one user, and piping that data over to another user outside of the game. The only immediate solution I can think to prevent it is to have an option on the server that when set to true would prevent clients from allowing export via LUA. This should shutdown the data feed this application receives. The downside to this approach would be the destruction of home pits. Without the export of data the Cougar MFD's, Helios setups, etc.. etc... would be DOA. I think the option should be there at least, and it's up to the server admin to enable it, and the loss of home pits will be the price we multiplayer simmers have to pay in order to keep things as fair as possible.

I'm okay with the 120's, but let's go total East vs West here. Remove all coalition assets not belonging to the appropriate side (who cares Bluefor doesn't have SEAD or an attack chopper), and don't gimp Redfor on weapon loadouts. I'm looking at you 58U, and tactical nuke. Bluefor is using Redfor assets to level the playing field, except some Bluefor don't really want the playing field leveled (read they want complete advantage). Edit: To be clear in case my sarcasm isn't picked up on. I really want a balanced Blue Flag experience within the simulations limitations. To achieve a balance sometimes certain weapons may need to be removed or one coalitions weapons added to the other. I made the post above to highest the BS posts about the 120 being totally fair because it's simulated.
